most of the times it happens due to your eye moistute content dropped due to long use. Therefore your contact lens got slightly dry and stuck to your sclera. If it happens to you, put in a lot of saline solution into your eye. Close your eyes for a while to let the lens soak up all the moisture. Don't panic. Then after a while, roll your eyes and the lens should be back to center. Remove them.

@yomoxica I assume it's usually a case of wearing the contacts too long, the contacts drying out, etc. Basically, our tear film protects the eye, right? Tear film includes a nice layer of mucus, then watery "tears" with its enzymes and all, then a thin oily layer to prevent evaporation etc. Contact lenses, depending on the material interact with the natural tear film in different ways. And leave em in too long or if you have dry eyes or whatever -- friction damage

He means go to a hospital to schedule a consult with a primary care physician who will put it off for more urgent patients then see you just to tell you you need to see an ophthalmologist so they give you a referral to one who will then schedule your appointment sometime within the next few months. Funny thing is, this scenario is more true in places like canada and the EU than in the US.

Sir, I am from the UK. While it is free, one cannot simply "just go see a doctor" you have to have been dead for at least 24 months before they consider making an appointment with you.
@a_angry_bunny

The one advantage to the American healthcare is that while it does cost an arm and a leg, you at least don't have to wait forever for most things.
@zkcrisyee
Жыл бұрын
@@a_angry_bunny Not really though. In the US, you only have the option of either being insured by a very good insurance associated to your job or company and hope the copay is low enough and it covers what you need. Or having to pay out of pocket an insane $$$ amount, an arm and a leg, if no insurance. Those who don’t have insurance for whatever reason, are in between jobs or transitioning between states or companies, or for whatever reason aren’t covered at the moment of an issue… are f*cked. The hospital bills there posted frequently online are insane, even in necessary ER situations, and even for minor procedures like the one to resolve the problem in this video. In places like Canada (most provinces), you have both options: the free universal healthcare coverage, for which you can take a free a appointment to see a specific doctor, which will take the time it takes depending where you live and what your situation is… Or you can also pay in the private sector at a private clinic, out of pocket, to see a specialist. Though it will be $, it is still an option, not “forbidden” or anything, and it costs just like in the US… even cheaper, as medical care is cheaper overall in Canada even in private sector (and medications in pharmacies are noticeably cheaper as well, US people go over there to get their medicines very frequently, or get them shipped from there, specially with the insulin spike that happened in the last decade, which was something insane like 1000$+ a vial in the US and only ~4$ in Canada). Or you could have a good insurance with your job which can cover seeing a specialist in a private clinic, which happens often with good jobs. So either way, you have the best of both worlds, whichever you can personally afford. The availability of the free public universal health care coverage doesn’t stop individuals for opting in to the private sector, if they so desire and have the financial means for it. Not sure how it all works in the UK, but I do know the NHS covers a whole lot of stuff for all people, regardless of income or background, and hospital visits are free. There are obviously glaring problems with wait times to see a specialist, but at least the ER is free if you break a leg and you don’t need to worry about paying tens of thousands of dollars on top of the immense pain you are in, nor are people dying by avoiding going to the ER after an emergency injury, like in the US with the guy in a video avoiding calling an ambulance after a fracture and bleeding everywhere, out of fear of going bankrupt and being financially in a bad place already. That sh*t is bonkers. Also, there’s probably the two options system in the UK as well, I dunno why there wouldn’t: there’s the free universal healthcare institution (NHS) that covers everyone that isn’t already covered by private insurance. Then there’s private insurance (through one’s company/work or paying for it monthly if one can afford it), THEN there’s also paying out of pocket if people are financially well off and can afford paying $$$ to immediately go see a specialist at a private clinic. Private care is not forbidden in countries with free universal healthcare coverage lmao, some people from the US seem to always forget that. There’s the two options system. In the US… you only have one option: everything works through gigantic private for-profit insurance companies, and the whole system is a mess of corporations preying on vulnerable sick people. Meaning several millions who are uninsured can die like dogs from not getting proper care and avoiding calling an ambulance or going to the ER even when they absolutely NEED urgent care… or go bankrupt from a single ER visit. And those who are on Medicare, in the states that allow that form of social safety net at least, don’t have as good as coverage as people in developed countries with universal healthcare. That means several 10s of millions of people, if not a 100 million people at least, in the US. Which is crazy. And the % of GDP that is used by the government as a net $G investment into maintaining the universal healthcare system in Canada, UK, Germany or other countries with it… is still way lower than what the US already spends in its faulty system, giving away tens of Billions of $ every year not to their OWN system, but to insurance for profit corporations and their crony executives. It is both a more expensive system for taxpayers, than the system there is in other countries, and it is also less efficient and lets a substantial % of the population to be completely devoid of any kind of affordable healthcare, on the debt of bankruptcy, or dying in the streets like dogs. It is insane. And some insane Republicans still brainwash the population into thinking: “we have it better than in other countries!” It is a lie preached by rich senate and congress psychopaths, being paid tons of $$$ and corrupted by top insurance rabid psychopathic top executives in those for profit scheme corporations. It is all a very sad state of affairs still in the 21st century, which is bonkers.

@@zkcrisyee I'm not reading all that but basically you're saying that the US healthcare is expensive which doesn't disagree what I said. Also, considering other countries turn to the US for specialty care, we do have some of the best healthcare. The issue isn't the quality it is just ludicrously expensive. Last but not least, stop blaming all the issues on one side or another. That's what they want you to do. Eye drops help if it's stubborn.
I worked with a pediatric ophthalmologist for many years. On one occasion parents brought in their young daughter who had watched her aunt put in her contact lenses. The little girl found a sequin in the house and put it on her eye like a contact lens. The parents tried to remove it but she wouldn't let them get near her. Her parents brought her to us and while I took their information I casually said "Can I look at your eye". And she said "sure". I could see the sequin with my naked eye so I just took a cotton swab, soaked it with a topical anesthetic, put one drop in her eye(which she let me do)and lightly touched the sequin and out it came!

This is what I explain to my classmates everytime I get it stuck and they still think it may go backwards lol

I'm an optical assistant... And also a long time contact lens wearer. Sometimes moving your eye will allow it to slide back into place. Gently massaging the lid in a downwards motion is also helpful. However, if the lens is torn, or if it slides too far up under the eyelid, it can become extremely difficult to remove without seeing an optometrist or ophthalmologist. If the lens doesn't come out relatively easily it's better to seek help than to irritate your eye or scratch your sclera.
