One more thing about Waylon Mercy is that he worked for the WWF from '85-'88 with Mike Rotunda, Bray Wyatt's dad, as the US Express, who are going into the WWE HOF later this year. He also tagged with Sid Vicious in WCW as the Sky Scrapers in the early 90s

Bret didn’t come up with the ladder match, it was used from the 60s on in Japan, the UK and Stu Heart’s Calgary territory. Which is where Bret had first completed in one. As for ‘Puppies’ David Lee Roth was saying that as far back as 79.

Bret Hart definitely didn't invent the ladder match. I saw a ladder match once that took place in the 1970s or 80s, I don't remember what promotion - AWA maybe? But Jake Roberts was in the match and the goal was to climb the ladder to get a bag of money.

And Matt threw his at the time wrestling name into that hat. And won. They didn't steal it from him, this is confirmed by Matt in either one of the book biographies or dvd ones.
