Who decides that we have enough 2 pounds in circulation? We clearly dont as shops hardly give them out in change. I try to use notes as much as i can and ask for change in 2 pounds or 50p. The shops just say they dont get 2 pounds. Also, my bank will only order coins now for Business customers and they only have what customers hand in. They dont order coins in now for themselves. It is now really difficult to get 50p or 2 pounds from the bank. Think banks just want to go cashless as well. I got Olympic football in my change a few weeks ago so it is possible to get some great coins in your change. We really need to get the 2020 and 2021 Britannias out of the Long Store. I have never found a Salmon 50p either in change or from a bank bag.

cash now accounts for 15% of UK purchases is probably the reason unfortunately.

I see very few £2 coins, of any variety, so I don't know about there being enough already in circulation.

I went to the shop yesterday and gave the guy £3 for 6 50ps! (Commemorative) they were Christopher ironside, pride, nhs 50 anniversary, 2 King Charles coins and something else.

@williammclay1406 hello there. The edge inscription on £2 coins can appear either way up. It’s not an error, as there is 50% chance on which way up you’ll find it.

i have stopped searching .. waiting for something new.. i even put my surplus of grubby Shakespeare coins back into circulation. but i have kept six sets of the shiny ones .. also Sold my surplus commonwealth games.. So my complete collection of circulated £2 coins are at £1.24 each.. When Will We Find New £2 Coins?

Whilst at the Royal Mint on Sunday I got 2 x 2016 Team GB and a Heroic acts 50p from the shop till & cafe till. On Tuesday night at Darts I got a 1999 Rugby World Cup £2 and a 2018 D for Double Decker 10p in my change 😊 My pick is the Golden Guinea ✨ Great stuff Christopher 👍🏻

I understand your frustration. Christopher hunts through thousands of pounds a month so, to him, they must seem common. Change Checker have a scarcity index which also lists some coins as common. If I had one 50p in my Change every day, it might be years before I find a Battle of Hastings or Team GB. So yeah, don't take it to heart. He's only seeing it from his perspective.
