That's why I love metal. Has such a huge range of different sounds... can be pretty raw, brutal and heavy but it can play nice in just as many ways. You can melt it and shape it in any way you want. So much variety in this genre, you can sing about anything and sound however you want, there are no limits.

I can think of ten melodies from metal songs off the top of my head without even putting much thought into it that if they were written 300 years ago and played by an orchestra they’d still be called masterpieces today, and I know I’m not the only one.

Pete, my good lad, you forgot to mention the stories every good heavy metal song is telling. It takes you back in time, and the next song propels you into the future, and that is magical and amazing.

Why does this look like someone tried to make an ad for the entire metal genre

Metal is a genre I'm always listening to because it really brings out everything I like about music and there are lots of songs with very deep meaning lyrics I can't skip over. It's like there's no ceiling or expectation to respect in it. It's a free playground for bands and solo artists to experiment in every way, from the most mellow tunes to out right messed up things. Thanks for the beautiful omage to the genre!

Metal is my life, it's the essence of music, it can force every emotion that humans can feel. ❤️

Metallica would be a great example. Their instrumentals like Orion, To Live Is To Die and Suicide And Redemption speak beautifully without lyrics. There's also other songs like That Was Just Your life, Fight Fire With Fire and let's even say Atlas, Rise all have their combinations of melody and harmony and they're all so fun to listen to. Unmatched discography right there.

I'm a metalhead but I try not to hate on any other genre of music, but rather appreciate the diversity of approaches musicians take to create sounds they and others enjoy. The world would be boring if we had to agree on one type of music only.

Metal is my therapy, has been for over 20 years at this point. Got into metal in like 1999-2000 when I was 11-12, and now so many years later, I have accumulated a massive library of songs spanning decades and genres/subgenres, and even though I listen to metal every day, I'm never tired of it. Sometimes I don't feel like listening to anything super brutal so I'll listen to lighter stuff like Power Metal or Symphonic or Doom, or even just a mellow album by a band I love, like Opeth's Damnation. Other days all I want to listen to is the heaviest stuff I can get my hands on, so I put on Death Metal, Deathcore, Black Metal and stuff like that. Still other times I just want something that feels comfy, and reminds me of simpler days, so I go to old Slipknot and Godsmack and Disturbed and just chill. I'm a firm believer that anyone out there, no matter their preferred genre of music, there is a metal song or band they can listen to and enjoy.

I think my favourite band that sums this up so well right now has to be Monuments.. perfect blend of the two! 🙏🤘

I absolutely love music in general, but put of all the music genres and bands Ive heard, metal has come out on top as my favourite, for this exact reason! Everything about it is perfect in my mind.

Are you a bad person? I'm sure you aren't. But you are a pretty ignorant and incredibly dumb person for thinking the same way as older generations thought about yours and you are incredibly dumb for thinking "kids these days" don't enjoy music. To all the kids out there: Enjoy your music and keep rocking. Learn an instrument, join a band, make the world a more musical place. Don't listen to old people trying to tell you you should respect them while they simultaneously disrespect you. Respect does have to be earned to a degree, but being decent and kind towards each other should be fundamental basics. Don't let those old folks take you down.

Metal is like Indian food... To really appreciate it, you need to increase your threshold for spice. But once you go past that its heavy ness is addictive and you can't get enough!

Technicaly everything you hear is some form of noise and every type of music is a structured sequence of noises. So yeah, metal is just noise technicaly. But god damn do i love those noises!

Just take a look at music history during past 15th centuries how started. midlevel to renaissance to Baroque to classical period and so on ... and now metal music. Metal it's just a perfection of music and there is no higher level than this. the skill level in metal is super high even other genre can't compete with it. Metal it is own creation that is most important fact. if somebody say metal is just noise unfortunately they have no knowledge about metal music and they don't understand it. They just have to look deep enough to see all different genre in metal which have a lot of variety of chords, melody, arpeggios, and etc.

Metal is pure talent on a level that others who have not ventured on it have no understanding of. Like a folk or country guitar player going against a metalhead. Both are talented on their own stages, but I can guarantee you the metalhead can do parkour around the country/folk player.

Metal is Metal DOT. Who don't love it, it's just a limited person... Metal is: past (play a Vivaldi's compose with a guitar) advanced technics, very (hidden) painful words, a cure, relax when you play it and need to let out your anger, inspiration, MetalUPyourASS!

"Normal" people dont hear all of this. People listen to vocals because Pop music learn us this. And because of this when "normal" people hear growl or scream and dont understand this right away they say is just noise. To summer this up. People listen to vocal not the whole music. Many metalhead listen whole thing. Instrumental and vocal part. Because of this we love this music and we know lyrics and can "sing" riff and solos
