Yeah this is the same studio that came up with a solution for the party attendees in case every tiefling died before you save the grove and kill the goblin leaders. They definitely knew youd try to pickpocket jergal and chose to not make him care. Its just an excuse so that he is technically not interfering with mortals for his own benefit but rather just "providing a service" since Ao, the big boss of the gods, doesn't like it when gods interfere with mortals directly. @@rusk3986 i definitely see it as insecurity. its a mature action but i dont think its fueled by that. Hes not exactly known for his maturity, and considering his past and how poorly he's been treated, it definitely seems to me he apologises more because he doesnt want to anger one of the only positive people he's ever had in life. he does the same sort of thing by reacting excessively to any kindness you show him. In a lot of ways if youre a good aligned character and youre kind to astarion, youre basically teaching him how to be normal and well adjusted. Its why i could never start a romance with him, always seemed like an almost parental or older sibling role you were playing for him. Yes he's significantly older, but his entire life has been abuse, only getting free for short periods of time to entice a mortal into captivity.

Actually, the last time there was a strike that the voice actors were involved in, one of their major issues was being able to rest their voices. And I think Neil as Astarion perfectly demonstrates WHY they need that rest. Because his performance here with the outraged screeching is utterly perfect. But that HURTS to do. Imagine doing THAT for an hour straight trying to get it right. And if you do it too much, too often, you lose your voice, and your voice is your job, so you're eventually unable to do your job. News flash: *Neil WON THE BEST VIDEO GAME PERFORMANCE OF 2023* lmfao
Neil Newbon won Best Performance at the game awards for his role as Astarion. Seriously epic work! He's got so much character
I know we're all crushing on the voice work but the performance capture on that escape run is straight out of Mission Impossible. Amazing work all round.
OMFG, Tav pickpocketing Withers while he's raising Astarion, Astarion's righteous outrage, and then at the end, BAP!!! I hurt myself laughing. 🤣🤣🤣
No wonder this game is game of the year 2023
Neil Newbon deserves every award for this character.
When the voice actors are actual voice actors.
This is why voice actors deserve more, they actually have fun voicing a character
Now he got Best Performance of the year and a well earned one.
The next part is even better! “There’s a difference between a nice summer breeze and the FULL POWER OF THE SUN!”
And that's why he won best performance in Game Awards
Astarion is a staple companion simply because of his personality; his thief skills are a bonus.
The "no no no!" cracks me up. He's throwing a well deserved tantrum.
Neil Newbon definitely deserves an award for his role in Baldur's Gate 3.
now I get why Neil Newbon got that Game Award
AND THE WINNER IS... :D
Thank you for uploading this, I would have NEVER caused this interaction to occur unless by pure accidental luck and Its way to good to be missed!
Voice of the year. And Game of the year, Ladies and Gentlemen ♥
Who's here after the game awards?
Withers: I strike thy name from the archives. (steals gold back) Withers: I'mma write it back down, with a sharpie!
If you would tell me neil didn’t get a single cent from voiceacting astarion, I would fully believe he did it cuz he had a blast

His Twitch playing the game is hilarious if you haven't watched it yet. One of his friends plays who is consistently upset at what Astarion is doing, and I'm convinced whatever created character Neil is playing doesn't matter. Because he's always playing Astarion.

Or possibly romancing Astarion@@Kenobi_Cowboy
his award for best performance was well desserved
The “No, no, no” sounds like he’s criticizing a child and it gets me every single time
That voice actor deserves an award or two ;)
He won best supporting VA at the Golden Joysticks, and this video renders it as NO surprise to me
Congrats to the actor behind Astarion for winning VGA's 'Performance of the Year' award in 2023
His whiny NO NO NO gets me every time 😂
Yeah, Neil 1,000% deserved the 2023 Best Performance award.
AND HE WON AT THE GAME AWARDS WOOOO
That is one of the best voice acted lines I've ever seen in a game before lol well done
Hope Neil wins the Game Awards nomination he's up for, from this clip alone, he's fucking deserved it
For me its the "no no no" that absolutely kills me its so good
Gotta give it to the motion capture actors and team, the animators and designers too. That run from the collapse was really cool, and the shot of the house crumbling as well.
CONGRATS TO NEIL FOR VOICING OUR FAVORITE MAN AND WINNING AN AWARD AT THE GAME AWARDS
His voice actor needs all the awards he can carry with a fucking bulldozer👏🏻🫡💀🔥💯😍
Gotta give props to the animators too. The facial and hand movements really sell the scene.

its all motion capture

Incorrect, motion capture for info, then most of all animation is done by AI via script on how characters should be feeling and AI captures that emotion, amazing job on all departments for making such technology, this game would have taken many more years if everything was motion captured

@@eeveeeevee610 Hi, industry animator of 10 years here, what the fuck are you talking about? They've literally showcased in behind-the-scenes footage numerous times the actors wearing the suits, while recording their lines at the same time. The capture was done in tandem with the voices. They're literally physically acting. The credit really goes to their tech team for insanely good implementation efficiency, because there really IS that much mocap in the game.

You can really tell what parts are mo cap and which ones aren't the ones without aren't that great very jagged
His voice actor really reminds me of Tom Ellis from Lucifer.
This was the moment he won Best Performance at the recent Game Awards. (Mind you, he was fab the entire time, but this really sticks out to me)
that no no nooo lives rent free in me head
Absolutely deserved best performance award for his voice actor.
