Unfortunately the Marine Corps does not have an actual E-4 mafia (All we have is Terminal Lances) because it hates it Enlisted that much,but in reality the video in a Marine Corps aspect depicts someone who picked up Corporal but looks down on their former Lance Corporal Colleges.

@@scantrontheimmortal Agree to an extent. Terminal Lances are pretty much POSs who couldn’t do basic right shyte to make Corporal. As far as E-4s in the MC ‘looking down’ on their LCpl. buddies, while I have definitely seen that happen, it takes a mature person to realize how to learn to balance the new NCO rank and still maintain personal/professional relationships without coming across as a total dick.

Promotion to SGT in the same unit you were a SPC has to be the most painful promotion in any branch of the military.

I don't know mine went good. I had gotten a lateral promotion to cpl about 4 months before I made points, so it was like my section got eased in to me being an NCO. I think I may have had to assert myself twice. Besides that I knew how to motivate each of my guys, because we had worked together at least six month before my promotion.

My first day as a Sgt, I was in Vietnam and worked midnight to noon. I walk to the shop in A1C shirt and when I got to work I changed at midnight. My boss a Msgt said to have someone clean the break room and make coffee. I walk over to a few airmen waiting for a job assignment and said who wants to clean the break room no one said anything. So I said Ann Coleman make coffee and clean the break room. He said, FU. I was thinking what to do and the Msg came around the corner and chewed the man out and threatened him with Courts martial. Then he took me to his office and gave me the worst a$$ chewing of my life?

Sounded like Alvin and the chipmunks the army years 😂

I had an asshole E6 that "readied" us for combat by constant smoke sessions. He even tried to pull that shit when we got back from a 17 month deployment, even smoking multi deployment E5's just for kicks. He wondered why the other E6's had better teams(we were FO's). The other E6's did this thing called training and actually taught things to their soldiers. Some people think if they make everyone miserable and never teach a damn thing is how you teach. I was transferred teams and this jackass tried to make me push and my E6 told him to f*ck off in front of the platoon sergeant. 🤣

I've been following A Combat Veteran for years and these guys nail it every time!

This is so much better when playing at different speeds. Especially at .25 speed, sounds like stoned, drunk kids

When I made the points for promotion to SGT, I was in the 82nd ABN…I had fewer than 6 months before PCSing to Panama (my unit was pissed that I didn’t re-up to PCS and not stay). My unit didn’t want to “waste” the PLDC slot on someone who was departing, so I had to wait until after my 25 days of PCS leave, a week at the Replacement Detachment in Panama, get to my unit, get inprocessed, and then finally be added to list for a PLDC slot. It wasn’t until I was in country for 3 months before I went to PLDC…then after PLDC, had to wait for the 1 day of the month after completing school…it was April Fool’s Day 1993. That really effed me over, as everyone else I knew in my MOS, we’re promoted right at or month after their 3 year mark in the Army. For me it was over 4 years. Similar issue happened for promotion to SSG…was attending a 10-month school in DC, made the points for promotion (1 Oct 1995); then got conflicting orders…BNCOC at Ft Huachuca and PCS orders to Okinawa. Called Branch, they said the PCS orders took precedent. Again, had to wait to pin on until after BNCOC…wouldn’t give a waiver promote before school as “I was scheduled for a school slot”. The school is 2 and a half months long…..again nearly a year after making the points I was promoted (1 Sep 96). My promotion to SFC went relatively without incident…was in another school, I pinned on on my Promotion date (1 May 2001) before attending ANCOC.

Korean here. Didn't went to mandatory military service YET, but have some friends who went there. Almost exactly the same. When someone becomes a Sergeant or even Corporal/Specialist (They aren't NCOs but can hold NCO positions such as Squad Leader/Assistant SL) they do to new privates quite often. But most do when they just got promoted. After a few weeks, they stop it.

Yup. I was U.S. Army, but I worked literally side-by-side with many ROK Army soldiers. Some of them were great friends of mine for the time. But yes...just as accurate for the Korean Army as it is the American Army.

I'm currently serving in Korea right now. You could always become a KATUSA. The two that work with us here in the army, say that it's easier, and pays better then the regular Korean army.
