    Thanks. Camping in Michigan. And yup.. power went out, and our battery only held for 1 hour, keeping the dometic fridge cold. Going shopping this morning. For a battery and cold milk.

    I guess, I'm just a lazy person on a budget ( can't afford Lithium). We decided to stay with a AGM battery ( to lazy to mess with water), so far the only place we have boondocked have been Walmart, Sams, and couple Harvest Host. And in ten years ( lithium battery) we will be our 80's probably out of the RV business lololo. Ps As always great Video.

    Great info on the lithium and active balancing. Thinking of changing to lithium. I have 2 solar collectors on the roof that keep my lead acid charged. But I tested my battery and it dropped just by putting on lights in the rv. Thanks for all the info.

    We keep our travel trailer at a seasonal campground or visit state parks The only time we're using the battery not hooked up to either shore power or the tow vehicle is to lower/raise tongue jack or to open/close the slide out. What sort of maintenance should I expect with a battery being used so little?

    Since RV batteries are the topic, quick and maybe a dumb question.. My small travel trailer has a 4 LED style battery monitor from the factory. Does it adjust for the 50% discharge with a lead acid battery? I mean, if one bar is left lit, does that mean you are close to 50%, or does it mean you just ruined your battery because it is at 15-20%????

    Question: I have 4 - 6-volt golf cart flooded batteries in series and Parrell to give me 12 volts. All the same year. 2019. One seems to boil over a little. Voltage is good. They stay around 6.70 while plugged in to shore power. New converter in the rv to upgrade it. Any idea why this is happening? You do a great job making people like me understand your tech tips. very knowledgeable. Thank you.

    Thanks for a very informative lesson. I do have a question about whether or not one needs to be as concerned about balancing AGM batteries the same as you do with LiFePo batteries? If so, what equipment is used to monitor multiple batteries and ensure that they're balanced? Thanks again!

    My recent issue with my single 100ah battleborn lithium battery is that it was sold as a drop in “plug and play” for my house battery. It worked great for about a year, and then then BMS would trip when attempting to start my 4k generator. Battleborn’s chart claims it can spike and start my 4k generator, but after a relatively short time, it did not have enough power to cycle the starter. I called Battleborn and they said, yeah, that surge spike spec shouldn’t have been on the sheet (they were actually surprised when I pointed it out). Not sure if they’ve updated this, but it’s a major flaw with this setup if you’re only running one 100ah battery.

    I bought a brand new Jayco trailer. the problem. When I took it home. the next morning, the battery was dead. I plugged into my Tahoe to take it to the dealer the next day. I charged the batter up first. The next morning, not only was the trailer battery dead, my Tahoe battery was dead. It is at the dealer....for at least 7 weeks, to fix the problem...really... 7 weeks?? What do you think is wrong with that battery?

    I watched a bunch of your videos concerning lithium. Things like convertor only charges to 80%. Change to an inverter to max charge to 100. And solar can top off because of the 14.6 charge availability. But my question comes from the truck side. I know an alternator puts out 14.4 (average). Does the truck have the same effect as the solar. Or do I need a compatible component for lithium between my truck and the lithium batteries?

    Should I leave solar always on charging lithium battery bank while in storage where I lose about 1.5% nightly or should I turn off solar and back on when battery bank down to 80-90%? Is my current daily solar charge from 98.5% up to 100% considered a “cycle”?

    With a lead acid battery, is it better to leave it plugged in to shore power constantly or should I kill shore power daily to allow the battery to discharge a bit but no more than 50%?

    I have 2 deep cycle lead acid batteries hooked up to an 80W solar panel controlled with Go Power Controller. Its the stock setup with the Surveyer Legend 240BHLE. Can I simply swap out the batteries with two 100ah lithium batteries, hooked up in parallel for 200ah, and switch the controller settings to lithium? I dont need to run large appliances. I have a generator for that. However, I think 80w solar won't be enough to charge 200ah from 90% discharge. I could probably get away with one lithium 100ah. That would be better than 2 lead acid batteries 200ah considering lithium can be more than 90% discharged.

  • @IamMugs
    @IamMugs11 ай бұрын

    Here's a stupid question but do the batteries in this act as caps? That is, do they help clean voltage coming in from the invertor in the same way a battery smooths voltage before hitting the ECM/BCM/TCM in a car? My feeling is no, but the reason I ask is because frankly, I don't need the battery for anything expect for maybe the radio memory and occasional light while in storage. Since it only runs my 12 volt side, I RARELY see a reason to have it at all. It ONLY runs my lights, radio, and a couple USB ports that I added. Fridge, microwave, TV, etc are all 120VAC. Unless my battery has been dead from the get-go and it should be able to handle a 120VAC load, I don't understand the hype of having them really.

    If you replace your batteries with lithium (ie. 2 100 AH) can those batteries still be used to start my 5000w Onan onboard generator? read conflicting reports on using lithium as starting batteries but does the generator count as using it as a starting battery

  • @NationalRVTrainingAcademy

    So the generator starts off the HOUSE battery not a starter battery. 1 lead acid battery is typically what starts it. A lithium battery can easily start the genny.

    I assume the voltage drop is not under load, but was the drop before the solenoid or after (input side of solenoid or output side?) sounds like a bad solenoid if after, loose connection if before.
