I think the producers are correct when they said you can't call a song "Kpop" without a Korean person and it's just a localized version of pop in SKor. So, even if HORI7ON will debut in Skor and since it consists of foreign members (not Koreans by blood), I think it's correct that we should call it as a "pop group" rather than a "Kpop group." SB19 is a great example. They are a product of a Korean company but they prefer to be called as a "Ppop group" since they promote PPOP, a sub-genre of OPM, and it's the localized version of pop here in Philippines.

Actually, medyo conflicted pa talaga ako if we can call Hori7on as a ppop/pop group and not a kpop group. Kasi sa dream chasers, the original songs they performed were all dubbed as kpop songs. Mission 3 was even called original kpop song challenge (or somewhere along those lines). Don't get me wrong though... i'm a fan of Dream Maker. Pero kasi if the songs Hori7on will sing/perform are made by koreans, can we still refuse to call it a kpop song? And if a group performs kpop songs, should't they be called a kpop group? Just as how opera singers call themselves as such because they sing opera songs. Ang SB19 kasi kaya natin natatawag na ppop group is because they are Filipinos AND the songs they sing are made by a Filipino, Pablo himself. In other words, we call the group a ppop group as such kasi they perform and promote OPM/ppop songs. Nevertheless, both groups SB19 and Hori7on are pop groups. But if we are to categorize them further into a sub-genre, one would be a ppop group and the other is, well, probably a kpop group if they are to continue performing korean-made songs (kpop songs). But from the looks of it naman, parang may balak naman sila na gumawa din ng music nila 😅 at least based from Jiro's statement na he's like to make songs incorporating Filipino/bisaya language. Well, nevertheless, I'm a fan naman of both groups. Basta nalilito pa din ako 🤣😅

Ang kaibahan nila ang SB19 PPop tlaga ksi dito sa Pinas nagtraining at gawa ni Pablo mga kanta nila. Ang desperate lng ni Lauren Dyogi sa dream maker nung sinabi nya "we are looking all ways and means to get the filipino talent to be recognized globally. With our two partners, it will be EASIER, FASTER for us to get to the global arena at the SHORTEST possible time. Pati MLD pumatol sa Abs sa 3 months training lng tpos debut na sa June. Obviously hinahabol ni lauren ang esbi. Minadali lahat. Goodluck n lng.

@@untitled3232 Actually, you have a good point here. If the group promotes "Kpop songs" despite being foreigners, then, it's also fair to call them as a "Kpop group." It will all depend to what kind of pop they will release in the future.

@@candyvillarosa2086 Agree. If they will debut as a regular idol group in SKor, I hope they can get the recognition they deserve with the Korean people. It's pretty hard to penetrate the idol industry in their country since there are hundreds of groups debut every year and only few of them has the chance to become popular and if we also consider the neverending "discrimination." Although, they may become popular with the international audiences (esp. Filipinos).

I think SB19 is truly a PPOP Group because they're all Pilipinos. The difference between PPOP and KPOP is the Talents Level. Am not demeaning Koreans but when it comes to Talents especially Singing and Dancing, Pilipinos are on another and higher Levels. No matter who trained SB19 if this group has no Talents at all but forced to make it as a group, it would fail. Pilipinos have already proven their High Level of Talents in an International Stage like the WCOPA, World Champonship Of Performing Arts in the US wherein more than 50 Countries are competing annually. Pilipinos have already won Countless Grand Championship Gold Medals for both Singing and Dancing. I have to see Koreans win to prove their worth. Just scan all the Singers/Artists on YT and you'll find Pilipinos so much, much more than Koreans nor any Asian for that matter. Oh I forgot about a couple of very good Korean Artists, Kim So-hyang and also Ailee.

SB19 believed in their dream to reach global market & they did. ❤❤❤

Si Lisa nga ng blackpink nagkakaroon ng pag differentiate sa mga Koreans kasi she is THAI kahit part of a (South) Korean group at talented siya. SB19 was clear na PPop sila trained by/in a Korean Company/System. POP MUSIC has existed worldwide eversince naman yung pag categorize lang yung nag exist lately like adding K to K-Pop. Hoping na maging successful ang Hori7on sa endeavors nila sa SoKor at ma protect sila from harsh reality ng industry. Marami na rin kasing Pinoy from reality shows na nag attempt.

They are influenced by world music. kpop happened to popularize the sync dancing while singing ..but it is just one aspect of performing and staying relevant in the industry. The songs of SB19 composed by Pablo made all the great difference, so definitely 100% Ppop/OPM

No offense but J-pop or C-pop are way more likely influenced or look like Kpop than Ppop cause based on watching MVs and Songs in Ppop they showcase more of their Philippine culture.

This is why now that SB is established they have their own 1z entertainment so they can promote Pinoy talents in the PINOY way, which is the right way because Filipino talent EVERSINCE are way more versatile! I remember way back...Madrigal singers winning competitions in Asia....Pilita Corrales, Kuh Ledesma, Regine Velasquez, to name a few, from way back being invited to sing with famous foreign artists whether they hold concerts in P.I. or abroad...so who"d say who"s copying who? It's all but fusion for Pinoys, not with just one country who is just being recognized at this time. Try to Compare the Following Scenarios Below for your Own Knowledge. 1. During the Late 2010s, Both SB19 & a Multinational Asian Pop 🎵🎶 Co-Ed Group named Z-Stars (in its Original OT14 Line-Up) were Accused & Misunderstood by Some Members of the Domestic 🇵🇭/International Public as "K-Pop Copycats" and/or "K-Pop Wannabes". (When their Respective Marketing Strategies are of Respectful Nature Without the Need of Misusing the K-Pop Label by Using the Infamous Pop 🎵🎶 Genre's Infrastructures & Doing Everything Almost Similar to Actual K-Pop Groups.) 2. Before NiZiu's (a 9-Member J-Pop 👧 Group from 🇯🇵 Managed by JYP Entertainment) Debut During the Pre-Covid Era, Boy Story (a Younger, 6-Member 🇨🇳 👦-Band Who is Also Managed by JYP Entertainment) Attended a K-Pop Event in 🇹🇭 as its Only 🇨🇳 Mandopop Act. Most of the K-Pop Stans (Who Attended the Event Itself as Non-Fans of JYP Groups) Felt That Boy Story - Along with Other Asian Pop 🎵🎶 Groups Which Don't Belong with the K-Pop 🎵🎶 Genre in 🇰🇷 - Shouldn't Be Invited as Actual Performers in K-Pop Events. On the Other Hand, Loyal JYP Fans Who Attended the Same Event Itself Came to Boy Story's Defence (However, Mr. JYP Once Mentioned in an Interview that Boy Story will Only Be Focusing on the 🇨🇳 Mandopop Market with No Plans to Expand its Pop 🎵🎶 Career Into the K-Pop 🎵🎶 Industry Within 🇰🇷.) 3. Meanwhile Within the Present Era, a Number of K-Pop KZreadrs & Stans Think that It's Acceptable to Mention XG in Everything Related to K-Pop. (When the Global 👧 Group Itself is K-Pop Inspired, Fully Consisting of 🇯🇵 Members, Managed by a Once Famous 🇯🇵 J-Pop Company But Being Based in 🇰🇷 in Order to Both Use K-Pop Infrastructures for Gaining International Popularity & Doing Everything Almost Similar to Actual K-Pop Groups.) SB19, Z-Stars, NiZiu, Boy Story Along with &Team, JO1 & INI are K-Pop Inspired Non-Korean Asian Pop 🎵🎶 Groups Who Promote(d) Themselves Respectfuly. (By Claiming Themselves as Pop Musicians of their Respective Singing Languages & 🏠 Countries Without the Need of Misusing K-Pop Label in Order to Gain International Popularity.) Whereas XG's Weird & Disrespectful Marketing Strategy of Promoting Itself Like an Actual K-Pop Group Within 🇰🇷 But Didn't Identify Itself as an Actual K-Pop Group. Can Everyone Here See the Unfairness & Double Standards When Comparing the Combination of Scenarios 1️⃣ and 2️⃣ with Scenario 3️⃣ All by Itself? 😡😠🤬😤 As for XG, I Wish that It Can Completely Disassociate Itself with K-Pop ASAP. [By Both Shifting its Country Base of Marketing from 🇰🇷 to 🇺🇲 (or At Least Another Country with Major English-Speaking Population) & Enter the J-Pop 🎵🎶 Industry by Re-Singing All of its 🇬🇧 Language Songs Into the 🇯🇵 Language.]
