When Phil Kicked Miss Kay Out, How Lisa Told Al the Truth, Double Lives, and Desperation | Ep 195

Miss Kay and Lisa Robertson sit down in the Unashamed Lair with Phil and Al. After roasting Jase in his absence, the ladies open up about what it's really like to be a Robertson woman. Miss Kay reveals what attracted her to Phil, what she had against nice boys, how their first date went, and why Phil dumped her when they were teenagers. Lisa explains how she and Al got together, what their relationship was like when she just thought she was a Christian, and how she told Al the truth about her affair. This sets the stage for a candid discussion of the ways we justify sin, living a double life, and the desperate moments that lead to healing when we cry out for God.

I will never forget the day I realized I needed a Savior. I'd spent many years pretending I was a Christian. But in 2010 my life was a collection of bad thing after bad thing, the worst of which was cancer and cancer treatment. In the midst of that a son gets arrested for having pot at school and my 22 year old unmarried daughter tells me she's pregnant. The world seemed to be crashing down and on top of it all I was afraid I was going to die and leave these kids in a mess. Well I went thru treatment, right before I was being taken back major surgery my surgeon came behind the curtain in the preop room and asked me "Do you mind if I pray for you?" I told him I did not mind, I was scared and honestly I thought him praying meant he was scared for me too. Well that doctor that believed in Jesus and prayed for me started an ember burning in my soul. It made me tear up and made me feel loved in ways I never felt love before. After that moment I began to see things differently. And mostly I began to see myself as I was, I began to see how perfect Jesus was and how imperfect I was. I was ashamed of my past choices and I truly saw how I could never raise myself up to where Jesus was. But I could also see that He could save me and I begged Him to. From that moment on my life changed, the Holy Spirit changed everything about me. I only desired to serve the Lord. I recovered and went into remission, my son went thru a program where he gave up drugs and had his charges dismissed. My daughter gave birth to this most amazing little boy, who was a blessing we didn't even know we needed. She married his daddy and 3 years after my grandson was born my granddaughter was born. Through this last decade we have seen this world turn upside down, I know that knowing Jesus is the only thing that has saved us from being sucked in and bamboozled by this terrible world. I'm so thankful for my precious Jesus, he saved my entire family.

God used cancer to reveal just how much my husband loves me. It forced me to let go of hurt and pain I was holding on to. Maybe someone with cancer will read this and know that God has a plan for them too. It’s not for them to suffer but for them to trust and come through a fire they have been asking God to bring them through. Congrats on those grand babies! Prayers your son holds strong.

I really love that Miss. Kay’s reaction to phill having a daughter, was “ I always wanted a daughter.” That to me was definitely an eye opener. I love how it was mentioned that when she forgave him, she forgave him for everything. That is so powerful and so strong, and I can definitely understand now how you two made it together for so many years. This really softened my heart and made me think about how I react. I struggle with this. I watched duck dynasty but never seen episodes of Unashamed. This was suggested on my page, and I can definitely see why. Bigot racist reacts with its emotions than intellect, living in fear entrapped under a subconscious threshold fighting for power, powerless influenced, than empowering others. Racism isn't courteous and just to all and loses its confidence, but one who can put everyone in their heart has their vote and nothing to fear. @@christineadams1284 Jesus Christ died for all, those who do and don't believe, but those who believe in Him are saved. Having this thinking that one version of the bible is the only way and thinking you don't have to go to church is "man-made" religious thinking. The Lord knows the heart of those that are His. I am glad you try to stay true to following the ten commandments, but Jesus commands us to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, all your strength and all your mind" and to "Love your neighbor as yourself" Luke 10:27. The old testament law(10 commandments) is a reminder of how sinful we are and that we fall short of the glory of God, it reminds us of our need of a savior (Jesus). Also, the bible speaks about "do not neglect the gathering together as is the habit of some" Hebrews 10:25, "Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of scripture, to exhortation, to teaching." 1Tim. 4:13. Scriptures backing the fact that we are to go to church, you can find these scriptures in the KJV too.

I am the same way, I have always been open to talk just about anything as long as we are honest and respectful. The reason theres so many problems in our families and churches is because people can't be 100% honest. They somehow believe they can deceive God in the end, or make excuses. And people who call themselves baptized with the Holy Spirit, they lie and manipulate, and always act like they're the victim after they attack me. And absolutely no one on my wife's side except 1 person, can you really talk in depth about any subject, because they all have their traditions they say they respect but they don't ( ive seen it with my own eyes) and obviously they can't talk in detail about any subject because it makes them feel guilty. I just don't understand why can't we just be honest with ourselves, and look to lift people up and not throw them down.

@@darlene9145 and Sargon Notice, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory" Rom 3:23. This is speaking past tense, “all have”. This is why Paul also wrote; “How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?” Romans 6:2, because dead things don’t do anything! He continued; “I am (We are) crucified with Christ, never the less I (we) live, yet not I (we), but Christ lives in me (us):…” Galatians 2:20. No, John in 1 John 2:1 say’s, “These things I write to you, so that you may not sin”. Paul and John are speaking the same thing. Sin is what the ‘children of the devil’ do, not what the ‘children of God’ do. See, 1 John 3:8 and 10. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to go and sin no more. Why if it is impossible? Because it is possible! Romans 6:2 “How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Great question! The answer is, by ‘not’ walking in the Spirit! That’s how we can live in sin. But read Romans 8, its our instructions of hope and victory. The Spirit in us, who believe, is able to aid us powerfully to keep us from sin. Galatians 5:16 say’s, “ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” We are crucified with Christ as Paul noted in Galatians 2:20. Then, Galatians 5:24,25, “ And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Bottom line, to continue with John saying; we are to sin not (1 John 2:1), "And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:" Advocate means; someone standing in a court of law between the victim and the Judge., the advocate (Jesus) saying to the Judge (God), this one is mine, and is growing in grace (Titus 2:11-14), are you. Repent and trust in Jesus. He's the only way. We deserve Hell because we've sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23❤😊❤❤

Ones reflection and reputation is better than a name under lights, when its heart shines onto others without the lime life. The weak hearted gives into evil and the wicked servants of influence, powerless, immoral and without a will. One doesn't rule the land , its rules are for one, an only mindless humans kill others to consume it, leaving the meat behind in need of breadth with an eye of destruction. Moreover if the wise opens its door to its heart for another, honey is sweeter than sugar and the truth cures diseases, for it cant let it go blind and be wise.

I bought my husband 3 books for Christmas just past, and he is bawling his eyes out reading. We watch these postcast every Sunday since Covid hit. 8 ppl in our church have recently had it and our retired pastor (Hap) nearly died 3 weeks ago. Anyway, watching this day and hearing your testimonies, I just told my husband, “What a Raw episode!”. We’ve been married 44 years, not easy ones. I grew up abused (picked up in Lisa, and I believe I heard in past Missy had been, or at least is working with women who have been), from the time I was 3 till I ran at almost 18 to prevent him from taking what he had worked all my life to have. Slept in tree forts, and alleys, till I met my ex, who was as vile as he was violent. After many broken bones, the loss of a first born (due to his rape), to him braking 9 of our 8 month old sons ribs, concussion, contusions and more, the Lord found me. I was 22. I served in a street ministry for 3 years but always felt like an outsider, and left at 25. Then I met a lady in the waiting room of a county jail on my way to see my brother. She told me she wished her son could meet a girl like me. She loved the Lord too. We were married in Folsom Prison and now have 44 years in. Not easy years. He didn’t believe in the Lord to begin, then 2 years later, gave his life to Christ. Most of it anyway. He had a Lisa moment which made me cry a lot, but God is faithful, so here we sit, back in 5e deep woods and are blessed with your stories and books. Thanks Phil and Kay-for being so open about the hard times as well as the good ones. Till today, I thought I was alone in those type years...(all our friends have perfect lives and children who serve God. Must go, husband is bawling again, and it’s a good thing. I forgot to mention, we have lost 2 sons. One @ 18 and one at 30. The law says suicide. So, we both live with that one too, and till he picked your book up just 3 days ago, his heart has been kind of damaged. Blessings many to you and yours. Your sister in Christ, Judy (and Andy who loves Phil like a brother he will see one day!)

Wow that hour flew by. Really great show today from 3 really amazing people. Thank you God for Phil, Kay, Lisa, & Allen. Unfortunately I have been there too. With my ex-girlfriend I was about to propose then suspected she was seeing my aunt's stepson. We both left each other on the same day. I came home from work to confront her and give the ultimatum of leave or tell me the truth. But came home to a note "tired of the BS I'm gone". She tried to come back 13 months later by telling me she was pregnant with my kid (of course a lie key was 13 months). She went through a divorce 15 years later. And wanted to come back but I was not quite ready. Then about a year later I tried to contact her but she had passed 3 weeks before. So in my case it was to late to try again. I think of her often because I do love her. Now thanks to this podcast, I live for the Lord God and of course I still struggle with the sin of cussing. But every day I get better at stopping myself. Use to be every hour or less I'd cuss. But in last 7 months I'm down to 3 to 5 days. My next goal is a week. Which I'm determined to do by end of 2020. And trust me this year has been hard with loosing my trucking business and COVID to loosing my Dad and many people I knew just in the last month. Although this has put me closer to God. In the last month I find myself preying more now then just after leaving the catholic school in the 4th grade. My next goal is going a month. Then free of the foul language. The devil's grip on my mouth is slipping away after 39 years of cussing like a sailor. And not even realizing it got that bad. The 1st thing I did was quit using the Lord's name in vein. That is gone now. It's forms of the F bomb and SOB I haven't quite kicked yet. My entire family used and still does use these words like we should use the word of God. My normal morning prayer goes something like this. "Father in Heaven thank you for allowing me to wake for another day and I ask you help in living this day to serve you and be as sin free as I can. And please forgive my sins from yesterday and for the sins I will do today for we are all sinners, Lord. And please help me in not cussing today for I am trying to live to serve you. In Jesus name... Amen".

When couples break up that easily they got married for the wrong reason - usually lust. We've been married almost 52 years. A pastor introduced us. During premarital counseling he sad don't get married because you want to be together. Get married if you can't imagine life without the other person in it. If God isn't in your marriage it will fail. He was right. He said men get married thinking the woman won't change but she will. Women think after they're married they can get the man to change but they can't. We always fight fair and don't bring up old issues that have been resolved.

I felt completely worthless and absolutely devastated. For me, there is shame in saying I'm divorced. Right now I can't imagine bring open for that hurt again because just like Alan said, people are people. This podcast gives me hope that healing happens.

Ones reflection and reputation is better than a name under lights, when its heart shines onto others without the lime life. The weak hearted gives into evil and the wicked servants of influence, powerless, immoral and without a will.

Unite their hearts to fear your name. Give them the power to overcome the enemy that is robbing their joy. Put their marriage back together, and make them stronger individually, and as a couple. Lord, they became one flesh when they got married, and I pray that you would keep them one flesh. Bind Satan, and cast him away from their marriage.
