I'm glad you enjoyed your journey but please comprehend how slavery works. Just because you got shipped doesn't mean the one who didn't get shipped were not enslaved. Many nations with large amount of people with high amounts of melanin have been colonized and forced into servitude to the Count. Study the polices and wars of the world. It is that very thought process that leads many in America to not want to be associated with their lineage . I and I are one !

What if this was where white people were the slaves and sold. Turn the story around. This is the dungeons for white people known as "albinos" who were thought of as evil because they were born with less melanin than others and the Royals of Africa wanted them gone off the lands. They were seen as cursed. Then for the white people's revenge they went around the world colonizing because nobody did anything for them when they were enslaved ??? Say that "Black" people instead was already living all around the planet in each of the continents because the Earth is their planet and white people were new to them some excepted them and some didn't. Therefore when you have a day of return in Ghana all you see is the "white" people known as albinos.

ohsevenone The Slave Trade that existed in Africa then was mostly like this, Tribes go to War, one defeat the other, they capture the losers as slaves to help around the Chiefs' Palace, homes of high borns and homes of their mistress. They had laws which served as deterrent to run-aways and mostly you get to rejoin your people after your duration of Service or by Amnesty from your Owner. Nobody was forcing anyone to work like Animals and slaves were only caged just to tame them during an escape attempt or a rebellion cos we Akans believe in Singularity as defeat on it's own....this is an account by my late Grandma.

Why didnt you visit Haiti to see the still today real existing slaves? There are still today 300.000 child-slaves called "restavek". They are usually 5 - 15 year old girls who have to work entire day, sleep on the bare floor, eat only the leftovers, are not allowed to sit in the house and are not allowed to speak unless its about the chores or when they are spoken to and are not allowed to talk or meet with friends, especially other restaveks. Why didnt you go to other countries where slavery still exists, like Yemen, Mauretania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan or Libya?

I watch the video start to finish. It's a shame about the audio. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I have also been here, the tour cut me up inside. The thing that upset me of the most was the comments in the visitors book at the end of the tour. Most the of comments started like this " As a Dutch man, you can not blame my country from your poor business choices." I thought how can you say such a thing after completing the whole tour?! Also in the the rooms where the women were kept you can still smell the blood from their periods in the rooms. This fort was built as a ploy, which truly let's me know they knew were doing was truly evil. One day I will go back, but the truth of this history has to be taught world wide.

KWELI05, Not heritage yes. However, you are right to say that those denying the fact that slavery existed are wrong, any people who deny who truly they are, can't progress, is better you accept it, and make corrections on how to move forward. I always tell people if you want to understand colonization and slavery start from Angola, DRC, GHANA, GABON, CAMEROON, most importantly Angola, DRC, because back then Portugal was a major European power and showed the way for other Europeans to follow. Angola, DRC were the first serious settlement for the Portuguese, that's why God had to use the same entry point to expel the evil, that's why Mfumu KIMBANGU Mvuluzi was born there, again in 1917 Mary's appearance in Fátima to announce the arrival of our saviour, MFUMU KIMBANGU Mvuluzi, even with that blacks are ignoring. Well, we are passing on the message, and videos like these are helping. Wake up Africans, God heard the suffering of Africans and black people in general.

I have been there. The emotions I felt were like no other. I could literally smell the death near the door of no return. You see all the little sparrows flying around in and outside of the Castle. When we were inside near the door of no return, there was a little sparrow that looked like it was near death. The guide picked it up and the bird sat calmly in his hand for several minutes, then out of nowhere, the bird was full of life a flew away. It was actually really chilling and amazing at the same time. I caught the perfect picture of the bird flying out of the guide's hands! (*disclaimer: I am not sure if they are actually Sparrows, that's just what came to mind upon their appearance). I am glad you didn't have to pay, but honestly if I had video capability when I went I would have paid to film. 200 Cedi is like $35 US, quite worth it for memories IMO. Thank you for sharing your experience. ❤

Sorry but they were native ingenious people not black. How did our colour change? And stop stealing from ingenious people heritage there isn't much of them left the ones in America are on reservations the first nations in Canada they still face discrimination. In the Caribbean they are almost wiped out only the island of dominica, in the mountains of Puerto rico and they are mixed on st. Vincent , Dominican republic and Trinidad and of course south America in countries like Guyana, Brazil, bolivioa etc.. They have Asian like eyes and are called amerindians. Ive seen some being from the Caribbean and all. They are not copper coloured either more a redish-yellow. Native Austrailians are only black in skin colour they are not even remotely related to Africans but rather Indians from INDIA and south east Asia....by that logic you used dark skin Indians, people from poloynesia are black too. try doing research....denial is a terrible thing....black people are prisoners of war...from their ancestors who fought neighbouring tribes and took men and women and children and sold for guns and other European products. I forgive the Africans that was the world back then.....

It is a very emotional place to visit. It keeps our sad history alive. All your comments are appreciated. Those we call "white" people also have ancestors from our enslaved brothers and sisters. Remember that it takes only one generation of people of mixed heritage to produce a white child even when they have black grand parents. Let us all learn from this sad history. What are the things you would like to see changed or done better at Cape Coast Castle? Please share your views. Thank you.

This is a placed of self reflection of the suffering, degradation and injustice of our ancestors. The fact that you had to pay a fee to visit your, and I repeat Your! Ancestral home is dispicable. Only non ancestral people should be asked to pay.

It's quite old. And yes it is a tourist attraction. What do you think to do to keep it in good shape? Blacks don't own slavery as in it only happened to black people. Chinese, Irish, criminals, etc. have all been enslaved. Slavery wasn't a new concept for black people. Slavery has been going on for thousands of years. Probably since humans had settlements. So don't think you can claim it.

I FEEL ALL RACES SHOULD GO especially Caucasian so they can see first hand and feel the vibes of our ancestors as a walk through the dungeons. So they will know how it feels to be stripped from your families and all you know and brought into a inhumane place and be enclosed like farm animals to be brought somewhere you will not know a foreign country and sold like cattle they need to feel and understand why we feel the way we feel today and I can't even say cattle because they treated livestock better then they treated us. We all need to know our history as black people in America teach our sons or daughters because they trying to wipe it away like it never happened they have Rappers and other influential people Saying enslavement was a choice. What your roots went through to get to America on those slave ships was never a choice. We are so confused as a people we don't know where we came from who we came from that's why we remain ignorant we want to belong so bad that's why we enter mixed with other people and treat our own bad because of the belonging and wanting to belong to a race that we we where made to forget we where really were kings and queens we really had to riches we were Sons and Daughters of great people but the ones who sold us wiped it away so I our identity was stripped that is how you control the mass. Why do you say everyone else know our history but we don't as a people of African American descent all the nationalities of the world know who we are but we can't begin to know who we are

But it also angers me because no one (Europeans and Africans) cared about my ancestors sold into slavery and the continent of Africa never tried to claim us either during that time. Watching this is hard. I went there with a small group from my congregation a couple years ago. Walking through was really hard for me, the heaviness was so real. I didn't appreciate how my brothers and sisters responded so nonchalantly to it all, it felt... wrong, disrespectful, arrogant even. I was tense from the moment I stepped foot on the grounds. It's an experience I'll never forget. If I have children, I'm bringing them there myself. As hard as it is, I feel it's an experience everyone should have. You can read every history book and article available, watch every video, but being there, seeing it with your own eyes... It hits different.
