I think the reasons for NorCal people bringing it up more probably differ. For SF/bay area people yeah that's probably accurate. But for the rest it's like when someone clarifies they're from Upstate NY vs the City. The culture is just violently different and I never see it talked about anywhere.

As a NorCal resident who grew up in the Bay Area but loves traveling to So Cal including LA, OC, SD this is a funny video. So Cal ppl are definitely more aggressive, and entitled along with being maniacs driving on the road I can say that Nor Cal people for the most part tend to be a bit more passive, liberal and less confrontational. However, without generalizing you can find both in each regions of the state as the end of the day it’s still California. Nor Cal people definitely wear Patagonia, Northface, and have more of a “preppy” elitist mentality whereas So Cal tends to be more of a jock, actor/actress glamour vibes haha 😂
