The series was the peak of the 90's New York Renaissance. The Rangers won the 1994 Stanley Cup, the Giants won Super Bowl XXV, Patrick Ewing led the Knicks, the Devils won two championships, and the Yankees championship revival. The Cold War ended, and immigrants were flocking to the United States, surpassing Ellis Island. The Twin Towers became a global icon. New York's brand skyrocketed.

My favorite game of all time. I still have my 2000 Subway Series World Series t-shirt. Thank you for the excellent memories Joe Torre, Mariano, Jorge, Derek, and The Whole 2000 NY Yankee Team. Never better.

22:34 - “we got 5 in the 9th” and they show NONE of it hahaha. Piazza 2-R bomb & a Payton 3-R bomb.. and Todd Zeile was 4in away from a 3rd HR in the inning. And this was all off the greatest closer in history. Yanks go into 9th up 6-0 & barely hang on for the 6-5 W. Imagine making a doc on the 2000 WS & not showing one moment from this insane 9th inning. What a tragic thing.

I've never been to New York state, let alone the main city but I can imagine it was a helluva time to live through the 2000 World Series AND the 9/11 terrorists attacks.
I lived in an apartment at the time, and the landlord downstairs was a huge Mets fan. When Piazza flied out to Bernie Williams to end the series, I remember jumping purposely up and down on the floor so they could hear my excitement. I went out to Model's the next morning and bought a WS Yankees Championship t shirt so I could wear it to work and rub in the Mets fans' faces. I remember it said 3 in a row. It wasn't the Mets team I disliked it was the Mets fans. I guess Yankees fans can be a holes at times 😂
A different time in America. I watched just about every inning except the first 2 of game 2 on Sunday. I walked in the east Brunswick Hilton bar just after Roger vs piazza at bat. Watched game one @ Chammps in Edison NJ. Game 2 at the Hilton EB NJ. Game 3 & 4 at home. Game 5 at Tradewinds Seabright NJ.
Crazy they still made this documentary despite the pandemic. I agree with that guy how crazy it was when NYC was a ghost town because of the pandemic. I remember a friend of mine posted photos on social media of how NYC was dead. I never saw anything like that. When I think of NYC I think of big crowds lots of people walking on the streets.

I knew that Narrator was familiar, its Hercules
Back when baseball ⚾️ was at its peak
Steinbrenner's obsession with visitor's clubhouse at Shea didn't cause the furniture move till AFTER game 3, trucks arrived the morning of game 4. Up to that time, this was one of the lowest rated TV coverage of a Series nationally. Clemens is a steroid fiend liar.
I totally understand that not a lot of people outside of the NYC area bothered to watch this series or will watch this documentary. Beating its own drum a little too loud...nevertheless, Go Mets!

Don't forget Timo freakin' Perez and Ventura's ball hitting the top of the fence. If Perez runs (like he was supposed to with 2 outs) or if that ball is ONE INCH farther, you're looking at a Mets win in Game 1 and who knows what happens after that. It would have changed the series completely.

Joe Buck and Tim Mccarver make this video so anticlimactic. I get that they are presented as a "neutral party" but I would much rather hear the radio announcers for both teams intertwined to match the excitement of the game. In a video about New York teams, the National broadcast isn't very NY.
