We can see clearly that after the rise of bp in nepali politics there was an increment in influence of india and king mahendra was trying to protect nepal from indian influence and to recognise nepal as a separate nation not a part of india on a international level and to move nepal towards prosperity . The above video where king mahendra walks in un assembly proves it and it makes me fell like POWERFULL PEOPLE MAKES PLACES POWERFULL . His majesty's vision,decisions,influence,diplomacy and his presence was fabulous and none of today's politicians can stand near to his toe...after seeing such raise on his power and on his family india mysteriously massacred him and his family....still india as a neighbour is a curse to nepal... Earlier King prithivi naraya shah has already warned us to be careful with india...every time i study about our royal family they amazed me and they were far visionary from the beginning.

Bk koirala was a visionary leader of the time and people then absolutely loved him. Politics and democratic practice was at the very beginning. The chances are if the coup hadn't happened in 1962, democracy would've managed to develop within the society. Not evolving into something of today. Maybe our country could've been very different from what we know about today. Maybe for a better or for the worst but the thing is Nepal and Nepali people had a huge loss that day. I have beeen above 35 , from small i have seen numerous discrimination implemented even educated society embraces it, in urban areas we cant see in physical but in mentality it is still harvest

He was very optimistic person when it comes to development but as we know that our clans ppl demanded to make airport at phk 60yrs back but late king denied because he need popultuon to stay in kathmandu against rana raj. Our ppls were only used for democractic values which was heavy at that periods. Mahendra did good for us but when times were passing he was very much afraid of external powers from india

Well that was not the dark period but the golden period in modern nepal

It was a different time period. The world was divided into two polar i.e USSR and the west. Neutral and weaker countries were getting bought and sold by these two sides. Politicians and political parties were being bought to compromise the whole nation in their favour. Dictators were being installed, armed revolution and civil wars were being funded all over the world. There was a nuclear threat looming over the earth. India was just a new country trying to find its way. It was going through a metamorphosis phase, adding new territories and losing some. While we blame India, we have to understand that India too was under the grip of USSR. India was already compromised by USSR. China had also invaded and annexed Tibet. And looking forward to annex Nepal under Mao's 5 finger policy. The world had yet to recognize Nepal as a separate nation. Otherwise, we were just another tiny state in the cluster of hundreds of such states in the Indian subcontinent. So, Mahendra saw the move as necessary to maintain the integrity and sovereignty of Nepal.

KING , PM & INDIA : A great misfortune for Nepal as His Highness King Mahendra & then incumbent Rt. honourable Prime Minister B.P Koirala were of two different idoligies.Under his regime the pace of development can be tagged as the golden era of the modern times. And his intelligence would allow him to forecast the Indian sentiments toward Nepal : dominance & his guts would never let his country to fall under Indian control. On the other hand, B.P- the chosen leader who was as mighter as the king himself & a true patriort. The neighbours played beautifully here by harnessing B.P´s clear vision of Democracy. NCP & INC were basically the same, eg: Jai Nepal - Jai Hind. On this regard, the development going on Nepal under Mahendra was the foremost thing disliked by India. And the Coup led India to perfectly write a script for future multiparty system of Nepal.

If Poush 1st did not arrive then our democracy would have been much more mature. Mature democracy means more awareness among people. As we can see the current scenario, only after the 1st term of HR, people become so insightful that they poured their frustration through votes. We can see more changes after 5 years. So, periodic elections are very important which is possible only in democracy. What Mahendra did was not good. He held the country for 3 decades and there were no elections during that time. Also, nationality can be strengthened only in democracy.
