And bron is a better help defender. Nothing else in basketball, lebron does better or even as good as kobe. Bron stopped playing defense before kobe, I don't mean "season 8/season 9" I mean bron stopped playing defense in 2012 because he was lazy/scared/too heavy from his muscle, and not good enough as a scorer to play D all game and still ball out on O. Luckily he had wade and battier and bosh. Then shump, Matt deli.

Most randos dont understand how intelligent Kobe was. He was a student of the game, a master by the end of his career. Everyone else is looking at the game zoomed out, clapping and cheering. This man had a microscope on every aspect of the game. Kobe knew he wasnt the biggest, the strongest, the most athletic. He made up for all that with sheer will, intensity, preparation, and hard work. His approach to the game and life was phenomenal. Im not the type of person to idolize celebs and athletes, not by any means, but i have to admit that when Kobe passed, it HURT.

Only problem is the last game they played against each other (2015-2016), Warriors won 116 - 98 with Steph shooting 9-18 and 8-16 from 3PT. So, Steph must have worked on his shot against Kobe. However, Kobe and the Lakers in that same season won the two games before that, with Steph going 6-20 (1-10 3PT), and 10-21 (4-12 3PT; which still ain't bad). That was the season they went 73-9, so the Lakers beating them twice that season was pretty monumental. They also won the two games before that in the 2014-2015 season (when GSW went 67-15 for the season and winning the title), with Steph going 10-19 (5-9 3PT), and 10-19 (3-8). The stats for those 5 games, Steph averaged 9-19 (4-11 3PT), 8.2 Assists, 2.4 Turnovers, and 25.8 Points, which is still a great shooting percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio.

Definitely, but a disadvantage about this is that you’re giving them an easy lane to get to the rim. Unless you trust your big man to lock down the paint (stopping all drives, making sure no one sneaks behind him for easy buckets and NO fouling) it’s almost impossible for most players to defend this way. Curry relies on his shooting too much and Kobe was a lockdown defender so it works for him, but all this really does is make curry slightly uncomfortable to most players (aka ineffective).

Shuffle the feet instead of rossing em, use that forearm smartly to touch and redirect (move it asap ofc lol) and relish the physicality of banging with ur chest. You def gotta know your next 4 moves if you take that approach. Like u said, Kobe was lockdown so he knew if steph took off. He could cover and lead him right to the help side. I'm at the age where I grew up watching Jordan. We had WGN as a kid so I watched Jordan even early in his career. This was when the bad boys of Detroit were dominating the East. I then got to watch MJ develop into the best on the league and win 6 championships so I have always been team Jordan. Kobe was clearly special but the more I hear about his work ethic and how he studied the game makes me see things differently. It's not that Kobe was the next Jordan, he was the first Kobe. He outworked everyone, knew more, and was more driven than anyone. Yes, Jordan is still my GOAT but Kobe is right up there. He may not have been blessed with the hands or muscle of Jordan but I don't think anyone worked harder than Kobe so my respect for him has only grown stronger. RIP Kobe, it would have been interesting to see what Kobe did in the second chapter of his life. I think he may have bought a team just like Jordan. Kobe could not stay away from competition. He may have even coached. Whatever it was, he would have been great at it. 🖖
