I need this kg story animated for sure as well as the kg story about scrimmaging with MJ & Scottie while isiah Thomas before he got to the league
KG should be a narrator
In 1995, it made perfect sense for Pat Riley to think and feel that way about high school basketball players.

@NoBiasAllBoxing facts it's always been high school players good enough to go pro..I'm pretty sure Wilt and Kareem could've went pro before Moses Malone

@elbowgang9715 - Prior to 1995, less than a handful of basketball players went from high school to the pros. It simply was not done. It did not matter how talented you were believed to be. The league, the teams, the media and the fans were not set up to allow, support and expect that to happen.

All the hindsight is 20/20 experts starts coming out now. Highschool players weren't looked at like that in that era. All drafted middle to low in the draft.
KG came in so ferocious. If you didn't see it happen you don't understand the monsters of men that were already in the league when KG got there. Young bucks don't step in like KG did and start doing what KG did. Seemed like he got respect around the league at an accelerated rate for somebody his age. I'm not sure Kobe got it that fast. The combo of him and Marbury was sick. I had some damn And 1 Marbury shoes. They were so cold to watch. KG had the utmost intensity, and Marbury was just one of those cool, smooth cats. It was awesome.

Kobe was the first thing that came to mind. Not even Kobe got to start right away. Great point.
Two things come to my mind from this story. First, this was Pat Riley's first season as a Miami coach after leaving NY. I believe had Garnett slipped in the draft, Riley and the Heat wouldve drafted Garnett with the 10th pick in the draft. But they ended up selecting Kurt Thomas instead. Also, had KG went to college, he would've been a one and done player and would've been selected in the 96 season draft with Kobe, Nash, AI, Ray Allen and greatest draft of all-time.

1996 was tough! But 1984 draft still 🐐

@@dgabeau I had to pull some data....(The 1984 NBA Draft class holds the record for most all-time combined Most Valuable Player Award awards (7), while it is tied with the 1996 class for most individual MVP winners (3). Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's (drafted in 1969) six MVP trophies are the most for any individual player in NBA history.)

haha. he’s so captivating. 😅
Riley's only way to put some tension into the workout - to be able to judge the "highschooler's" response to pressure
What people don't realize and what KG doesn't realize is that playing better the angrier you get is only supposed to make you better UP TO A POINT. After that point, you will begin to decline in performance. KG is one of those rare players whose anger point before he falls off is high as fuck. Not to mention he's a skilled 7 footer in 1995. Bro went into big dawg mode probably hit a bunch of shots in a row, was shit talking himself loud as fuck and shit was just a performance in itself.
KG on the Heat wouldve been 🔥
😂😂

The reason why Riley was annoyed by looking at a high schooler is it made him feel lesser of a status symbol of the game. Riley is a stubborn arrogant fool, he does know things and is good at his job, but still a fool.

What the HELL are you talking about? "Stop it. Get some help" - Michael Jordan. Go outside and hug a tree. Highschoolers were NOT looked at back then. Even though a few made the league before KG...they were still not looked at back then. Stop trying to SOUND smart and do the research to BE smart. 🙄
