You can try keeping your wrists facing the same direction. It makes the surface area of your wrists larger so when you rotate them into each other your wrists take up less space which can slip through. I know it works for zip ties not sure about tape

No, the first thing to focus on is how flimsy that tape is the way he taped her up. I don't mean to disappoint anyone but I can't imagine anyone using that thin duct tape (lookalike) or only taping around the outside of the wrist, but if you are lucky enough to be taped up that way, yes you can probably get out of it without all the over the head motions.
