Bec he was out of u watch it from the angle Gilbert burns posted u see his whole body go completely limp from the elbows and that’s when the ref rushed in. The impact of him hitting the ground is what woke him back up but fight was already called off when the ref saw him go limp

Well said. He even said himself that it was a good stoppage he was out but you know I will never stop I'll keep going. He's a warrior he has the heart of a fighter and a warrior so unless he is literally dead or permanently brain damaged and on the canvas snoring then this guy is going to keep fighting so the flash knocked out to him was just get right back up and go back at it. Obviously it was a flash knockout because he even thought it was the end of the round he didn't realize the fight was stopped so the moment that the fight was stopped is when he was slightly unconscious for however long and then he came back to but they had to explain to him that he was out in the fight was stopped that it was not just the end of the round.

This man is surely bigger than many winners

Jiri is my favorite LHW. Honor and integrity, and a beast with creative methods.

Best part was that it shut up the commentators saying it was an early stoppage

Marc Goddard is an exceptional referee. It is one of the most insanely tough and thankless jobs on a world stage. There is sometimes a matter of seconds before permanent brain damage and even death in these fights. The fact we have such talented referees to step in and stop the bout when the time is right is honestly amazing. Sure sometimes they may get it wrong. Fighters will say “let me go out in my shield” but that’s not the referees job. They want to see you go home to your family.

Mark Goddard is one of the best mma refs there is and for jiri to back him up and says it was the right call is a noble thing, respect to jiri and I hope to see him make another title run.

You know I wanted to say that was early, but jiri admitted he was out, and on top of that you can’t let a fighter sustain that many hits to the head, it’s just not right. Great ref stoppage!

Bad stoppage. Jiri said later he could have kept fighting. Jiri makes come backs in all his fights. Then Goddard stops it when Alex falls in a sloppy mount that jiri could have reverse and scrambled out of. Jiri probably would have been ko but we don’t know and the past says he may of had a good chance.

Jiri wants it and from history you know he is the king of turning things around so I would disagree with this stoppage. I would say 2 or 3 good unanswered shots or a sign of going out one more time then I’d call it, but I just say you have to let that play out I’m 50-50 whether Jiri scrambles and survives with his samurai instinct or if Pereira brutally ko’s him from mount. Securing all the control he needs from big ground and pound.

Reffing is a such a difficult job. No one is going to recognize a great stoppage, but only give criticism on a bad stoppage. When a guy is on the brink of losing consciousness, you cant argue a stoppage. These reffs deserve respect

It was not early, jiri was out cold when the left hook hit him. Woke up when he hit the floor. He’s just such a warrior that he kept fighting. He prob could have survived and kept fighting if it wasn’t stopped, but he was taking a lot of damage while going in and out of consciousness. It was the right call.

Marc Godard is a top tier ref and would never question his stoppages.. he has been wrong rarely but it happens and it’s a tough pill but overall one of the best in the world!

The rule is clear: when the fighter fall and grab the opponent legs he is very injured. When he cant defend his face agaisnt consecutives blows, he is SUPER injured

Kudos to Jiri, when he is taken out he admits what happened. Not accusing referee for early stoppage.

This is called integrity. There is not a great deal of it in the world, and for this guy to maintain his on that stage is genuinely impressive.

When Jiri is hanging on to Pereira, those elbows made him fall down which I think mark goddard saw and stopped it. Idk maybe have it go 2,3 seconds longer as he did kind of lose control but idk
