Janis used to party with the Hell's Angels. She could be seen singing with a black eye she got from one of them. On Big Brother's bass drum it said "Property of the Hell's Angels".

The cheap thrills album was released in summer of 68. There was some kind of ruckus about pre-sale records. Sweet William. a prospect for the Frisco Chapter of the Hells Angels, popped her in the eye because she didn’t want to give all the samples away to the club members. Since their patch (the small death head with wings)was on the record cover, that meant “property of” the club! I remember so many memories from those days in San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury 1967-70. What a party! The music and seeing all the bands, many of whom lived in the neighborhood, was beyond “groovy “. 💐😎🤩✌️

Mr.Friendly yep, it sure was a trip. Lol. My son told me I was “stuck in the 60’s”. Actually, the sixties are stuck in me🤗. I get to those flashbacks and the only missing is Bruce Springsteen singing Glory Days in the background. 😂💐😎🌺🌸🌞

That's not possible that Janis received a black eye from a HA member because she was really close to the VP of the SF HA chapter Sweet William. All hell would of broke lose at that party. What happened was that Janis refused to give the last swig of a southern comfort bottle before going on stage and told a member of another chapter to Fuck himself as well as his lady which led to the lady throwing a beer bottle at her resulting in a scuffle on the ground. When the HA member was gonna knock her senseless, Sweet Williams kicked him in the head and escorted Janis to the stage. Sweet Williams would of died for Janis. He even assisted in dumping her ashes in the Pacific ocean.

Everyone has demons they have to deal with. This girl just pissed everything away. I don't know...I was around in '70 and wasn't able to get into her, what, music? But it was a terrible ending, agreed.

Well, buddy. By 1970 she had left Big Brother at the "encouragement" (understatement) of music business "heavyweights" who had their own agendas and TBHY, she'd been at her best when she was fronting BBHC. But even then, it's difficult for me to believe you saw her live and "couldn't get into her." The woman was a goddamn force of nature. If you missed it, my sympathies.

It is easy to say that until you experience Elvis Presley level of fame. Everyone talks about how great it is, but the reality of fame is you are a circus amusement freak 24 hours of the day. You start to get the feeling that you are being used at all times. Used by management, by fans, by your "friends." There is a lot of darkness that comes with super stardom. A lot of musicians and artists in general have mental health issues like depression or bipolar disorder. Their work is their escape. Their music doesn't touch us because of their fake pain. It is almost always genuine.
