When I fall down 11, I get up 12 | Day 176 Post op Vestibular Nerve Section

Hello! I'm Kelly and I've had Meniere's disease since 2010. On May 25, 2023, I had a brain surgery for Meniere's disease called a Vestibular Nerve Section and Craniotomy after I exhausted all treatments for Meniere's disease. I kept a private video journal while I recovered from surgery and recently decided to make it public in hopes it would help others go through this surgery recovery. The date this video was recorded is listed below. I'm happy to answer any questions you have or talk more about my experience. Recovering from brain surgery was unlike anything I've every experienced. But I've come so far and I am SO glad I did it. Thanks for going on this journey with me!

I've have violent vertigo attacks that last 3-12 hours. I've tried diuretics. Steroids, SSRIs etc. I was going to send g to have surgery but seeing how long your healing has been is frightening. I work full time. Sometimes, I don't get an attack for a few months. In between attacks I have no imbalance at all. I am dead on the left side.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you were having a violent vertigo attack when you wrote this. Have you been diagnosed with Meniere's? If so, have you tried steroid or gentamicin injections? You didn't mention those and they are usually the step before the Vestibular Nerve Section. Gentamicin is a much less invasive treatment than the brain surgery and does the same thing in a different way. This brain surgery is definitely something to take time to consider and talk about with your doctor. It is a very very long healing time though every one is different, it is longer than I expected. It is not an easy fix at all.

@@IncredibleAnyway yes. I have been diagnosed with Meniere’s for a long time unfortunately. I get violent vertigo and drop attacks. However, sometimes, I can go a whole year of no attacks.

I do with chicken. I didn’t have enough energy to do it with the turkey after making the whole meal. Would be yummy tho!
