The video is called an animatic, but what the artist is doing is animating. To put frames together into a video is to animate, but since it's not a fully smooth animation, it's called an animatic, but the OP is referring to the way the panels flow together, which is animation. The imagery of the stairs turning into a slide is so perfect for this, the floor falls out from under her and it’s scary and it moves so fast but it’s undeniably fun and exhilarating and that’s exactly what it’s like leaving your comfort zone to try dating

i feel like this song and your animatic capture the relationship anxiety perfectly. the way you had the stairs disappear, just hit so close to home for me someone who has some relationship anxiety and because of that has never dated and had trouble making friends. beautiful

i love how there was interpretation in this one. it rlly makes your animatic unique because you didn't just follow what the play did or what the lyrics explicitly said ahhh i love it. also your art style reminds me of steven universe!!

I don't remember letting someone into the deepest parts of my psyche to use my hopes and fears as song lyrics but goddamn someone did and they did a very good job with it

"but what if when he sees me, i like him and he knows it" yeah, that part.

This song is so ridiculously relatable and the fact that there is a song that describes me perfectly and how I feel makes me feel so happy and I'm also glad this was made, the animations is incredible and ahh. Beautiful.

It wasn't until I actually looked up Kimiko's performance that I fully realized just how amazing your animation is. KG's take is (sorry to the other actresses) the premier version of this song and character in general. The soaring airiness of her voice is the perfect amount of whimsy, and her awkward dorkiness had edges in all the right places. The contrast between the two only makes the dork more dorky and the whimsy more whimsical. But here's the thing, I THOUGHT you had been punching UP the comedy with your various beats, but if anything you were subdued by comparison. The physical side to Glenn's performance was practically stringing one awkward comedic beat into the next. It was a genuine challenge to simply relish the beauty of her singing while being distracted by everything going on. By toning down the comedic side, and then indulging in depictions that revolved around representing her turmoil, you cranked the hesitant romantic pureness of this song (which was already impressive) up to 11. In a way, that may actually make this the truer representation of this song; not playing up how awkward and socially inept she was being in reality, but narrowing in on only the desperate hopes within her heart as they struggled against her own self-doubts. The rest of the world? Unimportant. EDIT: Playing this several times in a day leaves me even more to say; - The wry grin, flopping in frustration, banging on the counter all emphasized wonderfully how exasperated she was feeling. - Pulling her out from behind the counter for the start of her soaring number was an excellent move - the words "and I can't hide from it" are tied to taking off her glasses, a method used by people with glasses to "hide" by removing the details of the world around them, but you had her clean her glasses, keeping that aspect properly subtle - "to only get it given back" she puts her glasses back on. Having her feelings, and the harshness of reality literally thrown into her face. - Removing the random guys she randomly harrassed allowed the audience to fully focus on her thoughts and emotions. - Brought someone in for her to shake on "miserable wife" an act of silliness reminiscent to her antics on stage, but now it has been paired up with the portions of her lyrics in which she is actually indulging in irrational silliness. - Pulling her completely out of the world and into her own head for "he could be very kind" is perfect. This is the beautiful crescendo moment and having the diner and customers still there just pulls the audience out of this beautiful moment. - "find someone to talk to" you have the door not closing properly, but she also makes sure that it's not closed herself. You made a beautiful song even more beautiful. Congrats.

I couldn't live with that So, I'm just fine, inside my shell-shaped mind This way I get the best view So, when he sees me, I want him to I'm not defensive I'm simply being cautious I can't risk reckless dating Due to my miscalculating While a certain suitor stands in line I've seen in movies Most made for television You cannot be too careful When it comes to sharing your life I could end up a miserable wife He could be criminal, some sort of psychopath who escaped from an institution, somewhere where they don't have girls He could have masterminded some way to find me He could be colorblind How untrustworthy is that He could be less than kind Or even worse he could be very nice, have lovely eyes And make me laugh, come out of hiding What do I do with that? Oh, God What if when he sees me I like him and he knows it? What if he opens up a door And I can't close it? What happens then? If when he holds me My heart is set in motion I'm not prepared for that I'm scared of breaking open But still I can't help from hoping To find someone to talk to Who likes the way I am Someone who when he sees me Wants to again

I met this girl. I mean, the girl this song is about. One of the millions of girls this song is about. A wonderful, beautiful, loveable girl who could just as easily be anyone else, anywhere else, and at any other time. I was lucky enough to meet her, after she’d been single for 10 years and was on the verge of giving up hope all together of finding love, after one man after another after another after another rejected her. After our second date, I told my brother “I will marry this one”, contradicting everything I had ever told him up to that point. I never thought I would find someone who I loved enough (and more to the point, who loved me enough) to marry. I still think back to the very early days of us dating, in those first few weeks, in dark vulnerable moments cuddling contentedly together in my bed and waiting for sleep to overcome us, she would whisper “please don’t leave me”, and I had no idea how to relate to her in a way that she could believe that I was here to stay. That was three years ago. I love her more than life, and my love for her only grows with every passing day. To anyone facing desperation: don’t give up hope. You matter, you are loved, and you will find happiness.

I relate so strongly to this song. I overcame this crushing feeling of fear of the unknown, but I still got a huge dose of approach anxiety. Though there's no describing for that longing feeling of partnership, finding someone you can connect to.

Kimiko is the only one that sings this song that can give me chills.

Never been big on musicals, and it's my first time even hearing of this... but the combo of the fun songwriting, amazing note-hits and an animatic dripping with equal personality? For all the shit I give the youtube algorithm, it sometimes serves me a big fuckin' dessert sometimes
