When did they play Battletoads?

The actual explanations of the comic covers are possibly even funnier than how bad the art is. That cover with 'two sonics' but one of them has brown human hair on top of his blue hedgehog quills? That's *sonic's dad.* The cover where Sonic is coming out of the TV? Those two kids? *THE ARTIST'S REAL LIFE FAMILY.* He drew a story about Sonic coming into the real world and meeting his own kids. This artist later sued Sega for ownership of his comic characters *and won,* resulting in the entire comic canon being reset and *nearly 200* characters (mostly echidnas that look almost exactly like Knuckles) being wiped from existence. The character Arin thought was Tikal was actually Ken Penders' Original The Character Lara-Su, who he is now publishing his own cursed comic books of whilst continuing to be angry at Sega for existing to this day. The sonic comics are a dark pandora's box

That was the only time Arin didn't reel in while Froggy was nibbling the lure, every other time, Arin reeled in before the 'hit.' I think Arin thought you had to set the hook, but this game seems like it just wants you to wait for Froggy to do his thing.

19:05 I think I know what Hell is. It's a realm in which you're trapped inside a poorly translated Japanese visual novel as the blank slated protagonist. Conversation is a chore because the writing is so generic. None of the characters actually speak, you have to read their subtitles, which is really hard since every other sentence has a either misspelled words and/or grammatical errors. Everything is at a snail's pace, not just because the dialogue is bloated and verbose, but also because the story is convoluted and full of holes. The worst part is you can't even have sex with the characters because contrivances appear out of nowhere to keep romantic and sexual tension at an all time high.

I'm pretty sure most people have had a "I'm not a furry... BUT" moment in their lifetimes and I'm sure it was mostly with Lola Bunny in Space Jam

1:00:30 that "I'm up HERE now!" really got me. Never watched that playthrough, but now I'm considering it... Also, Michigan just sounded like the actors recorded normal VO lines, but somehow it all got slowed in post by like 30%! EDIT: okay, it also could be that they're using an emulator and the framerate is just low... or something? That just CAN'T be how those voices were supposed to sound!

@@rajaniwolf9466 in my dealings with emulators, audio gets wonky along framerate. The game was sluggishly slow, and the audio seemed to get even worse the longer they played, which also happened to me

47:06 After slowing it down and rewatching, it doesn’t go under. They actually just didn’t even animate it moving past the mustache, so it jumps from one side of it to the other and appears like it went under it when played at normal speed 😂🤣👍

Y'know, honestly, props to the cat game's translators. Languages are hard, and the creator obviously didn't hire a trained translator, so what they got was actually really good. Way more legible than Does Bruno Mars is Gay, anyway.

This has probably been answered already, but the "little guy" who Tails is holding at around 10:38 is from the Saturn game 'Astal'. I think I might be like one of three people who ever played that game. Why he's in that comic, I could only guess, but I assume the game released around the same time that comic came out, and they were doing some kind of cross-promotion or something.

Seeing those old sonic comics, and the fact that I remember all the older character models, makes me feel old now. I do prefer the personality of Sonic in the comics compared to now. Like Mickey Mouse, he has a more developed personality in comics rather than the more "blank-slate" that's going on now. It's easy for merchandise, but a lot of effort has to be put in to bring out a compelling character.

It’s amazing to me that after all these years, they can still never get any Sonic game right😂 it’s beautifully flawed every time, and I love how much the Grumps shit on it with still being respectful at the same time lol

@@tntsonic7482 I’m not dogging on the sonic games, to be clear. I used to play them all the time and loved them. I’m saying the grumps have had some rough glitches or in general bad luck with the games lol

Not sure what year this was but I miss that year of Ghoul Grumps. Dan was right, Arin just found the shittiest games on Steam. Tungulus was the best game they’ve ever played. By far.

I was brushing my teeth while watching this and one of the Wand of Gamelon endless bats moments made me laugh so abruptly that I spat toothpaste all over my phone.

Sometimes I wonder if Kitty Love is like.... AMAZING in Japanese. Like it has deep and in depth character interactions, and a naturally flowing plot with heavy story beats, that was just _slaughtered_ by the translation..... but then I remember that the only clear thing to be found through this localization is that the game is about dating cats(???) and I try not to think about it too hard.
