To be fair when the helicopter was active over Sheffield it would just randomly hover over your house half the night. For no reason. Just to take the bloody thing out and justify the money.

the British Police use the "box them in" technique when trying to stop a vehicle. this requires multiple squad cars all trying to get into place to enclose the offender. which rarely works. the US Police use a "pit" maneuver to force the offender to spin out and stop which requires one squad car and works almost every time.

Say what you want about the US, at least they can have a football game without the police having to fear a riot

Having only used one on my firearm, yes they can be used during the daytime. However, keep in mind that it is better used during cooler conditions than hotter ones. Hotter conditions make the use of them more difficult (due to the surrounding area's being hotter) As far as why they didn't use them, it may be standard policy not to (I remember here in Vegas that during the summer our law enforcement are only allowed to use them at night, while during the winter they can use them during day/night)
