When Floyd And Manny Finally Shared The Ring | ON THIS DAY

Спорт

#otd in 2015, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally shared the ring in one of the most anticipated fights in boxing history. #boxing #toprank #highlights
Up next for Top Rank Boxing, Japan’s pound-for-pound hero is set to headline the biggest boxing event his country has ever seen. Undisputed junior featherweight world champion Naoya “The Monster” Inoue will defend all the belts against Mexican puncher Luis “Pantera” Nery on Monday, May 6 at the Tokyo Dome.
Inoue, a four-weight world champion and two-weight undisputed king, will headline at the iconic venue for the first time.
Inoue-Nery and three additional world title showdowns will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ at 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT. Australia’s WBO bantamweight world champion, Jason “Mayhem” Moloney will defend his belt against rising knockout artist and former kickboxing world champion Yoshiki Takei.
The world title quadruple-header also features WBA bantamweight world champion Takuma Inoue (19-1, 5 KOs), younger brother of Naoya, who defends his title against former world title challenger Sho Ishida (34-3, 17 KOs). And, in a flyweight world title tilt, newly minted WBA world champion Seigo Yuri Akui (19-2-1, 11 KOs) battles Taku Kuwahara (13-1, 8 KOs) in a rematch of their 2021 Japanese title bout, which Akui won by 10th-round TKO.

He clinched every time Manny got too close. Also with a reach advantage was able to use his jab effectively. Typical Floyd fight. He never went for the kill against a smaller man. Played it too safe. But then again SRL was the same against Hagler.

Floyd boxes like a Master Chess Player. Many of you guys know nothing about Boxing and many of you would never get in the ring. You're entitled to your own opinions but not to your own facts. Take it from a guy who used to box , wrestle in the American Style Boxing game your job is to hit and not get hit. That rock'em sock'em Robot is a toy game, that's not how you do in the ring and that's not how you'd do it in the streets. But try it and see how it works out for you.

Unlike his dad and uncle who have brain-damage mate right? I wonder why Floyd doesn't have massive brain-damage like all your favorite fighters. Think how stupid your remarks are my friend. People that talk like you have never been in the ring. Have no idea how many young fighters killed in our sport. Mate grow up. Stop ✋ talking like a dope. They all warriors and they all have their own styles. Like who you like and let others do the same. But it's just kind of ironic hearing someone else who never had the courage to be a prize fighter disparaging one who thinks saving his brain is a bad idea. You people that call for wars in our sport, You really don't care anything for the fighters. And it's the fighters that make the sport. And you still don't get it. The thing you love Is the thing that destroys many of these fighters lives after the sport. So stop talking like this to our fighters. And go watch Ryan Garcia 😂

I think the key reason why most fighters who faced Floyd Mayweather were unsuccessful was because they made the mistake of taking a brawler's approach and trying to engage him in a toe-to-toe battle. This is precisely why he was able to pick them apart so effortlessly. However, no one ever attempted to challenge him by matching his game with excellent footwork, working the angles, and using straight orthodox boxing.

Floyd is money. Boxing is his business. He fights only at home (Las Vegas). He calls all the shots when home. He has all the money, who in their right mind will go against their boss when you are getting paid, as the saying goes "don't bite the hand that feeds you". Anyways my point is Floyd is a business man he's talented and had good skills but everyone was on his side from the announcers to the ref and judges. However, when you compare the two fighters here it's clear, one is greater than the other. You have a lion vs a wolf and the lion wins (Pacquiao = Lion).

The fight that should've happened much earlier, around 2010, when both of them were in their primes. After that KO from Marquez, Pacman was not the same. Sure, he was still good, but it was not the same hungry and aggressive Manny that we used to see before 2012. Such an unnecessary fight for boxing. I mean, good for the guys in the ring, they made a lot of money, but unnecessary, and very late for the sport of boxing.

I have watched this fight 6 times. I had Manny winning easy 8-3-1. Manny chased Floyd every round, landed more punches, and Floyd didn't do enough. Floyd did the usual run and hold, but Manny did the chase and landed punches. Easy fight for Manny. If Mayweather Productions hadn't been the main sponsor of the fight, Manny would have had a fair and right decision.

i'm by no means a boxing expert and im hardly a "huge fan", but it's hilarious to me how self-proclaimed boxing fans dismiss mayweather's style as "running" or "hugging". it feels like the most shallow analysis possible - especially from people who claim to be lovers of the sport.

well he did run in the championship rounds though, especially the 12th. he didn't wanna give those rounds away by letting pac land anything. I had this fight maybe 7 5 for floyd. but there were alot of swing rounds for me. whenever pac managed to land that left it got big marks from me, perhaps because of how dramatically floyd reacted to it every time.

@@Mektek19 broner and Thurman aren’t close to Floyd lol, levels to it. Manny in his prime though was so snappy and much faster.. this wasn’t the same guy that KOd hatton and de La Hoya. Broner just was scared the whole fight didn’t throw any punches lol. A shell of manny is still better than a lot of boxers.
