Actually she got the mania because she was taken off adhd meds that were KNOWN to cause mania. It was known medication, and it was because the doctors took her off it that she had the manic episode

​​@@alijahadams83only speaking from personal experience so what happened with me may be very different, but I have bipolar disorder that was originally misdiagnosed as ADHD, and the ADHD meds triggered mania. My psychiatrist explained that the ADHD meds, antidepressants, when given to someone with bipolar it can help with the depression but not help with mania, leading to more severe episodes. It's why mood stabilizers and antipsychotics are used for bipolar disorder rather than antidepressants- you can't treat bipolar patients for just depression and expect the mania to subside. essentially, you didn't experience mania because you have ADHD, while bipolar patients will experience mania upon going on ADHD meds

I'm throwing my vote in with the first girl. Manic episodes are not a joke. I've seen bipolar friends strip naked, pull out fingernails and hair, delude themselves into believing the person they love most is trying to kill them, have sex with strangers, plan and go on road trips without the money or supplies, and destroy entire friendships because their mania genuinely has them believing there is no reason not to. Everything that enters your brain has like a 75% chance of seeming like a good idea. Seeing that she was selfharming, violence wouldn't be an odd impulse to have while manic.

Episodes are literally life threatening. It's hell. It's just hell. I almost killed myself many times, and my now-fiancé multiple times. I also have Autism, so it makes everything worse. Violence is common, I hate the misconception it's not. It's just not a main symptom, but irritability is and unchecked will turn to rage. Going on/off meds will cause swings, it's so common that it's practically to be expected. She random said "I just needed to pull his pants up" as they stated to handcuff her at the beginning, or something strange like that. Immediately was a red flag. Definitely in some sort of psychotic break. I personally had my first as young as 9, and didn't stop having severe/frequent ones until a decade later. I was misdiagnosed for having BPD. Now that I'm older (26) I'm medicated on a mood stabilizer, got engaged, have flare ups but never truly psychotic episodes, and write for a blog while on disability. But I had a good support network from day one. I probably would have ended up like this girl if I wasn't helped properly. I feel for her and truly believe she didn't mean to. That's now how a murderer acts.

​@@JC-kx3itYeah, My Mom was on Ambien before and would have extremely vivid waking-dream states of mind. Where later when more fully awake would barely remember some or any of it. We didn't know what was causing it at the time, and I basically had to sleep upstairs in the living room with her to ensure she was safe. Since I was good at calming or getting her to listen to me and help Drift her back into a more sleep like state. Scary, terrifying stuff.

I know it's serious but the way the camera pans up after the 19 year old asks "is my car fucked??" only to show and entire stoplight crashed onto the chassis is comedy gold. "I mean, it's got some good damage man.." lmao

The first case was being investigated as medication related. The meds she'd been treating with caused psychosis. Basically, once she's stabilized, it will sink in and that's truly awful for everyone. I can't imagine the pain and guilt. I do hope the family sues the doctor that prescribed that med to a 12 year old child without monitoring her mental status.

Not only is it harmful to her and her psyche, but it can lead to outcomes like this where the poor family is left to deal with the consequences of a child with neglected mental health and a child who sadly had to suffer at the hands of psychosis.

The issue isn't even the medication itself, it's how the doctor and mom were handling it. Repeatedly stopping and starting ANY psych med is going to fuck you up in some way and she should have never been put through that. There are multiple nonstimulant adhd meds that she could have gotten put on if she was having issues with the current med. And on top of that, any negative side effects need to be taken Very Seriously. And this is all coming from a person who's been on many psych meds including ADHD ones. That story is tragic and whatever doctor allowed this is directly responsible.

The first case shows mental health is never a joke and can make good people do the most terrible things, I hope everyone including the girl got the help they need. Honestly one of the saddest cases out there due to mental health not being treated correctly. I feel like with her case it would fall under the mental disorder defense and she'd be excused somewhat but not completely. It's safe to say even if she was going to prison she would get some sort of psychiatric help.

I may be an asshole here, but my concern is what she kept repeating. She seemed more concerned with ruining her life than with the state of her brother. She did ask if he was in the hospital, but not in a way that she was concerned that he was OK. A psychotic episode would explain the crime, but being more concerned about herself than her brother isn't something that goes with psychotic episodes and is more self-centered.

The first girl I genuinely feel for. Going on/off meds will cause significant bodily harm if she's already mentally ill (evidence by her cuts and word salad), and a psychotic break can also just happen to a person responding poorly to a medicine. Everyone is different. Some people are Gray Swans. Yes, that level of violence IS POSSIBLE. That's how dangerous certain meds can be to certain people's chemistry. Deadly. First case was NOT evil. That was a girl with severe mental illness who needed help and had a manic episode caused by her meds. She's clearly confused, scared, and she said she's "been like this inside" for a while. I feel bad for everyone involved in that situation, including her. I can only imagine what it'd be like to feel like you've been possessed and do something so terrible when out of your mind like that. Horrible.

@@swaghettiyolognese8177if youre struggling with severe mental illnesses and avoid taking your medicine, it can most likely lead to maniac episodes where you do things without even thinking since youre off medication. the medication is given to help your brain function normally, so going off of it will give your brain many different signals. theres many cases like this happening, especially in schizophrenia cases

One of the side effects was psychosis, which, while extremely rare, was a side effect she experienced that caused her to do that. Medication affects people differently. What may work fine for one individual may cause something extreme like this to another. They probably put her on that med because the chances of her experiencing such a side effect to that degree were extremely low, but as the result shows, not zero.

The poor officer sitting in the car with the 12 yr old girl, looked like he was ready to cry when she was asking about her brother and whether or not he would live. My heart goes out to everyone involved in this incident. My condolences to the young boys parents. 😢

She stopped taking her medication because of the mom; the medicine was too expensive so the mom just didn’t buy it. Not saying the mom is completely at fault, but it is kinda because of her. I was diagnosed with something called homicidal depressive disorder and homicidal ocd thoughts. I got help for them and fully recovered from those mindsets, but living like that was awful, guilt slowly faded away. I was only 12 when I got help for it. Same age as the girl. This is why we need more mental health institutions and programs, non corrupt ones. I'm lucky I had access to those programs and a loving family who helped me through. Remember, depression doesn't make you sad, it can make you violent.

As someone who has seen family members have suicidal episodes because of medication, I know that the first case was not a case of genuine evil. Medication massively alters brain chemistry to relieve pain, ease depressive symptoms and much more, it's factual that similar, typically low-quality medicine could also induce a state of psychosis into any given person whether it be depression, psychotic episodes, or sociopathy. KZread has the ability to edit a video and cut an entire segment out, and I'd recommend cutting the first one. Who knows, you might be able to use it to make a video about the dangers of bad medication or "times people seemingly couldn't control themselves" with the focus ofcourse being that something had taken control from them and speaking on the cautionary side of taking anything someone gives you.

I can't understand how some "people" just beg to be arrested... always the same crowd.

Honestly the first case is terrifying, I’m someone who is bipolar and has gone through a similar past, nowhere close to murder but I used to be a very aggressive individual, and I was lucky that I had a person who recognized I was sick and needed help. I hope this little girl gets help, sincere help but none the less she still has to see consequences for her actions. My heart goes to the mother because you can tell her whole world just came crashing in a instant.

Usually the first indication that your kid has problems IS NOT that they violently murder their sibling. There are usually a few red flags before things reach that point. One of my sisters assaulted my parent, but she didn't kill them and they got her help and now she is a amazing person with her own children that are doing great. I feel sorry for the mother as well, but I hardly think she was a saint or anything, yanno?

Story is deeper than expected. Her mom gave her ambien and it is well known to cause halucinations and other weird behaviours. Sure the mom lost both kids that day, but why give a 12 year old medication dedicated to adults that has warnings about side effects, dependency and and age restrictions printed all over the bottle? I know that the mom did not intend anything bad, but labels are there for a reason

That happened in California in 1984 in a really interesting case. Jim Gordon is widely regarded as if not the best, then at least one of the best and most successfull studio drummers of all time, who played drums on so many of the biggest hits the world has ever known, and for 15 years made many millions while doing studio sessions for the truly big artists of the 20th century. Nobody sounded better, and everyone knew it. His days were normally doing a couple of high profile sessions in London, and then immediately being flown by private jet to LA the same day for a whole studio and crew waiting on him to arrive to do a session that night, and then the same thing the next day. The guy was a super star and had literally everything. Then the voices appeared, which started out just giving him helpful tips on how to deal with day to day stuff, then started manipulating him and isolating him from others, taking on the voice of his mother. He was still living the jet set high life of a wildly successful man, but in breaks during recording would just stand in the corner muttering to himself and being afraid of the others in the room. Everyone deeply respected him and revered him, and left him alone. Eventually he was in and out of institutions, and going on heavy medication. In 1984, the voices (mainly his mother by this point) convinced him to go off the medication, and he finally lost it completely and went over to his mother and killed her with a hammer and a knife to end the voices. He stopped reacting to his name, succumbed to his illness completely, and everything he had once been was gone. However, thanks to some fucking bullshit regarding the presidential assasination attempt in the early 80's, California had just recently stopped using the insanity plea, and he was therefore sentenced as a normal person to life in prison, where he didn't get the help he needed and he became even more ill. He spent the rest of his life - over 40 years - locked up in prison, and died of natural causes some years ago. Imagine if he had gotten the help he needed when he needed it. Mental health problems like this can happen to anyone, and no, you CANNOT control it, or yourself. It takes control, forcibly, and whatever you do in such a state, you're not the one doing it. Unfortunately for Jim, he did it in California, and therefore wasn't sent for treatment, but rather punishment. Mental health problems is scary...

As a man with multiple sisters who are mentally unbalanced, and having many friends who grew up in bad places, I don't think labeling the 1st one as evil is right. Not after the cutting herself part. Something seems off when the mother said there wasn't any aggressive behavior from the perp. It just seems off. Also, at 12 yrs old you don't even understand death to its full extent. People think they do but the finality hasn't actually settled in for most.

To be fair I feel bad for that kid. There are many areas of the United States in which teenagers hunt before school and regularly have their rifles in their cars if for no other reason than not having time to stop home between a morning hunt and class. In that document is a paragraph that states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." See the problem is it's not unusual for people to have guns in their cars in the US. I graduated in 08 and it was nothing to see a rifle rack in the back of a truck with a rifle on it in the school parking lot. It was generally understood the parking lot is a neutral site. Yes it is technically school property but the way our laws are written as long as it's in the vehicle it does not count. Now that is just for the state I went to school in but it would not have been unusual to see a gun on school property. Granted we also had a shooting club. Also as to your argument about weapons on planes you'd be surprised it is legal to check a gun on a plane. Theirs just paperwork you have to fill out and TSA wants to know.

Not assault rifles but shotguns and hunting rifles. I remember seeing it everyday walking out of school. Nobody ever said anything.

The gun is still technically in a safety zone as it is in a car park of a school, so I think the arrest is fair.

An emotional roller-coaster of a video. Went from crying at the first one which was so tragic to laughing my head off at the stoned driver.

The first case is genuinely so tragic I sobbed when the cop was sitting in the car with the girl trying to reassure her. I hope this girl gets all the support she needs as well as her mother.

Just for clarification, the first clip with the 12 year old stabbing her brother is fully true but not fully told. On January 5th 2023, the daughter was on an ADHD medication that has been known to cause random acts of violence. It also happened to a man who stabbed somebody but was under the influence of the (legal) drug for no apparent reason (he did not face legal charges). There's a KZread video talking more about it but I can't remember its name. Also, the daughter isn't facing any charges since the murder was most likely due to the medication she was on. Her mother said "From what we found it looks like it was a medication issue, not anything else. Like a manic episode of some kind." Needless to say, this was an extremely horrific scene. I can't imagine the pain the mom and daughter are going through. For more information you can look up "Murder of 9 year old Zander Lyda"

The daughter could still face criminal charges (according to her mother). And to make things more confusing, the daughter told her friends, two weeks prior to the stabbing, how she had wanted to stab her brother. Just to be clear, I'm not making any claims. Only repeating what the mother said.

Jacob made me laugh. I saw that video elsewhere a while ago and laughed back then at its absurdity. The way the traffic light was dangling off the car was hilarious. Luckily though no one got killed. That would have been terrible and not funny at all.

That poor girl,boy and family. holy shit that was the most heartbreaking thing ever. People really need to take mental health and the medications involved a lot more seriously. Hearing she wasn’t ever aggressive and her own cuts plus the on and off meds story I read, it’s so messed up and sad that the poor brother died. I’m just heartbroken here

I'm so glad you're showing the bull$hit cops have to deal with. I CANNOT imagine doing this EVERYDAY on the job. I just can't. Unbelievable.

I accidentally brought a toy gun to school when I was in second grade. I remember sitting in class going through my backpack and was like, OH MY GOD! I forgot to take this out of my backpack before going to school. All throughout that day I was scared shit that the teacher would find out about it. Huge relief when I got back home without anyone noticing. 😂

Honestly the last guy did everything right, he was kind, respectful, and didn't try to run away, he co-operated with law enforcement so he's pretty mature, kudos to him for that but uh dont bring weapons to school.

yeah, he seemed like he genuinely didn't know that he couldn't have a weapon in a school zone. He also wasn't overly distraught, tried to claim his case, and was just disappointed at the fact that he did something stupid thinking it was allowed.

​@@ratk_ To be fair at one point the principal did say he had a specific teacher for special ed that would have to contact him over it, so remedial or not him not ticking that a hunting rifle shouldn't be brought to school grounds is entirely believable. Especially considering his attitude about it, genuine confusion over how everyone reacted and a total firm belief that his plans to not use it at all were enough to make it okay.
