Overall I’d say it’s a very well done video. My only critique is the kind of false notion that there will be an end to your artistic journey because, truly, you’re always learning and fine tuning your craft. Other than that nitpick, great job man

I agree but only half way, of course you will always continue improving, but there is a point where you have it figured out way more than before. it's like learning Japanese, you will always be learning it and improving on it but there will be a moment where you can say you understand Japanese even if your not perfect

@@weebster-vo1zy I don’t disagree. I can say I can understand art after a certain time but I will never truly master art. It’s like how people who are born speaking English still struggle to speak it correctly. The fundamentals can be there but plenty can also not be understood or correctly used

Hey im an animator and have worked for anime like jjk and black clover. ive only started getting serious at drawing in 2020 and got my first job in 2022, when i was 16. To anyone out there that's thinking of taking this seriously and really determined to get better and make it a job, remember that fundamentals, these short term goals are not just things u tackle once and then move on, you have to constantly come back to it and further refine it. Even now, I still practice perspective and drawing boxes in space just to improve my character drawings. Try to find the fun in the little things in drawing like the little things in life Never underestimate fundamentals, but always remember to have fun in the process, or you'll never last. Don't give up, and take care!

The one thing about not being distracted, you NEED to consume art. Everything has an input and output. You just need to be cautious with your level and balance of each. Also, I assure you this video being in the background will NOT distract me. It really called to me, struck me right in my artist soul! I've been having anatomy improvement and relearning my skills from the fundamentals on my mind, but this really stirs up all the things I've been THINKING about doing in the last months into the motivation to actually do it.

I'd say the part about having something playing the background highly depends on what you are doing and what step of your process you are. For example, when I'm in a part of the process in which I need to think, like figuring composition, panneling, poses and such, I can't have anything playing, it really disrupts my thought process, but if I'm in the inking phase, for example, that doesn't really require thinking, I had already layed all the "thinking" down by that point, so I'm capable and it's even more entertaining to have something playing in the background. Curiously something I do play in the background sometimes is Trash Taste. I totally agree with ehat you said at the end though. Don't leave stuff for after work/school otherwise you'll probably be too tired to do it.

You don’t need to write your stories, it’s like telling a gamedev he needs to learn to write and play his own music. Some, if not most, important comics were co-created by at least two people, sometimes more (DC, Marvel, CLAMP, of the top of my head)

@@NoiseDay I’ll argue back on that and say if you’re like me then you are taking the work too seriously but not yourself. You’re putting too much importance on the art and getting it right that you’ve made it too big of a dragon to slay and it’s paralyzing you because you don’t seriously believe you can do it and are scared of failure. It needs to be smaller steps that your body and mind knows you can actually seriously do. Right now you made this serious version of yourself who gets it all done without failure and you’re paralyzed to move because you might realize you aren’t that person yet. If I’m wrong let me know
