A few years ago I had an IKEA right on the route I drove to work, so whenever I felt overtaxed after work I'd stop by for a cheap cinnamon roll and free coffee until I felt like a person again. It's a good thing my life isn't half as stressful anymore, because now that I've moved to another city the nearest IKEA is much too far away for any kind of leisure visits. The next time I move I'll have to take closeness to the IKEA into consideration.

Dude ikea openly directly used slave labor to make there products for over thirty years Like they probably still do But for decades it was just; there actual not hidden business practice They didn’t advertised it but it wasn’t hidden. They literally did it from the 60s till after the fall of the Soviet Union because into the 2000’s jt turned out they weee still importing and using North Korean slave labor And as for where all there products come from? Well crazily enough once they stopped using slaves it also became basixlLt impossible to track there supply lines because they got crazy complicated and long

When I was little my big adventures were the grocery store (I sorted things people had left in the wrong shelf 🟥🟩🟦🟨) and the doorbell department of the hardware store 😍🔔🛎️ Edit: should have get paid for sorting their stuff 🙊 and weirdly I seem to look so "native" in my favourite stores that people mix me up with employees and ask me where this or that is 😂 (my mother used to work as a salesclerk most of the time)
My father is obsessed with this place. Works across from it. Nearly every week he comes home with something new, so now our house is absolutely cluttered. Some things never change.
"That's how they make money." Yeah. Surprisingly that IS how they make money. By decreasing transportation and labour costs, and by having a massive warehouse in a cheap location, their expenses are far lower than almost all other furniture stores. That is why the quality of the furniture is so good for such a reasonable price.

First time I went to IKEA in the Philippines. It was so big .my feet was aching by time we went home .

They are using all of their brain cells to make you feel as comfortable as possible so that you feel like you could see these products in your own home and to reduce the amount of time you have to interact with people who don't actually live in your home to keep the illusion up. My ex told me he didn’t care how i redecorated. Literally didn't matter to him. i dragged him to ikea because i had a suspicion he would hate my choices and we would live in an argument instead of a living room. Sure enough, he hated the couch, table, chair, lamp, etc i had picked out. Good news was i saved $500. But he did build anything i brought home. Exercise equipment, desks, a wine rack.

IKEA issued a recall for my dresser 20 years after we bought it. It was already a bit broken because I had been over stuffing it. We returned it for a full refund and bought a new dresser that was the same size for less money. Love IKEA

@@SLeung-wr4hv Googled it, didn't see anything about 20 years, but it looks like 14 years. The recall was in 2016 on Malm chests and dressers because of child deaths from unsecured units tipping over. From the IKEA website: "Consumers are entitled to a full refund for chests and dressers manufactured between January 2002 and June 2016. Consumers with chests and dressers manufactured prior to January 2002 will be eligible for a partial store credit."

@@SLeung-wr4hv they legally have to issue a recall if they find out that something they've produced is unsafe, especially if it's still in production. If it was an item that they were still producing and they recalled it, they have to accept them no matter when they were sold.

Free coffee refill is expected in Sweden so long as you’re drinking regular coffee. We even have a specific word for it “påtår”.

Taking it from a giant storage shelf and adsembling it yourself is just plain efficient😂 also it is the masterchallenge for you and your partner in your first apartment. If your relationship can withstand the assembly of a full ikea furniture then your relationship can handle everything

@@dansattah i’ll never understand the requirement of the concept of two letters put together making a different sound.. in Estonian everything is spelled as it is pronounced and vice versa except for foreign names and places :-D

@@ee326k This oddity is based on familiarity. Even though German could replace its diphthongs like "ie" > "ii", "eu" > "oi", and "äu" > "oi", its native speakers would never accept it. Just the idea to replace the generic masculine with a different form of address has become a political battlefield.

recently my friend bought a couple of pieces and needed them assembled. called me to ask if I wanted to have fun. I have an absolute blast assembling legos and she just watched :D
There are all those jokes that goong to IKEA as a couple is a test of a relationship. Many end up lost and arguing. You guys have fun. Congratulations. 💯

In Vienna every single student has their Appartments full with only IKEA furniture. So all of us were desperate to finish college so we can finally be able to afford Designer furniture that not everyone you're visiting has in their Appartment as well 😅

Couple of years ago we had a big snowstorm in Denmark (big for us anyways) and some people ended up being snowed in at an IKEA. Tbh, if you have to be stuck somewhere, it's kinda the perfect place for it 😂

You just need to go to the 'main road' and they have these --> stickers on the floor that tell u where to head next. At least that's what happen at ikea here. Otherwise I would be lost inside forever too 😂

my german father in law literally lives for putting furniture together and home improvement projects
it opened in my city in 2020 but it was only recently i went there to actually see that massive building and im in love.

i made the mistake of going to an ikea on a saturday a few weeks ago and the shop was overcrowded with people like an anglerfish with teeth. it felt like an amusement park where you bring the whole family along and just happen to buy furniture on the side. children were running around everywhere, not only on the indoor playground, the restaurant was packed to the brim with people and they also bought the last egg slicer before i could fight my way to it. i feel lucky i made it out alive.
