@Alexander Nottingham While I agree the dispatcher didn't seem to handle it very well, it's really important for 911 dispatchers to ask for your address first. it's basic procedure in case the call cuts they need to know the address of your emergency so they can get someone to you as fast as possible
As a former first responder that male dispatcher didn't handle that call well. He needed to be FIRED!! With him as the dispatcher that poor woman didn't stand a chance!!

The worse I've ever heard was the poor person hiding during a robbery in a gas station, and the robber was shooting people. The dispatcher kept trying to get the person to talk despite being told multiple times what's going on and not wanting to be heard. Well, the person was heard and the shot. I swear, there needs to be a mixture of sensitivity training and common sense training for these dispatchers. I actually tried the job once, so I do have some insight and can appreciate how hard of a job it is. I also do understand where they're coming from when they're calm and constantly asking for an address. The reason that most dispatchers seem cold is because of how much details they're asking for in quick succession, but above all else, demanding an address right off the bat. This is extremely important as a trace is not always 100% accurate, and it's sometimes much faster to get that from the caller. Also, asking details lets dispatch relay what kind of a situation the police will be getting into, let the emergency staff know if fire or medical is needed, etc. But above all else, that address is extremely important. But again, common sense to know what kinds of questions are not needed or when having a caller constantly talk is not okay, as well finding a balance in tone is something more departments should be teaching their dispatch

Dispatcher should be fired asap. Disgusting way to handle this call. I get you need to make sure you’re direct for the best information, that doesn’t mean admonish someone in the most traumatic moment of her life.
The cop that came to the scene and seen 1st hand what happened is a true hero. He seen what that child went through and by his own father and knew that he could potentially have a lot of bad issues to deal with but him and his wife said so what we want this child and we want to show him what true love, respect, and compassion look like so they adopted him. They are really true heroes in this story and the world needs more people like them in it.
