I genuinely believe having a kitten come to you as a complete stranger and ask for pets/home is one of the best feelings in the world.

My dad had a beautiful Turkish angora cat. All white with 2 defrend eye color. And she always finds a way to get food from the kitchen. And my dad took her to a family members home. And she runs away and came back home. Cat keep a cat down. So he just gave up. And let her stay with us. Because don't matter how far?? she always comes home.

One of the most beautiful moments of my life was when a FERAL KITTEN PICKED ME OUT OF a CROWD to come home with me. The crowd didn't bother him. He was born with Catitude and strutted and strolled around like he's God. When he was on the complete opposite side of the group of neighbors gathered to see the cute black kitten and he saw he had a straight shot to me, he turned and strolled up to me, sat down about 6" from my toes, and looked up at me, head half-cocked to the side as if to say, "Well? What are you waiting for? *I* have arrived, Hooman!" I picked him up and looked at his adorable face and he was calm, so I took him inside. He passed away in March, but lived 18 1/2 years and he never had to work a day in his LIFE. He knew who the soft touch was. I miss my Clyde.

I had two brother cats. One was stolen after he got out. We were all heartbroken. Eventually, I and my daughter 'cruised' into a shelter 'to look'. I looked carefully at every kitty waiting for that connection. Then I saw this teeny black floofy ball of fur. Black as night. I opened the cage, picked him up and he was so starved it felt like I was holding a feather. He was 5 months old-ish. He was also running a high fever. And yet? He gathered every ounce of his strength to purr so hard and melted into my shoulder. My heart was his. He came straight home. It has been 1 year. He was a feral baby it turned out and scared to bits. It took all this time to really trust and let the love in he wanted so bad, but oooooooh he finally turned recently. He is a total teddy bear and that purr is all the time now. I love it. He and his brother Tootsie are happy and healthy and loved.

When we got to the pet area, a little (maybe 10 months old) all white cat reached through the bars to me (then about 55 yo) and started purring like a motor boat; needless to say, Snowball picked me to be part of her forever family. She is now over 13 YO and follows us around like a puppy. Son is away at college. BTW: if Snowball's awake, she's probably purring.

And as soon as someone comes??she starts to meowing, and jumping to her favorite food. And people really buy it for her.they also said she is acting like something is wrong with her feet limping around. And 1 cat was laying on the sidewalk with a sign saying I'm hungry please don't pass me by.and people putting money in front of her. It's hilarious 😂 😃. The generosity of my people 🤣. Has no boundaries. Turks always love the street cats, dog's. When we see 1 injured, sick they just pick them. up and take them to the veterinarian office. The government makes money avaliable to feed, make shelter for them. We always take care of them.

I've had cats most of my life (I'm 57), mostly two at a time, but I had a strong desire to travel and do some kind of ministry. When my last two cats died, I didn't get anymore (plus it hurts too much to lose them) and I prayed about it not knowing what to do one way or the other. Last Christmas, when it was very cold and lots of snow (I live in the UP of Michigan), I started to see some animal rush off when I went outside. I finally realized it was a cat and it was living in a big rundown garage next door. I still didn't get a good look at it. I decided to try to catch it and take it to an animal shelter. Oh I should mention, my two favorite cats ever were Blue Russian-looking cats, gray with yellow eyes. I love their personality and temperament and, if I ever did get another cat, I would want it to be that. I put food out for it, thinking it would be too wild to catch even though animals seem to love me and, when it stepped into the light, I almost gasped. It looked just like my two favorite cats. I was able to bring it in my house and it's been almost a year. She is so loving. She has a kitty door in a window and comes and goes as she pleases. Apparently God's way (and gift) of telling me, traveling isn't what He wants me to do for now. I don't understand how heartless people can abandon and mistreat animals. Take it to a shelter if you don't want it!

After holding about 6 different cats and kittens, one immediately started loving all over her face and purring. She was so happy. She was practically beaming with joy because this 6 MO. old kitten had chosen her. Needless to say, they are inseparable, and the kitten does help calm her down. 🐱Oh how great. I love cats. im a veterinary volunteer. an i give you a tip? cut back on dry cat food. it can cause urinary blockage, and kidney problems over time. Upgrade your cat food to Purina One, for greater longevity. its one of the healthiest brand, and it cost a bit more. Keep your cat Indoors. (If you and your daughter ever have a senior cat, take it in for a full senior blood panel. this will red flag any potential health problems early). 🐾

Animal keeper here as in - working in a shelter taking care of all the pets and learning about proper nutrition and care of said pets, fully agree with the vet volunteer above. Cat's never need dry food, it doesn't help with the teeth like it's advertised unless the kibble is in RLY big portions so the cats have to chew on it. If you want something for the teeth, get the cat once a week a raw chicken leg of 200g instead of the normal cat food. That way you'll help the cat with their teeth because they have to really chew and break bones and it's great all around since it's the closest to a natural diet without full on going into barfing :) No need for supplements or anything since you just replace one day of the week's usual meals. Makes for healthier and happier cats, satisfying their instincts. Also as kitty gets older, start mixing a bit of water into the wet food if you believe she's not drinking enough. Cats naturally drink very little to nothing since they get most of their hydration from their 'prey' but especially as they age and eat less - or if you offer dry food (for whatever reason, no judgement), always make sure to add a little water to the wet food and offer more liquid snacks to help with hydration. Also I can't agree with the vet volunteer on this one - don't look at the brand, purina one is an okay cat food brand, not bad at all and better than some others yes, but look at what's in the food. Very important is no sugar, no grain and at least 70% animal product (Meat, Organs, broth....) the more the better! Cats are obligate Carnivores, they only need a little bit of plant based in their diet for digestion, which cat grass is normally for if you can offer that constantly. Otherwise, good cat foods usually have a tiny percent of smth plant-y, like 2% oil and the rest meat and animal byproducts. Good cat food doesn't cost that much either if you find the right brands. Don't judge a brand before looking at what's inside the food - tips on what to look out for: Like I said mostly meats, AT LEAST 70%, don't go below that if you can - Also be aware of brands trying to trick you by just saying ''60% cow and byproducts'', that's bad brands and can mean anything, hooves, ears, whatever, only buy food that lists it like this: 40% Chicken: Liver and Heart, 20% Cow: Stomach, 4% chicken broth... if they're trying to hide from you where they got the 50% whatever from, then it's just as good as a can of whiskas (trash) - If you're so inclined, also look into food brands that don't do animal experimentation - yes pet food brands experiment on animals a lot of the times, NEVER buy something with sugar or grain and that's all! Hope you, your daughter and your lovely kitten get a long happy live together! Do keep the cat inside if possible, for their safety and the safety of local wildlife, cat's are a real problem to local wildlife! Just look at australia ;) Also think about getting a second cat, you can't give your cat company every hour of the day and especially when they're young they need someone to play with and socialize with. Think of it like this: If you lived together with a family of foreign people, they're all very nice and you feel comfortable and homey but it's just a tad bit lonely because you can't fully understand them and they can't fully understand you, you'd want someone who speaks your language and has the same culture/habits that you do once in a while ;) Unlike what's assumed, cats are quite social creatures and most prefer the company of other cats over being alone.

Update to my last comment. A beautiful black and white female, the daughter of one of my strays, has adopted me. She sits on my lap, snuggles into me, and sleeps on top of me at night. I feel bad about not giving her enough attention as just over 2 weeks ago, a 6-week old kitten whose mother had just died was handed to me. 3 days later, her sister, who had been crying non-stop in a barn, was caught and reunited with her sister. They are now the happiest kittens on the planet, playing all the time and won't leave me. I cry when I think how their lives could have turned out but they will never be hungry or alone ever again. People often say that cats are independent and cold, but when you love them, they have so much love to give back.

They feel our energies and the emotions we put off, so when they can tell you are a cool human, they will follow you, especially if hungry. The people who don't like cats usually instinctively shoo them away or try to scare them, so if you remain calm and move slowly they usually will engage with you. I've been lucky enough to be adopted by many strays. Currently I have my first adopted stray that decided to follow me home, she's 3 now. She decided to follow me on a cold winters day after seeing that I was friendly and attempted to feed her a few times. She watched me for two days, living in the garage and when she realized I was nice she decided to come get warm inside the house with me. She is the sweetest, most loving, if not sometimes clingy cat and such a blessing in my life. She was only a few months old at the time. Now I care for a whole colony of them that lives in our neighborhood, as well as finding homes for the ones that aren't completely feral once they're able. It has been so rewarding and the bonds are so special!

With my family that we adopted 3 stray cats. The 2nd cat was my favorite one. I gave the cat the loved and attention when he was a stray. I was so lucky that he turned out to be a big sweetie. He did always cuddled with me for the longest time. I even gave him belly rubs on my belly and even kisses on top of his head. He was sweet and friendly towards my sister and parents. He had a special bond with me just a little bit over 12 years. I had one grandmother that loved him and the other didn’t liked him. One grandmother did liked cats and thought he was strange cat. The other grandmother hated cats but, she did liked him for a short time when the cat climbed on her lap to flossed his gums on the magazine that she was looking at. When he was a stray that I named him Roughneck. My mother shortened it towards Ruffy when he was a big sweetie. Ruffy was stuck on being his name. This one restaurant that my family used to go to on their special for dinner was Orange Roughy. I kind of made a joke that the restaurant is serving my cat as the special. Even my father did it,too. It was a fish meal. Ruffy was a dark red tabby cat with a little bit of white on him.

I started feeding a few stray cats around our apartment block. One is a big old ugly cat with scars and no teeth. He had skin issues and was pulling his fur out. I have to say I was a bit frightened of him, and one friend wouldn’t even walk past him! But as I fed him and applied flea and worm treatment I have fallen in love with him. He’s really a big softie and very gentle. I can even stroke him and touch his food as he is eating. I’m sure he has spread the word about me being a sucker because I now have at least 5 that come to my front door every day for a feed, and another 5 or 6 that come to the back door. Lol. But they fill my heart with love and joy and I can’t see them suffer. I wish I had the funds to take them to the vet. They need to be snipped. Some of them would make good pets, but some are very scared of me still. But their need for food gets the better of them and they come to the door.

Oh my heart!!!! I love this so very much. I have 2 in our small home. Two adult strays on the back porch. One male and one female who just gave birth to 5 babies. Also, another young one, who actually belongs to the stray mama cat's last litter, who is around 7 months old and is pregnant now. Needless to say, I went and bought a live trap to catch these babies and try to find homes for them. I don't really know why all these strays come to our little home, but they show up here. We feed them and make them warm beddings for the winters. Maybe the word got out in the Catto Community that this is the place to be. I am grateful and love the kitty cats.

I live rural and have 9 cats like this. They just show up. They vary in how civilized they are. Three never go outside. The rest are what I call farm cats and sleep in my goat barn. They are friendly, love getting pet and help keep pests under control. The vet bills for 9 cats? Not a joke. However, you care for them, love them, and they return the favor. In the evenings II like sitting on the back porch to watch the sun set. They all get on the two-seater swing, and it is always a competition for affection among them. If my wife gets in the hammock, there will always be one or two join her.

Its been 5 yrs and I have 5 indoor cats and feed, fix, and get vaccinated 32 community kitties! My husband and I call our fenced in acre, Kitty City. They all have condos and beds- safe and healthy in our little compound! A vet comes out to check them all every month or as needed. I love every one of them so much- I am happier than Ive ever been knowing that they are all safe, protected and healthy here with us!!! These beautiful creatures are the best thing to ever happen to me!! Can’t imagine how I ever lived without them!!!

I've had 4 different cats adopt me since I've lived here at the beach and now I have 2 A female brown tabby that is the most talkative cat I've ever known but she's an outside cat. She wouldn't let anyone near her at first. Since she's been here a male tuxedo cat has been hanging around and she hates him because he is a bully and he was a real scardy cat and one day he just ran into my apartment and he loves it inside with me. He sleeps on my bed and then he sleeps on the floor beside my bed all day long. Sometimes it's hard to get him out of the place. Every morning he is on the chair on the porch staring at my door waiting to come in

I volunteer at a cat sanctuary and we had 2 cats returned to us bc the owners had medical crises. They had loved the kitties dearly and fed them lots of treats and the kitties were so sweet (and confused, wondering why they were with us instead of their human). I saw a gal watching me work, watching the kitties, and when my shift was over she approached me about one of these. She said she had put in an application and had come down every day to watch this kitten while waiting for it to be approved. She said she was already in love with her. She could tell that this kitty seemed to like being with this other kitty (the one she had been adopted and returned with) but was she allowed to adopt two? I was on the phone with my supervisor as soon as I got to the parking lot and both kitties were on their way home with their new mom within 2 hours. No more cages and all the love they had been missing.

Life DID give me a stray cat. A half grown kitten who was no more than a little bag of bones dying of hunger and thirst when he found me. Made me want to cry. Cat fights for 3 weeks with my , at that time, 7 year old tom. (A water spray bottle set to stream breaks up a fight in a heartbeat). Now, 5 years later they old friends. Occasionally they spar, but no one ever gets hurt. It's not uncommon to see one licking the other.
