The ballpark scenes were filmed at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, former home of the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League and the Los Angeles Angels in their first year as an expansion team in the American League in 1961. Lily warned Herman about spending too much time in the sun, and he replied, "I wouldn't want to lose my parlour pallor."

It's a shame Wrigley Field was demolished. My father-in-law grew up nearby. Great place to see a game.

@@thebaseballprofessor I forgot to mention that "Home Run Derby" was also filmed there, but this was several years before the scouts discovered Herman.

No, Wrigley was an enclosed ballpark in a neighborhood. There were houses all around, and beyond LF. In the baseball scenes, there are pine trees.

I grew up in the 80’s when the Munsters had a big following so I grew up watching these re-runs. I loved it then and love watching them now. The writing was outstanding and still makes me laugh as an adult. It was simple and harmless humor with no agendas and they didn’t need to be obscene or over the top to make people laugh, that is real genius.

The funniest episode to me was when a demolition crew showed up to demolish their house and while trying to talk politely to them herman gently nudges a bulldozer out of his way so he can get closer to them. That scared them away. Lol

The physical gags involving Herman's strength are hilarious in large part because of Fred Gwynne's performance. The show has aged so well.

Awesome commentary. Did you ever see the Joey Bishop show episode with Leo Durocher and Phil Foster? In that one, the two former best of friends will no longer talk to one another because Foster blames the other for the Dodgers abandoning Brooklyn for LA.

I remember an episode of Gentle Ben where Bob Gibson was a special guest star. I vaguely remember it and I don't think there are any clips of the episode. At least I haven't had an inclination to search for any. If I remember correctly, Mark got a hold of a book that had dubious strategies about playing baseball. When somehow Bob Gibson enters the story (it escapes me how), young Mark is taught a lesson in good sportsmanship.
