greatest goalkeeper of this generation imo, people fail to realize that the best goalkeepers in the world had world class defenders by their side. de gea had one of the worst defenses in the premier league but still performed and in contention for best gk in the world.

Agree, I know people may argue that Onana is doing alright making good saves here and there now. A lot of people called this(including myself)and always knew letting De Gea go this early was a mistake, but I don’t think anyone never realized it’s gonna be that big of a difference until he actually left. He’s always there to make the saves where you wouldn’t expect him to save and be amongst the leaders to step up when needed. The fact that a lot of our fans wanted him out passionately while he’s still here is disgusting behavior to a club legend. People said he isn’t a modern goalkeeper but this season proves Onana has proved that a goalkeeper end of the day is about shot stopping. And simply being good with your feet isn’t enough to cover the mistakes with your hands. Tbh he’s De Gea is better off leaving us for Real Madrid back then if the fax machine didn’t break, for the caliber of player he is he deserves that more than us

I’m glad time has been kind to De Gea cos I remember the abuse clear as day. Dude literally dragged us up the table yet our fans slaughtered him year in year out.

@@amr_rr I am one of those fans that really wants him to stay. Yeah, we are in a bad spot, but I can still see that players still fight hard and they really want to win. Bruno and Maguire still giving everything with injuries, Garnacho with his sprint, Koobie and Hojlund too. Even fucking Antony looks like he just needs a little more luck, because he performed well today, just a bit unlucky IMO.
