When a 'Failed' Play Ended a Hockey Curse.

Спорт

#nhl #hockey #torontomapleleafs
In the 2023 NHL playoffs the Toronto Maple Leafs faced the Tampa Bay Lightning for the second year in a row. After six straight first round exits, and 19 years without a playoff series win. John Tavares score of the OT winner to end a playoff curse. We break down how a ‘failed’ play a year prior contributed to the very play that ended a playoff curse.

Knies deserves a lot of credit for that play in OT. I will always say that losing him in the Florida series is one of the main reasons they ended up losing so quickly. Maybe they still would’ve lost with him in the lineup, but I think they at least would’ve stood more of a chance with him then without.

we all knew that the team blew its load just winning a single series. we all knew they were gonna get absolutely hammered in R2. now they can spend the entire length of Matthews' next contract try to win the 8 games it takes to make it to the Conf Final and they can FINALLY get down to the business of breaking our hearts in R3 like the good ol' days of the 90s and early 2000s.

One of your last sentences says it all - John Tavares' 1st series-winning goal is a goal the Leaf's fans will remember forever! Not bad for an 11 million cap-hit player! While his shot would have missed the goal by about three feet without the deflection, the decision to shoot in the first place was very good - I understand that 100% of the shots you don't take, won't go in. And with some traffic in front - so why not?

It seems more like you're trying to reach a certain word count in a highschool essay than making KZread video commentary. If you were to clean it up a bit so that you don't have as much repetition (especially at the end), I think it would make the video that much better. Either way, gj. This shit ain't easy.

Tavares doesnt have what it takes to win imo. Every team he plays on struggles with him as a leader. He's too quiet in the locker room to be a captain.

Also the officiating was absolutely crazy. Like, the put them in an asylum crazy. And of course, a high stick was missed right before the Leafs goal. Glorious NHL playoff hockey.

The thing I find funniest is that everyone was freaking out over the littlest things like Gudas pulling on Jarnkroks stick a little bit or getting mad that the refs called two blatant high sticks the year prior. But when not one, but two massive incorrect calls go in the leafs favour (missed high stick on Hagel in game 6 and Point goal being overturned for no reason in game 3) nobody bats an eye.

This Leafs team couldnt even measure up to rosters Boston, Tampa and FLorida had at their peak...They had to wait until Tampa was depleted and worn out to get by them....Tampa outplayed them in that series but thats why hockey is better than all other sports because one bad bounce or mistake can change outcome
