You would think being in the heart of tornado alley they would use a tone thats a little more "catching" than just alert.

Alert is the best. It’s not annoying af like wail.

These actually carry quite a distance. I can hear them from Moore even with Moore’s system going off.

@@snuffedtorch3683 i live in Sherman Illinois, back in March 2006, Springfield (5 miles to the south) had the "sister twisters", a rare pair of tornadoes, i was outside late that evening, and could hear Springfield's Thunderbolts before they lost power. Some of those sirens were damaged beyond repair, so the next year, Springfield got all new ASC T-128s, and Sherman followed suit, with 4 new ones, and one being installed around 200 feet +/- from my house. Yes!, i can hear that *ucker loud and clear, with all my windows and doors closed and locked, and without having either one of my hearing aids in place.

We have these same sirens on the outskirts of St. Louis, and when they go off at 10 AM on 1st Mondays, they startle everyone with how suddenly they wind up. They'll catch people's attention quickly (as they're supposed to 😂)

@@thecat627 i think ive seen them at some point in time, theyve been there for quite a while, 25-30 years? I live in central Illinois, the town i live in has 4 T-128s, with one right behind my house. They went off at 12 noon yesterday, (3/23/24), but our test day is first tuesday at 10 a.m. Our EMA thinks they were hacked, as the weather was fairly nice. Our T-128s wind-up fairly quick, and wind-down in about 10 seconds.

@@snuffedtorch3683There’s a 435Hz 2809 that replaced a Thunderbolt 3 miles from my house and I can easily hear it indoors and it is pretty loud outside too. Very good sirens!
