This is the very first activation of Byron, GA's brand new solar-powered Whelen Vortex R4, which is replacing the Federal Signal 500SH-TT on the water tower a couple hundred yards south of the new siren. We tested all six signals shortly after we wrapped up the installation on Sunday afternoon (May 4th), to ensure that the siren functions properly via local control. The Federal 500 is still active as of this posting, but will soon be removed, completely overhauled, and reinstalled somewhere else in the county for additional coverage.
