Wheeler Peak Summit Hike | GREAT BASIN NATIONAL PARK, Nevada

We hike Wheeler Peak in Great Basin National Park. At just over 13,000 feet, Mount Wheeler is Nevada's second highest mountain. Great Basin National Park is another hidden gem in the national park system. Although it is a full days drive from... anything, I would still go out of my way to visit this area of the country.

Just knocked this hike out 2 days ago. Beautiful views once you get to the top but all that scree doesn't help and the steep climb at the end doesn't make it easy. Well worth it and hanging out in Baker wasn't too bad either.

@@SOSASATSUNRISE Thanks I just watched your video on Longs Peak. Amazing! I'm thinking of doing that also but I think I need to work on my fitness.

One of my favorite national parks. So far off the beaten path. Beautiful photography. I'm curious why you guys don't use a hiking stick for additional stability on some of those rock paths?

We LOVED Great Basin. We would like to return and tour the caves. Usually we use our trekking poles for the trip down to save our knees. Usually the path going up is not as bad and we feel comfortable enough on our feet to not need them. Nathan will trip over himself regardless of where we are hiking with or without poles. 😀
