Players are not allowed to travel with the ball. They are required to throw or bounce it after every two pushes on their wheels. You can find more information about wheelchair basketball here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/YoaL2Lqzia7VeLA.html and here: www.paralympic.org/wheelchair-basketball

I wondered the same because I am disabled but can walk well enough to get around. I was told that you can compete in para-athletics as long as you aren't able to compete in standard sports.

this is called wheelchair basketball. so basically you need it. and there are separate basketball in paralympics for those who can run and walk.

You don't need to be in a wheelchair to play wheelchair basketball. Many players are ambulatory when not playing. You simply have to have a disability.

Paralympic Games that s dumb! I mean people that have full strength in their legs can control their bodies while sitting down much better so playing this sport is way easier than someone that can't. wheelchair basketball needs to have players with the same exact disability as everyone that is playing. being able to use your legs to help support and push up to help stabilize makes all the difference. I am a para and see this as boring and worthless with all the just sitting and blocking others from rolling. just create a perimeter around your player and let him or her just take all the time they need to shoot is what I'm seeing

Actually, no. Players are allowed to push twice before having to dribble. Hold the ball, push twice, dribble again. They can do that as many times as they want. A third push before dribbling again would be travelling.
