The moment Mark said "childish" in regards to his favorite nat 20 and nat 1 moments, I knew exactly where he was going, and it brought back so much nostalgia. I love High Rollers so much! Maybe it'd be cool to see Ginny as a guest on High Rollers if scheduling can work sometimes? I know the time zones are a large amount apart, but it'd be super cool and a person can dream lol

4:51 I've been doing that since I was 11 when Harry Potter came out! Never looked back & the greatest decision of my life to start cosplaying back in 2015? 2016? I've had LOADS of fun coming up with characters, cosplaying as my favorite fantasy characters, perfect use of my ginormous imagination that HP only helped broaden & I've further stretched myself over the years. 5:42 Druid is definitely my favorite. Fits my IRL personality as close as you can get for D&D. 6:30 I never thought of that! I have a list of 20 or something spells that I'd love to have in the real world and Mordenkainen's Mansion is definitely one of them. 7:16 Alter self is another spell on my want list for the real world. I agree with you Mark that it would so much easier for cosplayers to have that spell. Or even non-cosplayers. (I have a few things I'd like to see on myself that I'm too impatient to do the work right now tbh) 14:50 You are right that most people have really bad times in high school & having a friend group to get thru all that helps a lot. I had neither unfortunately. High school was the worst 4 years of my life, I had very limited to no friends at all & was very very lonely. College was way better since people were just there to learn and graduate, not push others down to make themselves look good. There weren't any popular groups or clicks like in high school which was a godsend honestly. I didn't know about D&D in college & there weren't any gaming groups so I kind of missed out. Not anymore! I made a load of good friends this past year watching D&D, playing games, talking to them and we all are in a campaign now with the 2nd session happening tmrw night. Could not be happier about that and it feels great to have real friends when you haven't had any for so long.

    1. My first D&D character was a bard named Eltyn Darnielle. He was the son of a noble and the youngest of six children, he's very sheltered and has kind of been ignored for most of his life. He briefly joined the clergy but got kicked out after getting caught sleeping with the high priest's daughter. Sometimes he'll sneak out and hang out among the commoners, who he gets along with more than the nobility he grew up with. He joined a group of adventurers after he saw them rescue someone from wrongly getting hanged. Admiring their bravery, he asked to join along in exchange for writing songs about their deeds. 2. Wizards. While having so many spells to choose from is cool, having to manage materials for spellcasting and changing them everyday would probably get tiring, so if I'm going to be a spellcaster I'd rather be a sorcerer or warlock. 3. Wish. It could just make life so much easier. 4. Owlbears and kobolds. I actually came up with three NPCs who are kobold brothers who sometimes pretend to be a dragonborn by standing on each other's shoulders and wearing a long cloak. 5. My favorite NPC that I created is Fritz the Ragam uffin, a goblin gang leader who uses magic to commit crimes (Those three kobolds I mentioned work for him.) The best thing about him is he can either be an ally or enemy depending on how you treat him. 6. No, unless you consider campaigns getting dropped as dying. 7. The warlock in my first party tried to catch a flaming sword that was thrown at him, rolled a nat20 acrobatics check, caught it, and got to keep it. 8. I tried to stab this wererat that crawled out of our portable hole, I rolled a nat1, and tripped in the hole while dragging him down with me. 9. I got Eltyn to level 7, but he was at level 4 when I began. 10. Tie between alchemy jug and bag of tricks. I gave them to two of my players as starting items (the drunken master monk got the jug so he could have an endless supply of booze, and the ranger got the bag of tricks so he could have some creatures to call upon if he got separated from his mount [which happens a lot].) 11. My real life alignment is neutral good. 12. Haven't gotten to play as her, but I'd date this college of swords bard I created who has a fighting style based on hula hoop dancing. I... have a thing for hoop dancers. 13. I have three: -Sycamore, a warforged druid who's actually an elf whose soul was placed in the body of an old wooden guardian by a spiteful fey. -Bovanya, a firbolg path of the ancestral guardian barbarian whose the last of a tribe of warrior women and summons the ghost of her dead mother in battle. (I'm going going to play her in this campaign my coworker is coming up with.) -Gormek the Splendid, a half-orc bard/sorcerer multiclass who uses electricity in both battles and performances, and in both uses his mace like a tesla coil. 14. Dice minimalist. But I do have a large d20 the size of an apple. 15. Most of them to be honest, but that's only because I have a hard time remembering complicated game rules in general.

Something I do to help keep up with reactions is, I do them once per round so as soon as the top of a round starts everyone's reactions reset, most of the time it's easier that way, but the last person in a round can do reactions back to back if they have something they can use a reaction for. So kind of makes them have to really think about what they want to do with there reaction.

Everyone seems to mistake "Lawful" for following the local laws. Lawful just means that the character has a code that they follow. Crossing the street when you d*** well please, might not be breaking your own personal code. Of course, a Lawful-character's code might be to follow the local laws, and that can become an interesting dilemma when the law goes against what's good. But, in general, a Paladin that believes in freedom isn't going to enslave someone just because the law says that you're supposed to. A paladin that believes that killing under all circumstances is bad, isn't going to carry out the execution of a murderer just because the law says that's the penalty for murder. "Lawful" does not mean, "Follows local laws."

I had a GM/DM who 'started' several campaigns when I knew him, with a Deck of Many Things. He seemed to always be hot on the idea, and it just never worked out. We'd get one character on one plane of existence, another on another, etc. And then not only did we as players have no idea how that would work, but he clearly didn't have a plan for it. But, then, it never failed, the next week, he'd be all excited and say, "I'd like to run, but first, everyone needs to draw from the deck of many things!" It was almost comical. Like, as a GM who didn't want to run something, it'd be a great way to get players to stop asking you to run, but he always asked us if he could run, and always started us out in some dungeon room, or castle, or something, and there was a deck of many things in front of us. And, if we didn't want to draw, he'd always somehow force our character's to draw. If KZread had existed back then, we'd probably made an inside-joke, "meme video" out of that guy. (Inside-joke+meme. Huh?)

In my homebrew game, our DM created a Deck of Many Tarrasques. It's not as scary as it sounds; they're reusable summons, and are generally small and "useless" -- some of the ones we've come up with so far are: - one that screams at you and runs away - a round boy that just rolls around - an angel/devil on your shoulder combo that only the summoner can see/hear - one that only recites Shakespeare in primordial - one that does your hair and makeup We have a lot to think up (since we're basing it off a standard 52 card deck), and we've joked about the joker card being a real ass tarrasque that we (somehow) convinced to hang out in a magical card until it got summoned lol

23:52 I am chaotic good all the way. Maybe a smidge of lawful good in there. I really hate when people try to intimidate others and I do follow 99% of the rules (sometimes) and others I just think are stupid. I do value kindness, honesty and I am quite the loner tbh. 29:36 I would've thought you were a dice goblin Mark based on how many games you DM. Learn something new everyday! I am a dice goblin for sure. I like the pretty colors but I am quite picky about which sets I'll buy. They have to really make me want to buy & use them. Swirl sets are my current favorite style of dice but I would really like to get some metallic dice eventually. There's still a lot of rules and stuff I don't understand having only played a session or two but I'm sure something will stand out once I start playing more & DMing of course. For now, I'm just going enjoy playing and look forward to DMing probably later this year if not sooner depending how this campaign with my friends lasts.

oh goodness just add me to the growing list of people who have dnd characters partially inspired by Evie in The Mummy lmao. I've only really made one character so far, and I didn't actually know that background was a somewhat major part of character creation in addition to race and class. I ended up accidentally trying to make a Cobalt Soul monk without actually having that "Way" available to me because I picked the Sage background, and one of the sub-options (that I'm not sure affects anything) was Librarian. I picked it solely because it made me think of the drunken "I...am a librarian!" bit. Haven't quite figured out how that fits in with the monk thing, or how that'd work with whichever subclass I choose, but we took a hiatus for covid and i live in california so i've got *plenty* of time... :/

It's easy for me to create a character. However, actually really enjoy playing as myself in a fantasy setting where there be medieval fantasy or a sci-fi fantasy but playing as myself is very interesting like what would I do in that situation type of thing I've actually done campaigns with my friends like this and it would turn out to be a lot of fun.

What was your first D&D character? Whimsy the Tiefling Warlock, did things on a whim and was made BEFORE JESTER :D Which D&D class is your least favorite to play, or do you not want to play? I don't like Wizard, don't like the maintenance and gold sink. What D&D spell would you most want to have in real life? Glibness, the certainty of being able to talk to people successfully would save me so much trouble. Charm effects or suggestion could do the same thing but wouldn't sit well with me. But also if the spell you want isn't level 9 you should probably take wish :/ What’s your favorite D&D monster? Beholder for extreme paranoia and the multitude of ways you could swing it! Also making a world where dragons replace magic, religion and government so I guess dragons too :) What’s your favorite NPC/villain that you’ve encountered/created? Mackenzie. A scummy second-in-command human bandit who died in a Tarantino-esque bar scene ending with a bombardment of AoE's, went to hell, got hired by Satan to kill Santa, and was rewarded with resurrection as a pseudo-lich to get back at the party! Has one of your characters ever died, and what killed them? Whimsy got smushed at level 1 by a basic attack by a 2-3CR creature :'( Another Warlock also got smushed at level 1 so I have stopped making Warlocks :D What's your best natural 20 story? Not the best as there's tons of close calls I'm not entirely sure if nat 20's were involved, just the one I can think of recently. A tough fight where the enemy did Inflict Wounds and rolled REALLY high on damage leaving me on ~4 hp, then I cast it back at him and critted to take them out :) What’s your best natural 1 story? Party was getting butchered in the middle of a small war, they killed the Monk leader and I rolled for the overall morale of the force...and the army of monks surrendered to their new adventurer overlords :O What's the highest level you've ever played a character to? Dolph the Pirate (Swashbuckler/Battle Master) is at level 18. Likely the only character I'll have a chance to get to 20 :O What’s your favorite magical item? I enjoy making my own. A bow that enlarges any arrows it shoots making it a siege weapon, a beholder gun, a symbiotic bracelet that lets you permanently augment spells every time you level up, a Staff of Reflex that lets you buy more reactions with your hit die, etc. If you had an IRL alignment, what would it be? Somewhere between True Neutral and Neutral Good. If you had to date one of your characters, which one would you pick? Pheonix the Artificer, a brilliant mind dedicated to her craft but still cares about people; she just lets her actions speak for her which is a language I can understand! Is there a character you want to play but haven’t had a chance to play yet? Bonnie the Middle-Aged Loxodon Azorius Beaurocratic Librarian that is REALLY bored of her 9 to 5 office job, and thanks to Loxodons' Con based AC I can dump strength AND dex to make her suitably clumsy and unfit! Would probably be the "mother" of her respective party. Hopefully will play in Ravnica one day. Are you a dice goblin, or a dice minimalist? Dice minimalist, only 6 sets and I just use a basic tiny one for portability. What rule or mechanic have you never quite wrapped your brain around? I love Ward my Half-Orc Half-Dwarf Bear-barian, but my GOD working out Wild Shapes is a pain in the ass (and then subjective which of your half-orc traits apply to your wild shape :S )!

Hey, gonna just write a comment, cause I haven't gotten any sort of setup for recording good audio or video to make a video. I'll copy paste this on both of the channels cause the communities are probably a little different for both, and if you haven't watched both videos, go do that, they're great! 1. My first proper and fully played D&D character was a gnome swashbuckler rogue named Lanxim "Lynx" Lawerence Lorenzo Jenny Mushkins Jenkins. He started as a Thief, but we quickly switched his subclass to Swashbuckler, as that fit the character and my playstyle much better. More on him later 2. My least favorite D&D class is Warlock. Not because of any of the mechanics, but because I've simply had a bunch of crap experiences with it from the way my main DM handles it. It's great for other players, but it tends to make me a little sick to the stomach because I take some of the things a bit too much to heart. 3. For my spell, I'd take either Lesser Restoration or Heal. It'd be a nice way to help with the little problems I and people I'm with often deal with 4. My favorite D&D monster is the Flail Snail. I mean, just look at it. It's the perfect one. 5. My favorite NPC is an exentric gnomish artificer (in name and work, not in class) and merchant named Jgerald Flahppenbahtem, who is actually a Djinni. He shows up across many of the worlds I make, and is sort of his own force at this point. He's only slightly based off of a character from the first campaign of High rollers. 6. The only character I've had that has properly died is Lynx. One night while we were traveling, after having investigated a city that had developed a mysterious fog, we woke up to see that the Leomund's Tiny Hut we were camping in had been surrounded by undead and dire wolves. Being incredibly rash, strong-headed, and downright stupid, Lynx had the excellent idea of running out to fight the wolves. After he had popped out and not immediately gone back in, the wizard cast a fire wall nearly completely surrounding the party, leaving Lynx outside of it. After taking a bad round of damage, Lynx had to choose between diving through the wall, or starting to run around it. Were he to run around it, he would have definitely been caught and torn up by the wolves or shot down by the skeletons, but being a rogue, he had the Evasion feature, and could have dove through the wall and take no damage. Unfortunately, he failed his dex save and got knocked down trying to dive through the wall. Because the wizard decided to pop out and cast a spell, the Tiny Hut had been taken down, and nobody even tried to heal the poor fellow, they had decided that clearly his luck was good enough for him to not die and dragged him to the center of the party. He failed his first death saving throw, and when it got to one of the skeleton's turns, it walked up and stabbed him in the chest, finishing him off. Luckily, however, the party had a Revivfy scroll on them, but nobody who fully had the spell on their list. Desperately, the bard, being the closest thing to somebody who could cast the spell, began to pray to whatever being who cared, and Lynx's soul awakened to see Pelor, the god of the sun. He offered Lynx a deal. If he would promise to eventually deal with the threat in the city the party had just left, a powerful vampire, Pelor would return him to life through their bard. Lynx accepted the deal and was left with a large knotted scar across his chest. Lynx would much later go to kill the vampire, who began to work with a powerful Dracolich called Zenith, but that's a story for another time. 7. My best nat 20 story is not one of my own. In a campaign that just ended, I was dm'ing for a party of level 12 characters, and they facing against a very powerful ancient blue dragon, who was an incredibly talented warrior on top of being a dragon. The dragon was incredibly prideful, and refused to finish off any of the pc's, he felt even without killing them, when he knocked them down or nearly killed them, he felt his point was made and went on to the others. This was a terrible mistake on his part. The party, with magical assistance from a powerful arch fey one of the members was 'friends' with, very quickly brought the dragon to low hit points. As it fled deeper into its cave, the party cornered it and chopped away at it, it managed to squeeze and slip away, knocking a few of the party away, but the paladin, who had fly cast on her by a pixie flew up to the dragon, hitting it squarely on the head with her warhammer with a nat 20 and a massive smite, dealing exactly enough damage to drop it just below 0 hp. It was as perfect an ending to the campaign as could have happened. Completely unrelated, and for a completely different game, the party was working with a Goblin Boss, and with its disadvantage second scimitar attack, I rolled 2 nat 20's and absolutely deleted a giant rat. 8. My favorite natural 1 story isn't about what happened in the story itself, but just a sort of a running joke. I play a halfling trickster cleric, and for a large portion of the campaign, at least a month or two of sessions, I did not roll a single nat 1, being a halfling, I love to roll nat 1's cause I can reroll them. Then it finally happened, instead of a 2 or a 3, I got that delicious rerollable natural 1. I rerolled it, directly into another nat 1. Everybody had a good laugh, and we went on to enjoy the game. It was possibly the funniest moment we had had together in a very long time. 9. In a campaign, from start to finish, the highest level I've ever reached is 13, it was also Lynx, but since I joined in at level 8, I won't really count that one. From level 1 to 12, I played a sorcerer/artificer named Pali Jenkins, Lynx's son. We played through Descent into Avernus, and it was some events involving Pali's sister that gave me the bad conotation I have for warlock. 10. It's hard to choose a favorite magical item, but I think right now my favorite is the Luckstone. It's simply literally a lucky rock, and I have an old Tabaxi Monk who goes by Coal that has a very nice attachment to his lucky rock. The mechanics of it are simple, and I just love to roleplay him with this shiny rock 11. I'd probably be more on the Lawful Good side of things. Definitely a teacher's pet and goody-two shoes sort of guy. 12. If I were to date one of my characters, it would be the aforementioned Arch Fey that helped kill the dragon. Her name is Anthurium, a deific Arch Fey of the spring court, and she simply wants to be friends with everyone and hosts many get togethers for folks interested in such things. She prefers to befriend immortal beings, such as undead, as they can literrally be forever friends, which is her entire deal. Somebody who won't murder me, or isn't a guy is a little more ideal. Although Jgerald could make my wishes come true 13. This one's a little tough because I dont usually make characters before there's a campaign for them. However, one character I made, which I played for a few sessions but haven't gotten to fully play out, is a human ranger named Haimerej Krik. He's a scholarly, nerdy sort, who wants to explore and learn as much about the world and nature that he can. He specializes in throwing weapons combat-wise, but was far more focused around his studies than fighting, and would prefer to avoid it when possible. That doesn't mean he's not incredibly good in a fight, it's just not his favorite. 14. I'd like to call myself a dice goblin, but I only just bought one big pack of dice and haven't gotten much more since. Due to online gaming, I mostly roll online dice, it's more convenient and such with stuff like dndbeyond and roll20. So I'm more of a dice minimalist than goblin 15. There's a couple rules that I haven't fully gotten through my thick skull, and a few I disagree with and usually change or handwave entirely when I run games. The main one I like to joke about is the way long rests work. A typical humanoid adventurer, excluding elves, only needs 6 hours of sleep, and can just do light activity for the other 2 hours, and even combat or other "adventuring activity" for up to an hour, then go on the rest of the day completely recharged and ready for travel and intensive fighting. I wish I could do all that and be fine with just sitting and typing without being as tired as I am! Thanks for reading this far, and if for whatever reason you're curious about the character's and games I've mentioned here, I'm happy to chat about dnd lol. Have a good one!

the reaction thing might be made easier, by having like reaction tokens or something. One token per person, and npc/monster. like one side with a reeaction symbol and one with a blank or like done symbol.

I Introduced the Deck of Many Things to my Players at session 2. It was my first time DMing and non of my players ever played DND. I came up with a mystical Merchant, that just appeared on a float in the High Sea and had those powerfull magical items (with Pricetags way to high to afford). My players could either pay or play a game for the Items (the odds of these minigames are stacked against them). If they win they get the Item for free, if they loose they have to draw a card. It spawned to my suprise an hour of spontainious Roleplay about why the punishment would be drawing a Card. 3 of the 4 charakters Played and lost and sun and moon were drawed ( Sun by the Solari Cleric (a custom Class i made and the Moon for the Owl Aaracocra ranger so dnd gods and premonition stays true i guess). They got so Excited that the third player lost intentionaly and he drawed the Donjon and lost his Char. Since then the Whenever the Merchant appears they are Tempted and terryfied at the same time and its delicious. Btw Nice Video i like it very much

I feel like, almost, splitting wildshape into it's own martial class for like, werewolves and shit, and focusing on druid's connection to the land and it's spirits and such side of things would be better? Because then if you want wildshaping druids multiclassing is a thing.

Seems there are a lot of players lately that thinks evil in dnd is on a scale- Lawful evil to neutral evil to chaotic evil. Maybe some would switch neutral and chaotic. But that is not how it is. Each evil character is evil to its own degree. Some characters are more evil than others but how they like to organize have nothing to do with that.
