John, Fun as ever.. earthquake and tsunami proof transport. .. great video again.. i am impressed. By your unpacking technique and of course of the Tebba 3220W. I heard a few side word's that made my ears prick up. Replacing at least two old Elinchrom heads in the near future: What holds me back at the moment from simply buying a second ELB500, is the recovery time which is fne untill 10% power see below and quite o.k. up to about half power usage. I assumed, until seeing your video, that the ELC500 are the more modern heads than the Pro (Pro are even cheaper here in CH). To create a Video about power usage and recovery timemight be tricky. But I totally trust you to this? Setting RecoverTime ELB500 A ELB500 B 2.3 / 2.3 0.5s 31ws 31ws 5.3./5.3 3.5s 250ws 250ws

Thanks Arthur! The ELC Pro is older but recycles faster but the newer ELC has TTL, HHS and a better user interface. While I think that video would be useful I bet it would be too nerdy for most people, not me though! Now I am wondering if there is a sweet spot. I used to shoot at f11 and now I am shooting at f8 or f5.6 so hopefully these recycle times will be less important for me.

Watching you play with LEGO’s was entertaining, are you sure that you want to trust the animals on a flight,i.e. baggage handlers, with the Temba? My first approach would have been to rip off all the dividers from the new case and try to use he ones from the pely and then try to slot the tray from the pely on top, basically keeping the same layout....

Thanks! That would have been a better approach! Lol. The Tenba cases are capable of supporting 400 and it’s meant to be checked so it should be alright.

I used to have a Tenba case that I used for light stands and such. Wonder what happened to it. I use a hard golf bag case now. For lights I prefer Pelican cases. Can't beat the protection. Heavy to pick up. But, easy to roll.

Is the Tenba Case just as strong as the Pelican Case? You can use that Pelican as a stool if necessary.. That Tenba doesn't look that sturdy..

Their Air cases are meant to be checked on airplanes. According to their website “They are strong enough to withstand more than 400 pounds (180 kg) stacked on top, yet they weigh up to 35% less than a typical plastic hard case.”

was feeling your stress John..lol. Honestly, those 500's and packs would have been on Ebay a long time ago. Old tech, far too awkward and heavy. Good stuff.

Don't be so quick, man? :-) We have Elinchrom equipped studio and for weddings, we have used Eli's ELB 400. It was really nice, when I was assisting my wife, as the head is so light, that it was a briese to manipulate. Then we got rid off all the Canon speedlites and got a Profoto A1. What a nice small portable light - I refused to actually call it a "speedlite". We have also added a B10, because cableless is a trendy thing, right. But - to hold it above your head, even with its relatively light 1.5 kg is what I actually call an awkward situation. As I am not assisting my wife anymore, she uses only a Profoto A1 nowadays.

This a downgrade. Are you gonna ditch the pelican and the extra light and other stuff just because some company sent you a bag. That's dissappointing to watch. I tought you were gonna do a review and then do a give away or something.

I was looking for a replacement for sometime because the case legitimately is too heavy to move around and legitimately I do not need seven heads. Maybe I’m going to find that I miss the performance of the three monolights but I can say right now that it was way more pleasant lifting this case out of my car this morning and placing it on the ground than the old one

@@JohnGress you are not cutting too much weight off. The sacrifice is too much. If all the gear fit in there perfectly and if It were lighter then it would have been a different game all together.

A 14% reduction in lights and a 17% reduction in weight.
