IKR, His cemetery name plate says WW2.. He would have been 13-14 when WW2 ended. ODD. If he joined in 1954, The Korean War ended in 1953, America started sending troops to Vietnam in March 1965. He still a Veteran either way but who/ why did they put WW2 on his cemetery plot.

I grew up in Los Angeles in the 60s and 70s and watched The Little Rascals and Our Gang on UHF Channel 52 out of Orange County. I loved them when I was a kid and still love them today. Buckwheat was always one of my favorites of the group. RIP to William, and thank you for all the memorable entertainment.
I just watched an interview the other day that he did in 1975 and he was a very quiet, humble and kind person.
Wow, 49 that was young. May he rest in peace 🙏🏽
I loved Stymie Beard! ❤ He died in January 1981. He's buried in Evergreen cemetery in Los Angeles California.
Our Gang started in the 20's ( silent era at first). Then in the early 30s, there was Farina, who predates Buckwheat and they went back and forth on the shorts, one minute Farina was a boy ( and was in real life) and for others, Farina was a girl but still played the actor Allen Hoskins( also the highest paid black child of the time, even over his counterparts) As the kids got older they were replaced. Buckwheat replaced Farina.

You do a great job bringing us these videos of celebs graves and their back stories of their lives. The only issue I see in this video, is the still picture at the beginning and the video inserted, was of Bill English who claimed to be the original Buckwheat on an ABC show with either Ted Koppel or Dan Rather. Even George "Spanky" McFarland said it wasn't Bill Thomas on that show. Great info on Bill Thomas and may he continue to Rest Peacefully.

It's a dam shame but I was grown in my 30's before I knew Buckwheat was a boy. I grew up watching reruns on a black and white tv in the late 50's - 60s.
The error is, he was about 10 years old when WW2 started and about 14 when it ended. Regardless, he was a veteran who existed and lived through our countries hardships in those days. Remembered, loved, and admired.
Buckwheat was cute & funny. My favorite character was " Froggy " !
I loved "Our Gang" and "Little Rascals" as a kid.

Why does the grave marker say WW2 when he would have only been 14 years old when it ended? He didn't enlist until 1954. Should the grace marker not have displayed Korean War instead? Just curious.
