100% keyboards are super underrated, taking the time to learn ascci is totally worth it and crunching numbers is way easier in numpad, you can also buy a separate numpad but tbh i still like it all together better

@@madman4043 pretty sure alice is a specific board while arisu is the actual layout, and how tf do they sound the same? they have 2 letters in common.

I have a full sized and both of the options are true for me. Well, technically I don't actually need it but it makes life helluva lot easier. I am Czech and many of our special characters like ě, š, č, etc. are typed using the number keys on top, it only types a number when holding shift. So having a normal keypad on the side is a lot easier to use. It's also just faster because the keys are closer together. And when not used to type keys it's nice to have basically 15 extra key for macros, be it stuff like video or image editing software, or even gaming.

I like membrane keyboards due to how silent it is and it's easier to type on at work. I bought a mechanical keyboard with hot swappable switches. I plan to make it less noisy. I do like the color combination.

To be honest, the split keyboard one sailed right over my head. I am sure I missed a great joke here. And yes, I have been using split keyboards for a number of years now. My daily drivers (work/home) are DIY builds - a FiFi and an ErgoDash.

@@elise205 Most 60% keyboard and 75%s are much heavier than any plastic gamer prebuilt, and even if they are lighter than a metal full size, they won’t more around. Also, fn layers exist, meaning you can essentially have 3x your keys on a 75% keyboard, making full size useless since you can get a detachable numpad.

I feel the razer ones so much I found out about customs 4 days after buying one 😭

Yeah, not everyone wants to wait months for individual parts ordered from group buys or sites they've never heard of, then assemble said parts AND manually lube/mod every single switch or surface. PSA: don't confuse "membrane" with "rubber dome." The IBM model M is a membrane keyboard. "Membrane" just means it has plastic sheets with electrical contacts under the switches.

It's not about having an absolutely premium build, it's about how happy you are with your build. You could go custom, mod, prebuilt or cheap, but just go for what you feel it's the best for you. I have a Drevo Naga (RK G68 equivalent) modded with Kailh Pro Purples, tape mod and Akko keycaps. It's not a custom but a mod. 1000 Hz for gaming and the feeling is perfect to me. It also sounds spectacular. If you are happy with your build, don't compare it to others and enjoy! Have a nice day! :·)

I've worked for and bought all my keyboards. I know how much they're worth, but still use the KBD67 Lite because I like the sound and feel of it the best. No where near "expensive" in the community, but makes me happy. Keyboards, switches, and keycaps are all preferences. You can't judge someone on their preference.

@@emperana636 Exactly! Some people out there get super laughed at because they have Cherry browns... Like, Cherry browns can be excellent choices for gaming because they aren't a heavy switch for example, or heavy typers that don't like bigger bumps because it can be tiring. It's all about preference. They might not have a big bump but some people like them for a reason! It's funny to see Glarses laugh at them satirically because of the slight bump, he likes bigger bumps and I can see why he doesn't like them. People who laugh of others' build is lame. Gaming keyboards have 1000Hz while customs tend to have 240Hz or lower. If you buy a Razer keyboard because you like Razer or you were searching the 1000Hz, it's justified! An expensive keyboard doesn't mean it's superior. I have a ten-keyless custom with holy bobas on my office, it is very expensive and time consuming to build, but it's not the best keyboard because of it. I love the feel for long sessions of programming, but I wouldn't use it as my main keyboard at home. I love my Drevo modded one because it feels amazing to use at home when doing homework or gaming, even more than my alluminum build in my office. I enjoy it much more thanks to its super compact shape. Again, find your perfect keyboard and enjoy it, ignore the price tag. It's not about the premium, it's about how the feeling of it and how well it suits you :>

@@dinoshartttits not actually that horrible, my main complaint is that the actuation force is like 3 times as high as almost all mechanical keyboards, but that just means that when I finally switched to a mechanical keyboard I basically doubled my typing speed.

Modded budget boards (RK61, K606, SK61 etc): You want to build a custom board so badly but you don't have the money so you settle for modding your $40 board

I've been using my mom's IBM Model M for almost 2 years now & I can say that there's no other keyboard that can come close to the feeling of the original Model M. As a dude with medium fingers, I don't really find myself pressing 2 keys at once & I can easily feel if I pressed the wrong or right keys compared to my old tiny mechanical keyboard. The keys are kinda heavy to press but you'll get the hang of it in about a month.

i think there are certain exeptions, personally i am a fan of the non ergoforce Keytronics dome keyboards, they are a good board for typists, very durable and they are still cheap. get one before they dissapear, you will not regret it

I bought the IBM Model M last week for less than 300 dollars. Oh how much I love it 🤓🤓 It was in pristine condition, Keys working perfectly, the thing makes me want to write an essay out of the blue, which I did.

Keychron keyboard had me rolling. I have one that I modded myself, but i love this board the most out of any of the ones i have used.

I personally love the magic keyboard.. or one with the same style. It’s easier to type, and the bulky keys are a bit of a hassle. But.. that’s just me, who’s grown up with a laptop his whole life.

Turns out it comes down to preference. Who would have thought? Different strokes for different folks. Respect to you for sticking up for the magic keyboard.

Full keyboards are so useful for simulator games, I can’t imagine playing warthunder simulator air without my num pad to map extra functions to.

I have one of those Logitech Bluetooth keyboards where the keys are like flat and don’t pop up or whatever and the keys have an awkward circle shape. Don’t even know what it’s called

I built a custom dactyl manuform with Boba U4t switches and after using it, I realized how uncomfortable standard keyboards really are.

I have a razer keyboard and I love it, I can type 90 wpm, and I'm happy, and I don't want to change, but this is a good video and it was funny, and yes, it's true, I have the money for a custom board but I just don't want it.

I'm going for a tenkeyless size and have a separate number pad on the right side of my mouse. Not sure if it's gonna be better or worse, but I like having the extra mouse space on my deskmat with a smaller TKL board. If I need numpad use I can reach over to the numpad to my right and my space is still a lot clearer.

I have a unicomp mini m. Which is a reproduction of the old IBM Model M SSK's that Lexmark made in the 90's. The SSK variant of the model m is basically just a tenkeyless model m. Though it's a reproduction, it's not any less of a model m. It's made by the same tooling, by the same people, in Lexington Kentucky. I absolutely love this thing!

Honestly, i have a razer keyboard and i don't feel like getting a custom one, i just love the green switches sound and how beautiful the razer blackwidow is.

I'm currently looking to build an ergonomic keyboard and was looking at Alice and split, so those entries made me laugh out loud 😂

I will never get rid of my IBM model M. Really silly to game on it regularly, and the racket it produces when typing can get obnoxious. Still fun to use.

Depends on the Keychron, at the moment there is no other Bluetooth keyboard with QMK, and I would really miss Space Cadet Shift in a keyboard without it. Next step is a fully custom…

Well, you got me. Whether I'm smart is very much up for debate, but I'm definitely broke. Also, I do intend to play on my piano keyboard sometime, it just works too well as a table.

I have a Corsair Strafe MK2 with Cherry switches. I stopped using it because I don't have a desk for it, so now I just use the built in membrane keyboard from my laptop

As a keychron user, moving from the k6 to the q1, i can confirm that especially the keychron one is very true. (i got the barebones kit since all the switch options and keycap options suck.)

@@RichardHorpe That is true. I'm a mac/windows user. I use mac when I'm in the go and I have to edit something in ableton and I'm not at home.

The piano one is so true 😭

I go with any brand, as long as its a 75%. The smaller the gap between keys, the faster I can work with art stuff... The con is learning all the extra shortcuts.

as someone who owns a tm680, i can hands down agree that its a budget GMMK pro

You can’t get much better tha it for the price. if you oring mount it and add foam etc it can be really good. It’s biggest downside is lack of pcb stabs

The best keyboard I've ever had, which I'm still using and typing this on, is the Dell SK-8135. I'm now bound to be disappointed every time I try something else.

40 percents are a good price if you don’t blow a ton of money on one. you can get an alice 40% for around 100 dollars in total including switches, stabs, and keycaps
