I mean at the end of the day anime is just a type of artstyle that is appealing look at wether it be gaming, comics or movies/ series to tell stories. For 1 its in the artist freedom to make the characters look watchable where as most human facial imperfections arent appealing to look at hence why mostly coventionally handsome or beautiful actors are recognised for the success of the movie compared to the effort by the directors and staff who make the movie.
