as a school drummer, i’m actually really happy you said that, as drummers get a lot of hate “your instrument is so easy how could you mess up” when really, it’s hard to do fast drum rolls, and your fellow drummers have to match the exact rate your drumming at otherwise it won’t sound good, and also i’m all like we have notes too, we don’t just have to hit the drum, we gotta tap our drumsticks, the rim, hit one stick right before the other, have to do single stroke rolls and i ask people “okay what’s this note mean?” they’re all like “uhh i don’t know” i’m all like “EXACTLY DRUMMING IS HARD”

As a flute player in a school band, I can confirm that instead of studying actually important music, everyone is either playing meme songs, toddler show intros, Zelda music occasionally, or mostly (and the best of all) the flupet, which is blowing into the flute like a trumpet after taking off the head joint. Trumpet blow into just the foot joint and you have the trumpello

I play percussion, ukulele, synth, and piano. I also tried to learn guitar, violin, and trumpet and stops for players to revisit them in the future. The piano have to be my favorite instrument but I like ukuleles and guitars too, because you can make songs using only them and it won’t sound anything and plus you can sing while doing it

As a drummer I agree with this. A lot of people at my school say stuff like “Hey listen to this for just a second”, start hitting a table, and it mentally hurts how out of rhythm they are.

Percussion: You hate it when people say “OMG you play the drums?” or “OMG you play the xylophone?”
