He was out of touch with the course of the world as a whole and as such he shouldn't have been in power for the length of time he was. There absolutely was not enough of everything under his rule.

@@user-ns3rm8vj8d прожирали советское наследие, все прорывы которые были сделаны в 60е года и которые должны были развится в 70е были тупо профуканы и съедены, а далее добивающие 80е. Зачем что то делать, когда можно жить и жировать на том что есть совсем не думая о будущем. Это не ошибка народа СССР, а ошибка его руководства. 70е года должны были отправить советского человека на луну и автоматизировать производство как и управление государством, технологии были разработаны. В 80е мы должны были стать первой экономикой в мире, а в 90е западный мир должен был накрыть кризис, который они отсрочили до 2008 года и нынешних дней путем грабежа остатков СССР и СНГ. Вот такая печальная история, а так да конечно, 70е были золотым временем, но было оно золотым потому что наработки были не использованы, а съедены грубо говоря.

Its good that you show all this. Young people opinions, and what they think/feel. I'm from Poland and its very sad to me as a Slav, that two Slavic countries fight eachother. I still cannot comprhenad it (i mean i know its politics, power, etc). Young people are very similar almost everywhere - want to live, be happy, feel good about future and right now they are denied of it. It infuriates me, that in age of good technology and internet we have to deal with conflicts like that. I want Russian people to know (especially young), that a lot of people don't hate you (as people or citizens). Anyone with critical thinking abilities know that Putin and politicians are to blame (not only Russian politicians). Try not to lose your hope, as only than you really lose. If anything Polish history showed that. Wish you all and all of us peace.

A lot of these people have emigrated, so you will have a chance to meet some of them in the future. Probably, my circle of friends is not quite representational (I am a software developer) but the majority of my former colleagues (including my family and me) left Russia during the recent 5-6 years. It is something like separation process we have when distinguishing fractions of liquid. The majority of people sharing liberal and democratic values have separated themselves from this dumb crowd who want to have a king and live in Medieval times.

Yeah actually politics work hard to divide peoples but in the case of the british and the russians we really are strangely very very similar. But of course very different in certain aspects as well. I attribute that to the zodical signs, the british are the libra, and the russians are auquarius, we are like the same vibe and it shows in very many aspects, though libra is more harmonious and productive, aquarius is like the lazy one with very wide thinkibg abilities wbut with ease for radical thinking as well, so all this strange happenins is actually the weirdness of the aquarius sign because you get such extteme stupkd actions without reason and at the same time such reasonable thinking from the people on the street. It is because aquarius completely lacks consistency in thoughts and actions but this is what gives them the power to be a much freer thinker than most countries and it is really true, when you are russian many other countries really strike you with their comparative narrow mindedness, although the russian brand of narrow mindedness is also the most absurd one as well as i said the country of the extremes

If it were indeed dangerous, they would all have been arrested and mobilized a very long time ago. A lot of people don't understand that the blokes in 1420 are tolerated by Putin because ultimately they are largely harmless, won't change anything and give the Government a reliable source of information regarding the mood of the population, even when it is clear that the person being interviewed is intimidated and not replying sincerely. Besides, Daniil is careful to be always respectful towards the little man. Had he dared to be more assertive or aggressive regarding a change of leadership in Russia, he would have ended like Boris Nemtsov. Putin just doesn't take the kids in 1420 seriously, or they would be lying covered with flies in the Donbass as I write.

Этого делать не нужно, потому что ваша задача, как интервьюверов, поставить максимально нейтрально вопрос и получить обрабатываемый ответ. 2. ЧЖБ-флаг - ограниченно имперский. Нынешний флаг тоже имперский (ещё и власовский). Тем не менее, на молодом человеке с нашивкой в виде флагов я увидел спереди Tottenkopf. Так о какой денацификации речь, Путин?! 3. «Я не разбираюсь в политике» - лучший показатель молодёжной политики. 4. Ни одного чёткого ответа - все стараются куда-то уплыть, хихикать и так далее. Страшно на нас смотреть - никакой открытости. Вот они, плоды, разрушения человеческого доверия. Спасибо.

These youngsters are quite brave but it’s also a little sad that when people do dare to criticise Putin all too often their body language speaks volumes about their discomfort. Wow! I feel sad for these people. So scared to even talk. That is extremely telling. And to think that taking to the streets is hopeless is exactly what the regime wants them to think. Very sad. Unfortunately, Russia has a very long and disgusting history of brutal oppressions. Until the year 1861 the majority of people were slaves. And even when the slavery era ended their government treated them like shit, they had no rights and each and every conflict with government ended with brutal retaliation of the state. It is not surprising that these years of mutual hatred (what else could it be between the slaves and the slavers?) concluded in the most bloody civil war and decades of terror. So, Russian people have no illusion about the perspective of peaceful protests. It will all be in vain. The only thing that can topple the regime is the armed rebellion and the following civil war. Most people are afraid of the horrors of war and try to delay it as long as possible. They know all too well that the first to rebel will be thrown in prisons, tortured, and probably rot to death. Not many people have guts to rebel knowing that it means inevitable pain, disgrace, and death.

Why did everyone suddenly assume that they were afraid of something there? They talk quite openly, joke, reason. As a resident of the hinterland (The city of Chita. On Google maps you will find) I claim that I can say anything about the government. I just don't want to, because I've seen what our region has turned into during Putin's rule and what kind of ass he pulled both the city itself and the country as a whole out of.

I hope one day that all Russian people can speak freely without fear of repercussions

It has been shown, in Maidan Square, in Berlin, in Prague, in Warsaw, in Bucharest, in Tunis, and in many other places that when you bring out a hundred times more people demonstrating than there is room in the jails to house them, change can happen.

@@siliqua4584 Thank you. It's heartening to hear that. Had I been in Russia and confronted with the prospect of conscription into the army, I would have done likewise. I too would have left the country if it were possible. In grew up in Australia during the Vietnam war - another unjustifiable and criminal war waged by the West - I feared being conscripted throughout my early teenage years. I wish you and all like-minded Russian people well.

It's refreshing to hear the optimism and honesty of Russia's youth. It was especially interesting to hear the one young woman acknowledge how different life is for residents of Moscow versus those living in rural areas, a fact of life that's apparent to anyone who has watched many of your videos. Good to see you back in operation, people were getting concerned!

@@RM-el3gw It wasn't half, and in any case it should be apparent (if you're paying attention) that often one needs to read between the lines (and watch subtle body language) when a Russian answers questions regarding politics. In Russia, even a 10 year old, it seems, knows the "correct" way to answer these sorts of questions.

Glad you're now safe in California, we love all poeples of the world, Russians especially. Sadly, Putin is Russias worst nightmare. My heart pains , hearing rural Russians live in meager conditions, yet keep saying , Putin is defending "motherland". Sure, while he pockets Russias$ Billions with his Oligarchs , and nothing for elderly Russian citizens.

But he is a coward. And I dont say this because he does not revolt against Putin. But he thinks like a coward, by convincing himself with the wrong assumption, that russia could not be changed through the people. In fact this is the only way that real change is possible. If the people stay the same, the next dictator can just continue to do whatever he wants to do. And his exmaple with Belarus is also wrong. The protesters there would have won long ago if Russia did not send its soldiers to violently suppress the people of Belarus. Nobody will send soldiers to Russia to suppress the russians if they finally had the balls to overthrow their shitty dictatorship

@@gehirnakrobat883 while this may be true, would you be willing to try it out in a country where soldiers are sent to OTHER countries to suppress protesting? if they have enough materials to be thrown to other countries, why would their own people be a problem? of course change is possible, but how many are actually willing to risk their future and lives for it, with no quarantee of succeeding? russia is a bad, bad place as for now.

First of all thanks for sharing, stay safe. Also, many of the young people you interviewed seem typical of youngsters in most parts of the world, they are positive, kind and caring and want to enjoy their life. It’s such a shame that they live in a culture of fear and control. 😢😢😢

Russia is already free, they just like to be that way. It's VERY convenient to say that it's all the government, it's not us. Get rid of your government, many countries have done that. this is simply avoiding responsibility.

Yeah some are bright and fun but they also are fatalist to a point that it's hard to imagine. I understand it's easy to say as I live in a fairly democratic country. When I was their age I protested and ended up in jail quite a few times (ok just for a night or too) to express my disagreement with the fact that my country was participating to wars for which the reasons were unclear. I know that I was risking less (in Russia some anti-war protesters have been beaten up, tortured) but the risk was not zero with the rubber bullets, tasers, riot grenades. There is a lot of apathy in the russian youth. Their government is bombing civilians daily. Using incendiary weapons on villages (White Phosphorus) and trying to make a whole population with children freeze. Instead of aiming at military targets, Russia is giving civilians maximum payload. War crimes. (Bucha, Izium Kherson etc..) Using their friends, family members as cannon fodder. I was hoping for a better reaction than "I'm not good at politics" "I'm neutral towards the situation" Or "pointless to think we can change anything...we can't" "We just have to wait that it changes itself from the inside"

all my respect to everyone involved - those opinions matter a lot. It shows how trapped most Russians are, right now. Free speech is a gift, an achievement many of our anchestors died for. I wish, Putin wouldn´t have had so much time to clear his inner sphere, so at least a small opposition could have stopped him. It´s mind blowing to me, how a mainly peaceful country could end up in such a situation. Since i´m german, the events remind me to 1933 and i also was asking my grandfather how it could have happened, way back. He told me, that they have been conditioned like dogs, for the narrative of the regime and most people didn´t even ask the obvious questions. They saw the events on the streets, listened to the radio, but have been so brain washed and feared of backlashes from relatives, that they stopped asking and just followed the main stream. Also, fascism was very popular at this time, but it went totally out of control, until noone was able to stop it anymore. i thought, these times are history, it could never happen again - boy, how wrong i was and it just shows, that mankind repeats the same faults over and over. Stay safe and keep us informed, so we will never lose the connection to the "real" Russians, because the first casualty of a war, is always the truth!

Very interesting analysis, I also agree with the 1930s parallelism. However, I don't think Russia ever was a "mainly peaceful" country. Putin's decision is just a logical continuation of the aggressive post-Soviet imperial mentality of Russia. Remember that this conflict started in 2014 with the occupation of Crimea and Donbas, and before that there was the invasion of Georgia in 2008 and the 2nd Chechen war in 2000, all waged by Putin himself. The 90s also saw several armed conflicts in post-USSR territories, and let's not talk about the Soviet times...

There is only one problem with this video: the author wants to hear what the West wants to hear - that people in Russia are supposedly unhappy(?) with Putin... But it's not so! There are many complaints against Putin, but the vast majority of Russians support his policy towards the West and Ukraine.

Friendly descriptive English note for you Danil in regards to *not caring about* and *not caring for* someone in EN usage. They both mean something a little different: If you don't care *about* a person then you are ambivalent or neutral toward them, either way. If you don't care *for* someone then really you don't like them, and if you know them and they you then there is *no love lost* as we say between the two of you, especially if they return the sentiment. Keep up the good work and content, my friend, to you and your team. 👍🏽💙

It’s so complex. We are friends with two Russian families who fled the country. The first family has now been here for about seven years (they saw what was coming) and have green cards and are able to work. Their children, ages 15 and 21 now, are flourishing and very happy. The first few years were rough, though. The second family, older and with fewer resources, left Russia in late summer of 2022 with their 19 year old son. He is in college and is slowly adjusting. His parents, on the other hand, left everything they had ever worked for plus their other two adult children. His English is okay and hers is quite limited. Christmas was so sad for them; it broke my heart. I want them to be happy but they are in a very difficult situation. Imagine leaving parents, elderly aunts and uncles, adult children, grandchildren, pets, and home! You arrive in a new place with one suitcase apiece. 🥲I hope they will adjust and find peace. ❤️

I hope they will go back where they came from. Imagine I had to do just that, because ruzzians like them occupied my country. I feel no sympathy or pity. All my sympathy and pity is for Ukrainians, especially the ones that are suffering ruzzian invasion and ruzzian atrocities in Ukraine. I don't want ruzzians to be happy anywhere but ruzzia. they created it and they richly deserve it.

Moving to another country is always difficult. My cousin went to work in Germany in the autumn. It has nothing to do with war. He has long wanted to work abroad. He was more interested in Taiwan, but his resume was responded to from Germany. He speaks good English and has no financial difficulties. But in Russia he had his whole family, girlfriend, friends. And he is very bored. On New Year's holidays he was invited to visit, but he did not want to go and called Russia all day. And that's why I don't understand people who write that normal people should drop everything and leave Russia. Even if a person has all the opportunities for this (and many do not have such opportunities), it is still very difficult to give up everything that you are used to, from everyone you love, and leave for a foreign country.

I HATE to say this because I'm 65 years old but sometimes young people are a LOT SMARTER than people my age! It should be true that the wisdom that comes from living should make one smarter but that's not always true, not in Russia and not in USA either. I say they are smart because its clear many of them don't want to talk about Putin (because they know if they give their true opinion, it could bring police!) and what they DO say is said very carefully. This isn't just about age, but what old generations in Russia has gone through and how it now warps their understanding of reality.

Big respect to this channel and to the people who appear. It's difficult to be honest in the face of such adversity, and I see in the eyes of the people who like Putin that they have some difficulty in expressing this. All I want is peace for the Ukrainian people, and a way that we can sort out this dreadful situation.

The presence of NATO in neighboring Nazist Ukraine, the genocide of the population in Donbass and the constant threat from Nazist, ruled by USA Ukraine towards Russia - is that what Russians should desire? we went wrong a long time ago. 23 years at least. people are afraid because putin basically banned all antiwar speech and every one saw that he is capable of killing tens of thousands without blinking an eye.

Slowly rights were being taken away during Putin's long time in office, and he gradually consolidated power. My thoughts for changes: term limits and limit presidential powers, safeguards against consolidation of the TV media and press, better checks and balances, reduce vast wealth disparities legislatively. Elected judges and Senators, require them to take an oath of office to uphold protect and defend the constitution in your country, increase educational spending and safeguard against using schools to indoctrinate children, make sure they are taught honestly and that they learn critical thinking skills.

Pink haried lady makes great sense - especially in last segment!.

Seeing young people, around my age, asking the reporter if they should say what should be said or what must be said feels sad. It reminds me of the stories my parents had about living in communism, where you had to go with the party line or it was Securitate for you, and gulag.

Nu exista gulag în România. Apoi marea majoritate a lumii beneficia de salarii decente și dezbaterea constructivă în cadrul socialismului marxist-leninist și al centralismului democratic erau permise și încurajate, în special prin anii 60 și 70, prin locuri de muncă și în cercuri administrative.

@@spacecommie7447 Nu era gulag, era penitenciar, ca la fenomenul Pitești, 77. Sau semi-gulag, ca Baraganul. Se vede că perspectiva ta e una propie și personală, dar nu cred că ai trăit vremurile alea, clar. Nu înseamnă că dacă ție îți era bine, puteai să ignori ce pățeau ceilalți. Așa de constructivă era dezbaterea, că atunci când bunicul meu a cerut calculatoare Siemens nu clone rusești sau franțuzești pentru poștă, a sfârșit prin a fi eliminat de Securitate (un om care de altfel, ținea cu țara, și avea ocazia să fugă de atâtea ori). Atât de fain era să ai salariu mare și să nu ai pe ce să cheltui,atât de fain era să aștepți 3 ani să îți dea voie băieții să cumperi un ARO (era considerată mașină care permitea poesorului să fugă din țară, deci erai analizat la sânge înainte să ți se dea dreptul de a o cumpăra), atât de fain era să ai curs valutar înghețat de guvern ca să bălești la shop-uri după produse vestice unde puteai intra doar cu pașaport și valută străină. Clar nu a fost doar rău. Dar nu poți forța o doctrină pe un popor care nu dorea asta. 70ul a fost un vârf de evoluție socioieconomică la noi pentru că Plumbuitul a ales să se deschidă vestului atunci când a văzut că Moscova doar ia, și a împrumutat bani de la FMI ca să facă acea infrastructură masivă. Ce nu a înțeles împușcatul e că nu poți avea o economie funcțională dacă forțezi lumea în câmpul muncii după planificări centrale. Așa apăruse expresia "timpul trece, leafa merge", pentru că mulți se obișnuiseră să se "descurce" cum puteau, dând un coniac mic/cartuș de Kent la tovarășu' pentru un favor, furând nițel de la muncă și tot așa. Mama când vroia să discute liberă în casă, punea receptorul de la telefon lângă radio, și punea direct Europa Liberă, să aibă băieții cu ochi albaștrii ceva de ascultat, dacă tot îi verificau și reparau telefonul fix odată la 3-4 luni. Pe final, te rog să nu confunzi socialismul cu comunismul, întrucât unul e parte din spectrul normal al democrației pe când celălalt e o extremă prostească în care luatul de la bogați și datul la săraci merge până când nu mai ai de unde...

@@spacecommie7447 doar în Germania de Est și Iugoslavia probabil dar la noi au fost mulți oameni băgați în închisorile comuniste pentru modul lor de gândire, au fost și experimente pe oameni gen Experimentul Pitești, apoi preoți torturați, poeți închiși, rockeri interziși, etc. lăsați vrăjeala cu salariile și cu locurile de muncă pentru că viața înseamnă mai mult de atât și dacă viața ta se rezumă să cânți în mod idealist despre cât de luminos este cupulul Ceaușescu la TV de revelion atunci mai bine te muți în Transnistria pentru că nu avem nevoie de tine in România.

Looks to me like the majority of Russian youth are smart and see through the rhetoric. Even if they can't always talk about it. The problem with these leaders is they simply don't accept that the world has changed around them. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Soon they will pass and hopefully their prehistoric ways will go with them.

And that alone is better than brainwashed cattle. Take care of yourself my friend, I wish you well in every aspect.

Putin and other oligarchs are pretty old right now; they're not immortal. It's time for younger Russian generations to think about how they'd like their country to be run in the near future, I guess.

@@DarkSova That's sad. However the proud people of Russia have already got rid of their ungrateful monarchs once in their History. If you really want it, you can do that again by yourselves. Without putting the blame uselessly on other European countries, that surely are more akin to Russia than Asian countries.

This is all nonsense! Europe itself perfectly nurtured all this oligarchic elite, all these children studied with them. Our money was laundered in European countries and the Europeans were satisfied with everything. But suddenly now they behave as if it was the Russian people who raised all these bastards, and they have absolutely nothing to do with it. And we, the youth of Russia, still have to understand all this and a huge number of sanctions. Brilliant, is that fair in your opinion?

@@pile333 issue is that to "get rid of the monarchy" Russia had to experience century long crisis to make internal masses of the people revolt.

There is an old joke about freedom of speech in Russia versus USA and Europe. European people say they can openly criticize their leaders with no punishment Americans say the same Russians agree they too can openly criticize European and American leaders
