    I have one of these and I am happy with it. The only thing I dont understand is when it asks for channel number. I have no idea what this is or what to key in.

    Channels let you access specific parameters and values stored in the ECU e.g. Oil service and Inspection service reset values. Please use caution when accessing channel information and always write down the original value. There are 000-255 possible channels, take a look at this: support.obdeleven.com/en/articles/5627050-adaptations

    Thank you so much. Very helpful video. I have a question regarding the EPB ReplaceBrakePads function. Can i switch off the ignition after moving back the brake motors and take the time to service the brakes without risking the battery running low. When finished, i would turn ignition on and execute the MoveForward Brake Motors. According to the VD700 manual , as i understand one executes the EPB ReplaceBrakePads, this will guide you through the process but it appears the ignition must stay on all the time (I mean ignition on and engine off). Any comment appreciated.

    I have the tool and have used it for filling the fuel filter after change, resetting the service light, monitoring the dsg temp during oils change, and re-coding for a new battery. Now I want to change the haldex/awd pump and filter, but am pretty sure that this tool won’t help me to trigger a recalibration after the pump is replaced. i believe that the basic setting use a protocol from the older models. Mine is 2013 Passat. Any ideas?

    More info after further research. My VD700 reports the Haldex controller protocol as CAN20, in other words an earlier protocol than UDS. This was confirmed by a post on a forum I found for the haldex controller of the same vintage as mine. Before UDS, you had to activate basic settings manually via a channel, or group number, rather than just selecting clearly from a list. Trouble is, all these channel numbers and what they do is a closely guarded secret of VW. But another doc I found said that channel 51 of the Haldex can be used after changing the pump. And Ross-Tech wiki shows channel 51 as "Adjustment valve controlling the opening degree of the clutch". Now, when I try Haldex (system 22) channels 1,2,3... on my VD700, it says that the channels are not supported. But I try channel 51, it offers for me to proceed!! Similarly there IS a channel at 50 also, but none at 49, or 52, so I believe that channel 50 activates the pump. So it seems reasonable that after changing a pump I can activate channel 51 to ask the controller to relearn the characteristic of the new pump (after appropriate warm-up). I have not been brave enough to go ahead yet, but I think I will try it and hopefully save myself $AU800 for VCDS.

    on tiguan 2017, you need to start the motor but I did the procedure it was not clear and I did also a mistake, just be careful for the next ebrake i did it with the battery method, use a 18V or 15V battery and just slowly rewind the motor, 12V should be way enough or even 9 V to prevent twisting the rubber when it reaches final position. After my mistake it didn't want to run the procedure unless I start the motor which is inconvenient in my garage, I should have some extension for the exhaust to bring the fumes further away from the opened door.

    You were working on a VW Golf 1.4 tdi when you actioned throttle adaption, tdi don't have throttles this is for petrol cars l only. I suspect it was actually opening and closing the anti shudder valve, in the air intake system.

    Diesels have a throttle body to adjust the air flowing into the engine that is mixed with the Fuel from the injectors - no air no explosion

    Yes true anti shudder valve on diesel they dont work like throttle body there either open or closed helps diesel incase of runaway engine

    I've been debating getting one of these for my Golf mk6, it would of been even better if it supported exterior /interior changes, eg seat belt alarm, lighting etc. The other units offering these are either subscription or credits. Vcds is too expensive

    That would be ideal, however, coding is usually found in the more expensive tools and as you have noted they are subscription-based or very expensive.     @@viperx1977 This tool only supports VAG Group cars (VW, AUDI, SEAT, SKODA) I'm afraid. For your Citroen, I'd advise you to look at the iCarsoft FR series: albionshire.co.uk/product/icarsoft-fr-v3-0-for-for-citroen-peugeot-renault-dacia-fiat-alfa-romeo/

    It would appear from my information ref internet that this tool does NOT do injector coding, only injector fuel quantity adjustment. This is NOT the same thing and cannot be used for recoding injectors after replacement. If you do not agree then please provide me with your information and evidence

    Despite being made to some fine tolerances, diesel injectors naturally have some variation in performance, flowing slightly different amounts of fuel. Knowing the performance characteristics of each injector, the ECU can compensate for this variation to deliver precise amounts of fuel to each cylinder. When you replace and injector you need to update the performance data in the ECU foe the new injector, otherwise the engine may run more roughly and with less power or fuel economy than it could achieve. Modern diesel injectors are marked with a code that describes tha injector performance and this is entered into the ECU using a suitable diagnostic tool.
