Enjoy hearing you preaching to the choir. After a long career in film photography, have never been able to make the adjustment to using the back LCD panel for framing and focusing--either stills or video. My rotatable screen cameras (A74, Lumix S5, Canon R5) are all closed and stay that way, unless playing with menus. BTW, the Sony A7R5 has the 9.44M viewfinder as well, bringing the Sony fleet using that 9.44 MP EVF to 3 cameras now. I've loved using EVFs ever since my first camera with one, the original A7s.😎

I totally agree - I use my A7iV for photography and some video work - I tend to look in the evf to make sure my compositions and exposure is correct, and even when viewing replays of recordings in the camera, I prefer looking in the EVF - it just looks and feels better and more accurate.

Justin, on print sizes, some things considered, with 12MP you can go WAY, WAY bigger than what you recommend here. I can show you a museum quality fine art print of a street scene I shot at 12MP, printed at 30 by 40 inches. It's an impeccable print, you can press your nose against it and not find any fault. Promised. It depends on the motive and viewing distance mostly. Not the megapixel count.

Agree, it is a great EVF and love using it for video. It helped decide the purchase when compared to the FX3. Enjoying your A7Siii journey.

Although it is big and bulky, the S1H has a pretty good evf and not only that the buttons light up lol

Thank you for sharing this, here is the next level not in resolution but magnification. Hasselblad X2D 100C EVF OLED, 5.76-million-dot. Viewing area: 100%. Magnification: approx. 1.00x with 65mm medium format lens at infinity, -1 m-1

Hey justin, about printing images: I printed a 4K screen grab from my movie with my pocket4k and gave it to friends and family who all framed it. They don't even know that it's just a 4k image because the shot looks so great :D I swear someone just looking at the image woudn't be able to guess the camera correctly. I hit the like button twice for you. Joking. One time.

You make some good points. The S1h has a function that you can increase/decrease the size of the evf in case you wear glasses. It's a great function. Was curious as to why you chose Sony over Panasonic? Colors in my opinion are far superior in Panasonic VLog. Not the type of person that's gonna drill you for any choices you make, or videos you make on KZread, but generally just curious. Obviously evf was one reason.

A little birdie told me that Sony subtly reaches out indirectly to KZreadrs who are seen as ambassadors of their competitor's products that they are starting to directly compete with. That sweet sweet money and equipment access!

I think I'd love to hear the bird. I've been a canon shooter all life. Last year took the eos m after decades removed from my AE1 Program. Loved watching "cinematic" youtubers like Justin. Lately considering the FP and A7S3 for my next cam. But, because of this "switch/coup" to Sony, I am considering the Pana S5m2X much more. Thanks Justin for showing yours and Sony's "true colors".

I'm glad someone is finally talking about why ANY viewfinder is better than looking at a monitor. I've been shooting for 40 years and will always revert to the finder when things get "clutch"... so much easier to concentrate on framing and exposure without the external peripheral view distracting your eye. I see so many new shooters just using monitors and figured that they MUST be missing out, but then just thought I was maybe being a grumpy old fart!

OK so did you shoot this AROLL on your Sony RX1R II? If so, was the light pulsing in the background from the autofocus? Honestly the results don't seem too bad not gonna lie!

Good EVFs are sooo expensive. I tried to be cheap and purchased the Portkeys EVF for like $600 to use with my Komodo. I could never nail focus. Maybe it's me. I do enjoy the Nikon Z9's EVF. It's really good. As for the Komdo, I just gave up and stick to the Peak Focus feature on my 7inch monitor. Thanks for the vid!

"Full HD" and "2K" is almost the same. 2K has just slightly more resolution. Actually if I'm not mistaken full HD is actually considered a 2K resolution. 2k is an umbrella term that comprises multiple resolutions.

but in this instance i'm talking about the physical pixel resolution of each EVF. in this case the a7Siii is 27% larger (or greater resolution). Quite a difference for your tiny eyeball. In my experience, I've yet to find or use an EVF that is this good. that's all

If I didnt have a EVF i would jump off of a bridge. So much better than a screen. I feel like the A7siii is so far ahead of its time spec wise it's going to take a lot of upgrades from SONY before anyone decides to jump to a new camera. And a big Middle finger to RED for patenting 4k+ internal RAW and not letting anyone use it. That is all.

Not really related but when ye guys say "I could care less" what ye actually mean is that you "couldn't care less" as if you could care less, then it's not at the bottom of the spectrum of caring 😂 If you "could care less" then there is more room for you to care less. It's something me and my girlfriend noticed as she's American as says "could care less" and me, an Irishman says "couldn't care less." God only knows why I've made my biggest KZread comment about this but now I've done it so may as well sent it 😂

I might be wrong but doesn’t the a7RV have the same EVF as well? Considering that camera’s similar price and much higher res sensor it might be a better choice as far as hybrids go like you mentioned. The a7RV also has unprecedented video features for the R line.

People who say EVF is good on a7siii didnt once looked through a fujifilm xt3 and newer cameras from fuji. I had the a7sIII and the evf was bad, pixelated, low brightness and if you bump up the brightness to max the whole image has a green tint, everything is greener. Worlds best ? Never.

how tho? i would want to compare that in real life. Maybe your copy was bad. The magnification and resolution is up there with the Sony a1. pixelated?? yeah i dont know man.. not my experience at all...but i know how you fuji boys are ;)
