Jordan 11 Review - The Jordan 11 is one of the shoes that people claim saved nike and the jordan brand. So what makes these sneakers one of the most popular jordans of all time and one of the best jordans of all time? It is partly due to the patent leather, the ballistic nylon upper the carbon fiber shank but each of these parts of the jordan 11 individually arent that ground breaking but combining them in a single sneaker is what really made them stand out. So I bought a pair to cut in half to see what's inside and if the jordan eleven still lives up to the hype.

    He should do some episodes focused on comparing today's quality to yesterday's. Both in materials and construction methods. I'd love to see an episode where he cuts the same silhouette, a retro and an og pair. Some og ACGs would be dope or maybe reebok freestyles which are very easy to come by in retro and original pairs via eBay.

    That's how I feel about the Military Blue AJ4s. They were the first Jordans I ever owned as a kid so I have a huge soft spot for them and was happy as hell with this last release being they're closer to the originals then any other retro Nike did of them. The AJ7 Bordeaux was the first pair I bought with my own money back in 92' so I have a soft spot for those as well. Hell, I actually still own them. They're not wearable anymore but they could be if I had a sole swap done, but I want to keep them as original as possible since the rest of the shoe barely looks used. The AJ11 Concords and the Space Jams are 2 of my favorite Jordans of all time, though.

    Jordan 12s I believe are the best made shoe. Only thing to improve it would be to get rid of the foam around the outside of the forefoot and the foam around the the outside edge where the ball of the foot is. This would make it more durable and make it more aesthetically appealing for longer. Otherwise great shoe, with great features.

    AFAIK, carbon fibre rigidity/strength really comes down to how the fibers are laid up and understanding the forces the part will experience is critical. In race cars you’ll see a part with cf be made to be strong enough to resist it’s projected forces and nothing else, place forces on it in a different way and it can be almost fragile. I’ve always loved this sneaker, but I’m kind of shocked that the cf plate would be that fragile in that direction, I would have expected it to be stronger.

    CF is stiff and brittle. Your foot can't bend nearly as much as he was bending that shoe in half in the middle, so I doubt it's as much of a concern as it was made out to be. Feet don't flex at the arch.

    An arch is strong if you push down from the apex, but not as structurally sound the opposite way, it looked like you cracked it bending it in reverse with a point load which I do not believe was the design intent.

  • @littlejackalo5326

    @littlejackalo5326

    A curved piece of carbon fiber is not an arch. It does not benefit from the strength of a structural/architectural arch, because the two ends are not transferring force into the ground, and the compressive loads are different. It's just a curved piece of CF, and will be pretty much just as strong in both directions.

  • @qwiswaz9774

    @qwiswaz9774

    i would think the direction of the layup makes a slight difference, assuming they are laying only a coule sheets to make the piece. it would be just a molded piece of flat layered cf. but the forces he broke it with would probably not happen on the middle of the arch with the shoe in tact, glued to both the outsole and midsole. a sharp 3 point bend in the arch never really occurs.

    Awesome video! Thank you for the quality production! As for the carbon fibre plate, you bent it to failure at the center of the foot arch in the opposite direction to its intended flex design but feet don't bend there and definitely not in that direction or to that extent. When in practical use, the shoe bends at the forefoot where that plate splits, thins out, and falls short of the tips of the toes allowing for that natural flex. I believe the center arch is meant to stay relatively in-form and functions more like the center column of a long bow to provide that spring back support at the ends of the shoe. If you bend a long bow at the center in the opposite direction, it would also snap since it wasn't designed to bend there or in that way. The 11s are my all time fav Jordans and I hope to own a pair one day! :)

    The Air Jordan XI are one of the most iconic and technologic shoes ever. The carbon plate in the mid-sole, the translucent clear rubber, the mesh, the patent leather, were innovative design technologic details never seen before in a basketball shoe. To think that this shoe was conceived and designed way back in 1994 gives even more innovative value to the designer: mister Thinker Hatfield.
