What Will the Solar Cities of the Future Look Like?

This video takes a look at the city of the future that is built around solar power and solar technology. Seeing how people are building solar panel projects, not just on land, but on water (floating solar farms), and up in the air.
We also take a look at Elon Musk's and Tesla's Cybertruck, seeing how solar panels could be fitted to them. And what about futuristic solar technology such as super solar trees, and other solar farm projects.
Open Source Classroom - Solar Tracker 3d Print Project:
Other topics covered in this future of solar video include :
• Adding robotics to solar panels, creating smart solar energy
• The different floating solar farms being built around the world, and the benefits of building on water
• Building over canals in India
• Using drones and balloons to create solar energy, and provide other services such as internet communications
• The future of solar windows and what else could they be used for in a solar city
• And the ideas of roof tiles, and building roads using solar cells

Yeah it's probably unrealistic. They'd probably be fairly high maintenance. Typical solar panels take maybe half their lifespan to cover their own cost. But solar panels used to build roads, no matter how sturdy, aren't likely to last that long, and there'd probably be other maintenance costs too, like extra cleaning and snow removal. Maybe future advancements will make the idea a possibility though.

Maybe we need to vote the assholes out first before everyone gets the wrong impression of solar not because of the technology or the returns but because of the bullshit.

The trees are legit cool, but whoever had the dumb idea of blocking the surface of the ocean sould be fired. May seem cool as a prototype, but devastating if scaled up. Solar punk is first and foremost about harmonizing future tech with the world around us

Solar energy is interesting but it uses battery that contains toxic chemicals., so regarding to environmental issues recycling is the most challenging part for implantation. I hope nikel cadmium, lithium ion & other elements used to manufacture batteries would be renewable unlike fossil fuels...

The Veterans Administration in Amarillo TX. put up solar pane;s in all the parking lots around the hospital to help with electricity expense. I myself don't know how its working but I guess it's doing okay, they are still up and provides shade in the parking lots

Texas has plenty of sun so unless local electricity is super cheap solar will pay for itself quickly and then they get free power for decades. Even if the utilities are cheap the panels will power the hospital in case of blackouts so they will not need to rely on emergency generators so much.

The Solar Roadways idea was good enough. It was the execution - using what is now 15 - 10 year old technology - that failed. ;) e.g. a bit later in the vid, he talks about a new company that is embedding solar tech into the materials of our infrastructure. ;) It's the same idea, but with better execution and newer technology. ;)

SR was basically some guy with an idea trying to develop it in his garage, unfortunately that doesn't work out these days as well as half a century ago. There are other problems with it, but not being able to develop a properly working prototype certainly does not help.

I think Solar balloons on Mars would just crash since there's no atmospheric pressure on Mars. On the other hand, it seems like there's a possibility of life in the upper atmosphere of Venus, where a solar balloon should feel right at home, assuming it can stay high enough to get enough sunlight, so hopefully we send some there soon.

Do create a video on SOLAR COMMUNITY.. India has more than 670,000 villages as on date and imagine each village has Solar Community for the common good. How to make it sustainable is the key.. SOLAR, WIND and other forms of energy should be available in every community for FREE, with very little investment and maintenance by community.. #CooperativeSocialism - is the way to go, worldwide.

The planet is running out of Helium. We can't afford to use the small remaining quantity to fill up solar balloons. Why not use some of the electricity produced to heat the air filled in these baloons?
