Hi! Not sure if anyone else noticed this before, but I watched this video with my partially deaf cousin, and so I put the captions on. Just wanted to ask if she writes the captions herself, because they were amazing, they weren’t just the auto generated captions and subtitles, and my cousin (7) sat and read and listened and was engaged and understood the whole video. Something so little means so much to some people and I just wanted to bring it up for some recognition xxx thanks waffles

Dude same!! That's why I force myself to have a blank face while drawing at school, or if I notice I have a weird expression, I'd try to have a natural expression straight after noticing.

waffles, your whole method of forgiving yourself for your mistakes and calmly acknowledging what you could do better has made so much of a difference to my life, not just in art, but in all sorts of things! i used to abandon projects or give up easily and i was on the verge of giving up on art entirely, but you really helped me learn to embrace my mistakes and persevere even if my final product isn’t exactly what i wanted it to be! since i started watching your videos, i’ve gotten so much more forgiving and kind to myself. this video is fantastic and so are you!

amélie akasha i'm so used to artists being super negative about their art. always saying how bad they are and how after one mistake they make it the biggest deal ever. i think it really disheartens their followers. not that you have to be all sunshine and rainbows, but i do admire waffles' attitude towards her art 💕

Exactly. Especially when she goes over past sketchbooks from when she was younger. So many art youtubers always talk about "Oh my god, these are TERRIBLE. I was so BAD." - Meanwhile half their audience wishes they were that advanced. It's very discouraging for beginners and inspiring artists. She doesn't do that. She's very light and kind. It feels good to watch. It's motivating.

Whenever I draw anyone with lots of emotion, or, well, emotion in general, I always end up making the face I'm drawing, like if they frown, then I'm frowning too, if they smile, I smile, I don't know I've noticed a lot of artists do it as well! Its quite funny!

I never noticed that but since I moved and had art class people noticed. I wanted to draw a character that was so mad and suddenly a person was like "Whats your problem?" Apparently that person though I was mad at them

I use ohuhu markers most of the time even though I'm trying to branch out into other brands... They're not the greatest in terms of patchiness but they're pretty good for blending and price so I would definitely recommend getting some of them (they cost about 50p each)

Yeah I'm already super self conscious when I draw in public and when I start smiling like a maniac I either look self absorbed with how happy I am with my art or like crazy person. Either way it ends up with me wiping the smile from off my face and mumbling to myself and than I get even more embarrassed and than I want to die so yeah.... hopes4u once in grade 2 or 3 (I don’t remember), I was drawing, and I was doing some really weird faces, and then I noticed something. I looked up and everyone was looking at me ahhhhhh

This got me really inspired to draw. And I'm so glad I'm not the only one who experiences issues with the lines smearing every once and a while with the copics! Lol I'm so careful coloring with them because I'm afraid it's always going to happen to me!

A big smudge across the face is never a good look. ;) I mean.. unless you're drawing a train conductor or a miner or something. I think next time I'll wait like....4 hours before adding the markers. hahaha maybe that will help.

@@drawingwiffwaffles Had the same problem, found out that it's the paper. Sometimes it has a weird layer or texture that makes it harder for fineliners to dry. I buyed a pack of canson paper in France and after 5 min drying time, NOTHING ever smeared. It's not the normal Canson sketchbook paper. If anyone's interested I can look if I can find it on Amazon.

@@drawingwiffwaffles Microns aren't alcohol proof btw. I have a couple copics and the reason is because I bought some of their fineliners too. They're called Copic Multiliners and they wont smudge as long as you wait a bit for them to dry lol)Hope you have fun with them and have a good week!

I got copics last year, a couple of days ago I finally invested in a couple of water-based black markers to do lines in so that I don't have smudging, it was so freeing. I only have a small amount so far and watching you draw with them is really giving me iideas about which colours I should invest in to go with my collection.

My ohuhu markers are coming in today and I'm so excited because they are my first "real" art supplies and I'm so happy even if they aren't actual copics AHHHHH I'm so excited

I work at a Dollar Tree and I'm actually so surprised how well their art/office supplies is! They even have at lot of different options to choose from. I find myself buying so much incase I run out of my good stuff and need something to hold me for a bit. I absolutely looove Dollar Tree!

I know this is an older video and you won't see this but your enthusiasm is just so infectious!! Thank you so much for the many hours of pure enjoyment. So fun watching you improve as the years go by. You are an inspiration to so many, myself included. I'm going thru a really bad time just now. I took care of my youngest daughter thru a 2 year battle with cervical cancer. We lost her 2 weeks ago. She was only 34. She was so brave and fought so hard. If Im not mistaken I think I found her when she did a tutorial on braids, I love the way she does hair too, so much movement!

She's so delightful and un-problematic, a drama free zone is a rarity in the art youtube world so I feel she's underrated too lol

Waffles I love all of your art! You really inspire me to draw even in my most sucky art blocks! You always have an amazing opinion and the most interesting things to say! Watching your videos always makes me laugh, and every day I wait excitedly to see if another video goes up. Side note, for the copics, when you get something on the tip just grab a scrap of paper and use the marker until the color is back to normal. A lot of times it leaves a change in color, but that’s ok as long as none of it is transferring or affecting the color

Yees now I know that I am not the only one that smiles when i do a smile!

If you go to blick art materials they have them much cheaper and individual markers cost the same as ones in sets so you can pick whatever colors you want and how many without spending more :)

If you look up ohuhu markers, they're like .50cents a pop last i saw

Honestly, watching your videos has helped develop my art style, because I really love the way you draw certain things, and modifying those things to fit my style is so much fun. I hope we can all continue to grow as artists and people together! [^♡^]

@DrawingWiffWaffles, I always find myself smiling or making a mad expression when I draw there face expression, subscribe and watch her vids are awesome, so is her art!!

Her expression is powerful. I think we draw expressions based on how we feel in that moment. My art doesn’t often have smiles but I do smile in real life. :)

The hair makes me think of Ever After High's princess hair styles, if you wanna look at them xD I personally love that style, but I struggle to draw anything resembling it without reference from a cartoon or show cause hair just doesn't sit like that in real life.

I do that smile thing too! When I draw a character's face, I just subconsciously start making that expression. Love your art, too! I always get in a drawing mood when I watch your videos

Practice i key, just fill up like 5 sketch books and you will be better. And look at references! it doesn't have to be photos but maybe other people's art on pinterest or google images. And try different styles, and SIZES don't draw super tiny EVERY time, and take classes! It all helps i promise, anyone can draw!

Ooh and draw a basic quick sketch of the whole entire thing instead of doing a lot of detail in one tiny spot and trying to do more tiny spots together it will look mixmatched and you will be mad you took so much time to make something you don't like.

DrawingWiffWaffles Please look at the cover art of a game called sparkling cats from Walmart the cover art looks almost exactly like your old style. I also don’t know if you drew it or not, so I guess this is a kind of heads up if you didn’t draw it.

Still might have to try out that col-erase, but primacolor and I are not the greatest of friends. XD We have a lot of breaks.... Also, I make the expression i am drawing usually... I find it irritating sometimes, but I just can't stop it! XD Copic markers have been my favorite medium as of current!!! ^---^ I didn't like them at first because I couldn't figure out how to use them, but after a while, I am getting way way better!!! ^----^

I low-key hate prismacolors, but I love the col-erase ones!

I always use Microns with copics and they work fine. When I used the prismacolor liners they smudged. Interesting. It was probably the paper lol

This is definitely one of my favorite drawings. I love her expression (lol not to be depressing) it really seems like there's a story behind the picture. Maybe someone forced her to be in a portrait. Also, her "other-worldliness" really contributes that there is a background to the character. That and I love your lineart in this. Not to mention the color scheme. I'm sure every drawing has room for improvement but I just love this picture. (it also really reminds me of lois)

This inspired me sooo much it's so good! I've been going through a huge art block it's been like a month and this finally made me draw something decent thank you!

I just love this piece! Everything about it really draws me in.
