I completely agree with what Faisal bhai said, I’ve owned 2nd gen vtec plus city and 3rd gen city and now a 2020 jazz. They make such brilliant cars what I don’t know why they are not able to make good decisions For our market. There’s no other budget car company which gives such a brilliant steering Feel and that vtec enjoy joy. I’m really hoping they don’t mess up the upcoming elevate suv in terms of pricing or inadequate feature list. Honda makes really good cars it’s just they don’t know how to sell them. I hope they won’t end in the situation where Ford Chevrolet Mitsubishi ended.

I think main problem is the profitability. Indian market is quite different and price sensitive so making cars specific to it seeks extra investment. Moreover weird taxation rules makes it near impossible to sold international models in india at reasonable price. So how did Hyundai and kia able to cracked it? well they do cost cuttings in platform itself to keep price in check.

The only thing Kia lacks is ncap rating, other than that Kia has destroyed Honda in every aspect. Seltos/creta is as refined as any other Japanese car in Indian market and offers more features than other Japanese car. Honda and Kia both make their cars in india. The problem is Honda doesn't know how to price their vehicles be it 2 wheeler or cars. Honda premium 2 wheeler segment is also dying with its cars because Honda thinks they are kings of the industry and they think customers will come begging for them. Price hike of Honda amaze diesel (their cheapest and practical offering) was the biggest blunder Honda has done. Also what's stopping Honda from putting amaze engine in an suv and selling in india?

Good video and well explained. It's the very similar situation here in South Africa with Honda. Sales have fallen flat, and there's not much excitement for the brand. With the rapid rise of Chinese brands in our market too, they're pushed further down the bottom. It wouldn't surprise me if they shut down operations in South Africa....

My mechanic told me to replace the door it will be better than fixing it. So when you mention the rusting part I did relate to it. My new favourite car is Virtus GT. It looks good both on paper and your reviews. I hope the upcoming GT plus will be a great one too.

About the City hatchback, I think it could have worked if they decided to market it as an Estate/Wagon variant of the City (kinda like how Octavia has an Octavia Combi variant in EU). It may not be a "true" wagon but if cars like Creta and Brezza are sold as SUVs and can generate big sales why not this right? I think it could also spawn a new segment for C-hatchbacks for our markets which could potentially get the global spec cars like the VW Golf, Renault Megane and maybe even the Civic and Corolla hatchbacks.

In 5th Gen Honda CITY they were the first to offer ESP,VSA,4 airbags, tpms, Connected car tech(5 yr subscription),hill hold, brake assist,AUTO AC, touchscreen etc all good to have and must have features from base variant itself and at that time no manufacturer was offering these safety features from base variant Now in 2023 some are offering this in safety features from base variant Also They r offering Honda sensing ADAS etc features from 2nd base variant of 5th Gen City..Again they r the first to offer it..Their products are expensive than the competition because they dont have 10-20 variants to offer..they just have 3-4 variants max..and all gets all features standard..So If they want to be cost competitive then they should launch 10-20 variants of their upcoming car where base variant will feel like empty box with no touchscreen, auto ac,no alloys nothing... Just like Hyundai do with their cars like Creta,Venue,Verna etc which gets nothing in base variants Also Koreans are cutting cost on safety which adds most of the cost of manufacturing where Honda isn't so offering Safety, Features,Value for money isn't possible plus heavy taxes are the special add on in which City hybrid being most fuel efficient have to pay 43% of taxes same as normal petrol cars

Great job, such an awakening and informative video, true journalism. Someone needed to talk about this!!! We can't let go a significant brand slowly like this otherwise, we'll be only left with soulless and rebadged japanese brands which just rush behind sales. Its good that sales isn't the only / main aim of Honda unlike other brands but, they should be global, unbiased and customer sensetive if they want to bring out the real them, like they are in the USA. A brand is always established to create customers.

I agree to everything that you mentioned! Being a Honda fan myself, it's heart breaking that Honda has been disappointing persistently.. Why would not Honda give us the global models!? Atleast why can't they reduce the price of Indian models like Wrv for the low powered engine with no mileage .. I had planned to buy a wrv in 2018 and I was stunned to know that the full option diesel had keyless entry, cruise control and push start stop button but not in the full option petrol! What logic is that?! And again in the latest civic a CVT in petrol and manual in diesel!? Who takes decisions in Honda?! And moreover who approves of it?!

Things HONDA should do: 1- Bring Honda city rs 1.0 L with manual option to India. 2- Make the current 1.5 L city turbocharged so it can smoke all it’s rivals. 3- Ditch the sluggish CVT gearbox and instead try DCT or other options 4- Make the cars more sporty especially city by putting bigger wheels and tyres. 5- Good infotainment system 6- Bring a good ,capable , solid, powerful SUV . 7- Think twice before putting the price tag. 8- Make the cars more solid and improve the overall quality of the cars. 9- Read this comment.

Fantastic effort Faisal. Brilliant explanation ❤. Loved it. It is really disheartening to see HONDA not caring about customers and their feedback at all. Would love to see more content on similar brands that have not yet left India and is going on a decline. Unlike FORD 😢.

Honda launched the VTEC engine with the 2nd gen City facelift but wasn't standard across all the models. It was sold along with iDSI engine as well.

I'm ready to give a premium just for that Honda motor under hood coz, without that its useless ! U want reliability & performance at the same time ie technically impossible, Honda makes that possible ! I ll be happy as long as Honda sells their engines. I can get a chassis for that Engine from the rest brands ! Actually what do we gain by putting a GDI + turbo ? some few seconds from life right !

Brilliant video, another point , how difficult was it for Honda to plonk the 1.5 vtec with auto GB in the WRV from the City or even the diesel + CVT from Amaze to WRV , it would have done wonder but Honda is Honda in making the most baffling decisions .

I can vouch for the rusting part, When I was in school one of the girls in our class owned a city, Her father used to driver her to school everyday so we saw that car daily for 4-5 yrs, and man that car turned into a rusted box pretty soon. Somewhat the weather of our hometown was to blame with rains almost 10 months in an year.

No need to blame your region, same issue is face by many city owners including me. The engine/ performance remains superb, in optimum conditions throughout lifetime but the rusting part...😔 There is saying among mechanics that city ki body sad ke gir jayegi pan engine chalta rahega 😅

Don't know why Honda not even considering turbo engines for indian market..If cost was the reason then vw wouldn't launched their tsi engines in india.. We can't forget that Honda launched City with Proper 1.5 VTEC, Accord V6 etc which was a rocket then realised that indians want mileage resulting VTEC to i-VTEC.. They should consider 1.0 and 1.5 VTEC turbos for India but I think they aren't considering because of mainly four reasons: 1. Very less sales volume, less profit 2. They r treating indian market as 3rd grade which they actually doing by not launching good cars like HRV, Civic,Crv,Brv etc 3. Reliability issues because of india's poor fuel quality and they don't want to spoil their name in Reliability 4. They want to focus on Hybrids instead of turbos as turbo engines delivers less fuel efficiency and hybrids delivers the most and indians want fuel efficiency that's why... I think honda makes one of the best engines worldwide and known for their reliability also...Last year's F1 race says it all.. Also They should launch more products to India like CBU,CKD Civic,HRV,Crv etc Their Upcoming ELEVATE SUV will be do or die situation for them so they should launch it at aggressive price not honda premium and should improve mistakes they have done in the past

Imo Problem lies in localisation. The difficulty to find local vendors we can supply high quality parts at reasonable rate that too within a tight timeframe.

Such an interesting video full of knowledge. Well I'm kinda disappointed as I drive two Honda cars. Talking about solo isn't Honda and Acura together? One more thing, the ivtec isn't a VTEC, that's just branding I can say.
