What went wrong... The previous GM Jrob after a stellar 2019 draft laid an egg on the entire 2020 draft... with Kristian Fulton being the "best" pick up that year who likely will not get resigned next year meaning the entire draft was essentially a bust. This was then followed by the 2021 draft where again it was a huge flop with the best player likely being late 3rd round pick Elijah Molden as slot corner or maybe Dillon Radunz as a backup guard... essentially another bust without a true 1st or 2nd round prospect. Then the 2022 draft you trade AJ Brown (one of the best WR's in the nfl) for Burks (a WR who's done basically nothing), and while not as bad as the previous two years... it just isn't enough when you also lose your vet talent to aging out and have no cap space due to poor GM cap management.

I have one caveat to argue regarding the AJ Brown trade.....this trade blew up in JRob's face but not for the reasons everyone tries to use. Too many Titan's fans wore rose colored glasses when looking back at AJ's time with the Titans. AJ suffered from the very same issues that Burks has suffered last year and this year.....AJ missed a large number of games due to injury while with the Titans and then plays in ALL if not almost all of the games in his first season with the Eagles. The base level issue of the Titans goes back to having used the most players in the NFL in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. This is a direct indictment of the entire Titan's training staff! If I hear one more pundit/analyst/coach/sportswriter say how the Titan's training staff is the 'best in the entire NFL', it will make me want to release the most intense primal screams in human history!

oh and one more note regarding the 'poor GM cap management'.......it would be almost impossible for ANY GM in the NFL to not have issues maintaining cap space when you have to use 91!!! (NFL Record) different active players in 2021 and 86!!! (2nd all-time) different active players in 2022 (also to include this current season, Titans have used 83 and counting different active players in 2023) so at some level I do feel sorry for JRob but ultimately training staff falls under his purview like the players do... so the only issue I had with AAS firing him was that she did it in the middle of the season at which point the Titans were still very much in the playoff race in 2022 despite the ginormous amounts of injuries they had already experienced to that point. Her one mistake was not waiting to fire JRob at the end of the season.

@@davidbowen2093 that's not how cap works, most of the FA players were paid below the 51 man regular season contract limit and so did not contribute to the cap. (Most were 1 and 2 game temp guys) The cap situation was also caused by Jrob who gave large contracts to questionable players... like the almost $10 contract to Vic Beasley after it was already known he was washed...would have been nice to have a $10 mill cushion if we... idk needed to pay a starting WR the coach loves.

Harold Landry got hurt last year but has 9.5 sacks this season

Spot on aside from nearly everything you said about EDGE rushers. 1. Harold Landry was drafted by the titans, not signed in free agency. He has also been excellent, and this year impressive for a guy coming off a torn ACL…9.5 sacks and they normally come at the biggest point of the game. 2. Arden Key was a cheap EDGE signing last offseason and he has been really solid. 3. Denico Autry, who is DE / EDGE, is one of the best 2 or 3 free agent signings in titans history and has had 3 straight solid seasons & this year he is borderline elite. 4. Correct on Dupree, that was a whiff (by the since fired GM JRob)

This team has a bright future, Levi’s has been playing good, Tyjae spears is our rookie rb who is playing good. We need to lose out and grab Joe alt. We have 100 million in cap space this year and we can bring in some good players. Harold Landry is starting to play good for a acl tear. Smb is our best corner. Also, Peter skrownski is a great guard too just got injured. Ran carthon will save us. Fire our coordinators too

Yeah the mismanagement upstairs is well known to Titans fans. But too many ignore the mismanagement on the field. Skoronski was a 1st rd LT who was not allowed even to fail at that position, but designated a LG from the gate when we had cover there in Brewer, Radunz, and 2 other OLs. Then we play Brewer at C, getting overpowered routinely at a smallish 275 lbs, on top of NPF, a 2nd rounder, middling at best at RT. Then NPF goes down and we pick up an aging Hubbard at RT, who was the best lineman arguably, goes down after a few weeks of play. The bonehead playcalling continued, despite firing Downing, with Kelly. 1 and 2nd down runs, play action or screen on 3rd, rinse repeat. Occasional 1st down throws to DHop and Moore proved successful, only to default back to the nonsense. Defenders living in our backfield. 3rd and long screen out wide, mostly to the short side and not upfield to Henry or Spears, when Henry is always best moving forward. TE room suffering from a dropsies outbreak never really showed a consistent threat. All the while, Vrabel gives Tannehill the preseason off, then starts him week 1, clearly isnt ready to play, in favor of the one QB who gets all the preseason work in Willis, and benches him. He then gets spot duty at the end of the London Ravens game, where he looks horrible along with the C who cant get him the ball cleanly. C exchange was an onging issue the 1st half of the season. Sprinkle that in with NFL leading offsides calls and PIs in the secondary, who btw couldn't cover Tupperware outside of SMB, you get the present 2023 Titans playing to lose for a #4 1st rd pick. We finally find a big arm, poised QB in Levis, only to hamstring him with the run 1st routine, when every football fan in creation knew by then that we couldn't block a soul. That's on coaching, lack of preparation, and an adherence to a way outdated scheme, instead of coaching the guys in front of you and putting them in winning positions of strength. Recipe for disaster, and it shows, and will show against the Jags in the last week.

It's a new era... Titans have flipped the script. We have a totally new philosophy, new coaching staff, and new talented players. We are 180° from the Titans of last yr . And Callihan is going to be the key... That unlocks our true potential on offense. And our defense is going to be legit too!!! Our cornerback room is crazy, and the DC is a corner back specialist... Doesn't take a rocket scientist lol TitanUp 👆

The primary issue with the Titans in 2023 along with 2022, AND 2021 goes back to the training staff! Both Titans' fans and a lot of local & national pundits wear rose colored glasses regarding AJ Brown's time with the organization. Let's not forget that AJ missed MULTIPLE games while playing for the Titans, then once with the Eagles, he plays ALL if not almost all of the games in 2022! This is the actual scandal that cost JRob his job! The Titans used an NFL RECORD 91 players in 2021, then followed that with a second most all time of 86 different active players in 2022! This is something that still affects the Titans this season as we are at 83 and counting different active players. The only fault I find in AAS firing JRob was in the timing of it. She should have waited until after the season to fire him. The Titans were still very much in the playoff race at the time he was fired and that lead to the collapse in 2022. That being said as the primary reason the Titans are in such disarray....the next most pressing issue going into 2023 was fixing the O-Line which was a steaming pile of garbage in 2022. Arguably, GM Cathorn's PRIMARY TASK in his 1st season as GM was to fix the O-Line! If you look at every discernable statistic available, the O-LINE is even worse in 2023 than in 2022! The sheer incompetence of signing Dillard who is not talented enough to play in the NFL should be the top reason for Cathorn being a single season GM. He MUST BE FIRED! It seems that as good as Vrabel is....he needs to be traded to the Patriots since he is too stubborn to make necessary moves needed to fix the underlying issues that plague the Titans! It took getting the best punter currently in the NFL, Stonehouse (who broke an over 50 year old record in average punting yardage), injured before he was forced to fire the incompetent Special Teams coach. Also, he bears a significant portion of the blame of the failures of the training staff overseeing 3 straight years of leading the league in number of active players used per season! The Titans have found their QB of the future in Levis along with a resurgent DHop and one of the greatest RB of all time in Derrick Henry who got over 1000 yards despite having to run behind the worst O-Line in the NFL! The defense was doing well until this idiot GM traded off the captain and leader of the defense in Byard which lead to the unsurprising collapse of that unit after the trade was completed. Simmons is a great leader himself but cannot do it all to fill in the void left by Byard.

I’ve pretty much lost hope as a Titans fan. Levis is great, and is definitely a reason to have hope for the future, but I don’t even think that will last. Our owner could care less about the performance of this team, it’s just an income for her. As soon as the Titans start to play well, she’ll find a way to try and cut corners to do the same thing for cheaper and it just doesn’t work like that. She’ll milk as much income from the Levis hype as she can to line her pockets and when it’s time to pay him we’ll ship him off. I think trading Brown had a lot less to do with J Rob thinking it was a good idea and way more to do with Amy not wanting to pay him. And he was just a scapegoat when it didn’t work out. She wants this team just competitive enough to get people in the stands, but not Super Bowl competitive because that would require a few big time contracts that would eat into her profit too much. Paying AJ Brown was a problem but she didn’t think twice about shelling out millions for a new stadium to bring people in😂 this team is just Amy Adams Strunk’s income. She doesn’t care about wins and losses. She doesn’t care about the fans. She doesn’t care about Tennessee. She only cares about dollar signs.
