We also discuss the handy hygienic emptying system and the fact that the dust canister is larger than that on the V6. We like the reasonable battery recharge time and that the vacuum is well balanced and not too heavy. It is also quite powerful in Max power mode and pickup on carpet and bare floors (tile in our case) is good. It is also capable at pulling up pet hair and we run a test with long white dog hair on medium pile carpet. The system to attach and detach tools is intelligent and much better than the more simple approach of compression fit. We were surprised that ALL tested run times where better than the official battery life figures. We like that the filter is rinsable in water and we also show how to clean the V7 trigger filter.

Nice review! I like the v7 hand held. Can you do a review on the Oreck Pod?

Thanks for the great review! It does sound kinda screechy when vacuuming I see, it seems to be screeming "EEEEEH I'M CLEANING THIS EEEEEEEEE!"

Hello, really complete review. Have you tried to attach any stick to v7 trigger? So you know if it works as well as v7? I am thinking about adding the stick but not sure if it’s going to work or it’s better to buy another. Thanks

The v7 trigger pro , yes it has a hepa filter yay, but does it fit in the wall mount docking station?

Without the wand these dyson triggers are a pretty expensive dust buster. I have a v6 total clean and use it regularly but hardly ever without the long wand and motorised head tool. On the early handheld models dyson made it impossible to add the wand by having a slightly different fixing point which made it impossible to upgrade the unit at a later date but not sure if this is now still the case. Very good review though 👍🏻

Can we buy stick and use it as a hoover? Body is the same to same with V7 hoovers?

Sorry for a potentially silly question, but is the V7 trigger basically the exact same machine as the V7 absolute/motorhead just without the stick & stick-head attachments? In other words, is it just the accessories are different, or is the trigger a different machine in some way? I've tried to find this answer online, but didn't see it addressed anywhere.

From what I have read no. The battery on the V7 is larger and heavier. The trigger uses a smaller and lighter battery since it assumes you're going to actually be holding it vs resting it on the floor as you would with a stick vac.

Just an off (or on) topic question. Your carpets, pretty obviously always look pristine. How do you get the edges near skirting boards and door frames clean, do you have a specific technique and/or a favourite vacuum from your collection? I always find the crevice tool just isn't powerful enough.

Hey Jack. We use the Dyson Ball Animal 2 to give the carpets a thorough cleaning every now and then. It has good edge cleaning and also powerful suction at the end of the hose/wand (when we use the crevice tool). We use the stick vacuums for the quick and easy more frequent cleaning.

Can you run this thing plugged in without it dying? My car has a standard outlet and it would be nice to run this in Max mode for longer than 6 minutes at a time.

When you are recharging the battery you cannot run the vacuum. So you cannot plug it in to bypass the short battery run time issue. (unfortunately).

Hi, could the wand of V8 or V6 fit theV7 trigger? Thank you.

The V6 stick vac wand will not fit on the V7 Trigger. The V8 stick vac wand will, but we were not able to get the direct drive cleaner head that came with our V8 Absolute to work with the V7 Trigger. On the other hand, we were able to use the wand and cleaner head that came with our V7 Motorhead stick vac with the V7 Trigger.

Could you please check if the V7 Trigger can power a motorhead from one of the stick vacuums? I would like to upgrade mine to a handheld stick by buying replacement parts but online there is some information that it won't work. I can't seem to find a reason why not but since you have them all do you mind throwing a stick from a V7 motorhead and and seeing if it will work with the trigger? Thank you!

Hey - I placed the wand and cleaner head from the V7 Motorhead on the V7 Trigger and it ran. I was also able to do this using the V10 Motorhead.

Mix some hay in and see if it vacuums that up too. The noise it makes sounds horrible. Don't use it anywhere near a hamster.
